  1. Personally I would try removing the phone from the cars settings and remove the car from the phone settings. I would then start again by re-pairing the phone to the car. If you have a laptop or other portable device in the house you can check if your personal hotspot works by trying to connect using that (eg connect your laptop WiFi to your iPhone using the password you’ve set). If this works you know your contract allows for tethering. Remember that sometimes the personal hotspot mode on the iPhone goes to sleep if not used for a while, which is why I recommend switching it off and back on again before trying a connection. I’ve just been out and checked again. With personal hotspot switched off I get the error shown below. When I switch it back on and try street view I get the ‘trying to connect’ graphic like your post earlier for a few seconds then the street view appears.
  2. Not tearing my hair out - just confused as mine connects without any issues. does your phone display the blue banner across the top at any point when the car is trying to connect? have you put your Lexus portal username/password into the settings in the car (no idea if these are even needed for street view to work but I know mine are entered). does your phone contract support personal hotspot (also known as tethering)? (majority of contracts do so unlikely to be an issue).
  3. The personal hotspot password is only applicable to WiFi connections. Not used for Bluetooth connections as you will have already ‘paired’ the phone (and therefore already authorised the connection). Based on what you’ve said it sounds like it is still trying to connect via WiFi? Did you turn WiFi power off on the car settings?
  4. Tony - try the following steps. Start the car On the car switch WiFi Power OFF. This is to stop the car trying to connect to your home WiFi. Check you iPhone to ensure it is connected to the car via Bluetooth (for hands free calls etc) Switch ON personal hotspot. (If already on, switch is off then on again to wake it up). On the car try accessing something on-line like street view. When the car makes an internet connection to the phone, the phone will show a blue banner across the top - the two interlocking rings is the symbol for personal hotspot. (On my iPhone XS I just get a blue clock in the top left but on an iPhone 6 you will probably get a banner across the top). see attached pictures.
  5. Family sharing is a relatively new feature in iOS which means family members on your iCloud account can use the hotspot without needing to know the WiFi password. You can approve/deny access in the family sharing sub menu.
  6. Just personal hotspot. One setting supports both WiFi and Bluetooth connections.
  7. As I said above, works with iPhone too. Just need to ensure ‘personal hotspot’ is switched on. No need to connect via WiFi - hotspot works over Bluetooth too.
  8. WiFi icon will only light up when it is actually connected to a WiFi network. This could be your home WiFi whilst parked outside your house or if your phone has WiFi Hotspot mode switched on. Each individual network will need to be registered / programmed into the car (just like connecting your phone to a friends WiFi) Miracast is some old proprietary system that allows phone screens to show - only worked with a limited number of devices. I’ve never used it. For Bluetooth connections I sometimes find I need to cycle off/on the personal hotspot mode on my iPhone. Glad you’ve got confirmation on the updates - not something I’ve looked at getting. I’ve just been taking the wording of the update website as true.
  9. I should add, there isn’t an internet icon as such. There is Bluetooth (C in the attached picture) and WiFi (D in the attached picture) - both are methods of connecting to the internet. Just because you don’t have the WiFi icon doesn’t mean you don’t have internet.
  10. In mine it does use Bluetooth for the internet connection (with an iPhone) as long as I have the personal hotspot function switched on. However I use it so rarely that the connection status isn’t something I monitor. When I do use it I find it ridiculously slow.
  11. Nigel - do you have a dash cam? I know by default that the Nextbase cam that dealers fit (I have one) makes an annoying sound on switch on and switch off. It is possible to change the settings on the camera though so make it quiet. Otherwise I’ve got no idea what kind of sounds you are referring to. If you could record it and upload somewhere that may help.
  12. Tony - the auto zoom changes the zoom level as you approach a junction. Although not labelled as such I think that 'near' sets the zoom to 50m, 'normal' is 100m. Can't remember what far. I find the feature useless as I generally have my zoom set to 20m anyway so even the 'near' setting would actually zoom out at junctions! I only see 3D landmarks in big cities and at high zoom levels (10m, 20m or 50m). I've never used the route trace or save feature so I can't comment on it. One thing I have noticed since updating both the maps (2019 v2) and software (1530) - I no longer get the split-screen junction view at junctions/turns (I still get slip roads on motorways though). Really annoying - another bug to write on the list 😞 - I believe this only ever worked when auto zoom was switched off, but now it doesn't matter what setting I have.
  13. I find mine fluctuates. Sometimes it reports '2019 v2', others it reports 'PONB00_2_NDSLIB'.
  14. It does that sometimes. Reboot the system (hold the audio power button in) and have another look.
  15. The updates are easy - just time consuming. Not noticed any changes as I wasn’t really having issues. They still haven’t fixed the bugs that annoy me (eg music files don’t play in the correct [track number] order). I occasionally use Lexus On Line (personal hotspot to an iPhone over Bluetooth). Only really used when I’m setting a navigation destination which doesn’t appear on the POI database - I use the google search instead. Works okay but I’m always surprised how slow it is. Where in Derbyshire are you Tony? I’m south Sheffield so help may not be too far away if you need it.
  16. Go to ‘Repair’ then ‘Technical Service Bulletin’. Type in your VIN or search for your car type. The details and download links are in TSB: BE-00006L-TME TSB: BE-00143L-TME also contains updated software for the audio/Bluetooth system You will need a paid subscription to access this - costs about £3 for an hours access.
  17. On the paid part of the Lexus Tech website, there is a new software version for the Navigation (MEU) to version 1530. Nothing significant just more bug fixes.
  18. This update will just be for the map data - it will not change the software/user interface.
  19. Not installed it yet - will probably try this weekend. It is '2019 v2'
  20. From my (limited) research, I think version A36 is '2018 v2' (also known as 928) The code name for '2019 v1' looks like it will be A4D or 929 I get some 3D buildings, but only in major city centres.
  21. Try checking the version at different times. I find that sometimes my system displays the nice name (2019 v1) and other times it displays the internal code number (like A36). I did have a list somewhere that gave the code number for each different version but I can’t find it.
  22. Latest version is 2019 v1 new version probably due in November.
  23. Batteries perform worse in cold weather and it takes longer for the engine to get to optimum temperature.
  24. My NX has a digital clock in the centre of the dash as well as the analogue one in the middle.
