  1. As above. Do not do it yourself. While it worked for me first time all those years ago, there are too many reports of the update failing and it bricking the unit, requiring an expensive replacement. Contact a Lexus dealer to enquire about costs - they may do it at the same time as a service?
  2. My old NX was a Jan 2018 registered car and was successfully upgraded (larger wide Nav screen) Some dealers did upgrades for free whilst carrying out a service, but most as Colin said charged between £80-£100. It takes quite a while to do and get right so I understand why there is a cost. If it goes wrong your entire media system is bricked.
  3. The wider 10.3 screen doesn’t take an SD card (if it did there would be an SD card slot behind a flat on the panel behind the gear stick). The wider screen has updates installed via USB that are downloaded from Lexus-tech.eu Look at my other threads for details on how to install. There may be a charge if your car is over 3 yrs old.
  4. 2018 model? Are you sure it needs an SD card? What sizes screen does it have?
  5. It can be done if you have the right nav system, but not recommended as there is a high chance of bricking your system. Whilst I successfully installed the upgrade in my old NX, there were a number of people that had failures. You would be better off contacted your nearest Lexus centre and enquiring about the CarPlay upgrade cost. From what others have said it is anything from ‘free’ if you are having a service up to around £100 (as it does take quite a while to do). This info may be out of date though. l’ve just looked on the tech website and the software looks like it is still there to download - I don’t have a current subscription to check though. From memory you download the instructions and the download links are contained within these instructions.
  6. AC means it only works the Apple CarPlay and not Android Auto. I used to have one of these devices and found it worked very well (no longer own the NX). I never had any issues with CarPlay either wired or wireless using this device. The device can be seen in action on this video in my old 2018 NX https://youtu.be/s_9WSf2c1Tg
  7. Yes, that looks like the same system I had in my 2018 NX, so it can be upgraded.
  8. Not had my IS since 2018 so I’m not sure what the latest updates are.
  9. A lot of EV drivers appears to have issues with their 12V batteries if you read the various forums. They appear to fit quite small powered batteries which can run down easily with powering the alarm etc if left for a long time or a slight fault drains them. I’ve got two EVs and thankfully haven’t had an issue yet.
  10. I upgraded my own unit when the software was first released and it worked fine. Then I read a number of stories of bricked units and I realised how lucky I’d been.
  11. Yes that system should be able to have the CarPlay upgrade carried out. You have the MM17 / CY17 system. Best done by a dealer. They may charge for this.
  12. Looks like the next map update for the widescreen nav systems (MM17/MM19) has gone live in the last few days - 2021v2 As usual check out lexus-tech.eu for details/downloads (free account required). I've posted instructions for installing in many older threads.

  13. Should be free if your car is under three years old.
  14. Your pictures show that the main NavDb installed is 2020v1. However on another picture I can see that 2021v1 for your region has been installed on top of this - this will have been done in the car using WiFi. I have done this in my old NX in the past and this is exactly how it looked. If you want the NavDB to update to 2021v1 you can follow my instructions in my other thread, but the maps for your area are already up to date so you aren’t missing out.
  15. It is possible to do it yourself but I wouldn’t recommend it. If it goes wrong you could completely brick your Nav system and need to spend ££££ to fix it. I did upgrade my own last year and realised afterwards how lucky I was when I saw so many reports of failure.
