Hi Jason, Good post. What do you do for living if you don't mind me asking in order to do that many miles a year? -

I think any of the other mentioned above are less than 1900kg in weight. If you make them the same weight as the RX450h about 2,300kg, they will struggle to keep up! -

Nice one Herbie, The RX 450h is very quiet and quick. I really enjoy the wast amount of power at any speed. Also how smooth acceleration is and how spookily quiet inside. Great car for 2019. Enjoy your RX450h’s and many trouble free miles ahead. Mr. Vlad, I wish you all the best. Don’t forget us and hope one day we will chat again. All the best. -

Buying a brand new car is a great experience and expenditure. The car looses about 50% in the first 2,5 years. This works for company cars, but if you are spending your own money, you are better off getting a 2 or 3 years old which would be around £15K and with 30,000 miles for example on a car which cost £30,000 new. If you keep the car for 3 years you can still sell it for £8K-£9K depend on condition and your 3 years ownership would come to £6,000 or £7,000 in total, which is £166 or £194 a month. Compare to £1,300pcm for a brand new car!!! New cars have warranties and peace of mind, but you can get an extended warranty on 2 or 3 year old car or buy Lexus( very reliable and with Lexus services you probably do not need to pay for extended warranty). What you can do is open a saving account and call it “ For repairs” put £100 every month instead of paying for extended warranty and if anything goes wrong, get it fixed. If you buy Lexus after 3 years you probably will have £3,600 in the account and can upgrade to another 2 or 3 years old car. -

Hi Vlad, Sorry to jump on your post, but I have to disagree with your quote here " Out pulls the RX on any revs" I am sure it makes more noise and that is why you think it is faster than the RX450h. Last week we had someone who could not see our RX450h and tried to park on our spot. My wife was in the car and the RX450h needed to go for a small scratch repair on the rear door. Churchill out insurance company surprised us with a up market curtsey car like this one : https://www.topgear.com/car-reviews/land-rover/discovery-sport/20-sd4-240-hse-5dr-auto/spec Very fast car my wife was saying( she drives the RX450h ) and I went to try how fast it is. Apart from very noisy diesel and turbo I did not find it faster than the RX450h. Our Lexus was ready after 3 days and my wife could not wait to get in the Lexus. We had the Discovery Sport for two extra days together with the Lexus and I can assure you, there were many tests between the two cars and even when my wife was in the Lexus, I could not beat it. I am almost sure if you have someone with Lexus RX450h near you, you can see how much faster it would be compare to the Mondeo. I know the speed is not that important, but this is something which is in abundance in the RX450h, especially the acceleration from standing still, how smooth it is and quiet and refined ( you can not hear the engine screaming inside the car even ) I can only agree with you on the economy. The ford will be more economical. I hope you have a trouble free motoring and watch out for RX450h on the traffic lights, they are very quick just over 7 seconds to 62 miles. The fastest Mondeo diesel with 207 bhp engine will need 7.9 seconds and a lot of engine screaming and noise to go to 62 miles -
So you do not plant your right foot to the bottom then. I can't resist that powerful acceleration. My wife drives the RX during the week as I have one of the best cars for work ( a company diesel car which returns 60 mpg) and when I managed to get an excuse to drive the Lexus, I can not stop myself to feel that power of smooth acceleration. Maybe I will grow out of it one day( I hope not)

Congratulations on the new Advance RX450h. Great car. Please make sure you close the fuel cap properly when refuelling( every 300miles) otherwise you will get hybrid system messages on the screen. I think they have a sensor and if not closed properly makes the petrol to evaporate. Have you tried the acceleration from standing still or from any speed on a motorway for example? It goes like very smooth and powerful. Great car. Well done Lexus. Good choice and long and problems free driving.

Hi Ian, I have purchased in May 2018 RX450h 2012 with 161,000 on the clock and runs without any problems. One company owner from new with all Lexus main dealer stamps. I just test drive the car and called Lexus from the number on the service book to confirm if they have serviced and carried out all the jobs on the car and they confirmed it. I am so happy with the car and hope to use it for a long term 4-5 more years for about 8,000 miles a year. The high mileage specially on hybrids is not the same as with the combustion engines only. The combustion( petrol or diesel) engine is under the most stress when pulling off. The difference with hybrid system is you will have one or two electrical engines to get the car in motion and then the combustion engine will kick in to help if needed. This simple help from the electrical engine(s) is much appreciated by the combustion engine and that allows for high mileage without any major problems. You will be amazed of how well Lexus cars are put together. You will have a very good idea with comparing it to the SL 500. All the best and keep us updated.

Hi Mike, One option would be to test drive the Nissan Leaf https://www.nissan.co.uk/vehicles/new-vehicles/leaf.html if you are not doing more than 300 miles per day and if you have a driveway to install a charging station. Another cheaper option would be Auris Hybrid: https://www.toyota.co.uk/new-cars/auris/ which is actually your CT in Toyota cover with 5 years warranty and you can probably have it for £200pcm and £15 services and replace it with 2 years remaining warranty and less depreciation. I am driving a Lexus RX450h and find it a great car for my needs, so I am not promoting Nissan or Toyota. I have driven many cars before and once you get used to Hybrid you will be disappointed with combustion only engine. Maybe 100% electric is the future for you and Nissan might have the answer. Please keep us posted on your future plans and experience. -
Thanks Alex, I am on 170K now( 8 months after purchase). The car is very well build and with regular maintenance should be able to do a lot of trouble free miles. I had a little squicky noise from the auto tailgate when opening. A little bit of WD40 and it is all OK. Booked the next service with Twickenham Lexus, MOT and Health Check. Hope all will be OK. Happy driving.

Dear Lexus Owners, I recently bought a Lexus RX450h with 161,500 miles on the clock with full-service history from new at Lexus garage. No problems with the car at all apart from the driver side windscreen washer which stopped spraying water properly when you need to clean your windscreen. I have googled the issue and find youtube video telling me a valve under the cover needs replacing. £2.50 from eBay and 10 minutes later, now all works perfectly. Let us find the highest RX400h and RX450h, please. I would appreciate if you could specify the year and the miles, so we can see the average miles driven per year! Thank you in advance!

Just to add my view: I have purchased a 2012 RX450h with 161,000 miles in May 2018 for £11,500 and drove it about 9K by now. So 170,000 and nothing wrong with the car. Amazing reliability. When I purchase it, there was one company owner from new with all Lexus stamps and services. I just test drive it a bit and call Lexus from the stamps to confirm they have serviced the car. As soon as they confirmed that, I have purchased it( from a small independent dealer in Surrey, where I live). I am writing this to let people know these large engine cars with 2 electrical motors can do a lot of miles and they are great cars. A friend of mine is a mechanic and he told me the hybrid gets a lot of help on a stop start traffic from the electrical engines. They help the petrol engine with the start, when the most torque is required and that does not stress the petrol engine. If you have not decided on a car yet and are even considering anything else, please go to your local Lexus and just test drive one. All the best. Hope in a few years time, I would be able to announce the 200,000 miles and more after that. Happy driving
