    Just had a call from Lexus Hedge End, the part has not arrived so re-booked for 11th April now.

    I agree, the practice of quoting you an extortionate figure for renewing your insurance has been stopped or at least I believe it was. I read on a forum the other day that an insurance company refused to pay out a claim because the owner had a a paint protection film applied and didn't tell them, so a word of caution. I was charged an extra £80 for the fact I'd had mine wrapped which is again a rip-off but hey-ho

    I must admit to using price comparison web sites for my insurance, lets face it they try their level best to worm their way out of any claim so I have no problem going with who is the best for price and cover.

    Might be worth checking out Hedge End if convenient. In the three or so years I've been using them I can not fault them, Julie immediately arranged a courtesy car when I booked mine in plus the guy who services my car seems to like the RCF.

    I guess I knew all along that the RCF is not a track oriented car and to have someone like him confirm that was okay with me. As I have said and done if you fancy going on track buy a VX220 Turbo you'll have a lot of fun running circles around most cars. It was his comments on the road that stuck with me, of course there are more finely tuned road cars out there but he did say the RCF grows on you and long term it has worked out a better option than the obvious.

    Savage Geese are very good with all their reviews and have updated the RCF review to the later model. Compared to Doug the Manure they are 1000 times better but with a lot less people watching says something about Youtube for sure. When considering the RCF I watched the Chris Harris review of the RCF again compared to many he's last comments about the RCF stuck in my mind.

    I decided to tax the RCF this morning as I thought it might go up in the budget. Although my car wasn't registered until 31/5/2017 the tax is £165 for the year so decided to go ahead. I had planned to hold out until May but it would appear there is no need. Think I might just go out and waste some petrol today.

    Try owning a CL65 AMG I sold mine just before it's big service an eye watering £3600 way back when. You had to have it serviced at a main dealer so as you qualified for the warranty at about £1900. My RCF is due the 6 year big service this year as well having only covered 12000 miles in total but I still think that compared to a lot of my past cars the RCF is a cheap car to run.

    I'm not fussed over the courtesy car either, they gave me an NX SUV thing last time and it made me realise why I didn't buy the LS600h all those years ago. Ten minutes in it with that CVT outbox had me wishing I didn't have another 30 more minutes in it. Still mustn't grumble it is free more or less.

    Hope so, I'm leaving the car there and driving home in a courtesy car which are not normally to my taste, so if I get stuck with a car I don't like it will be a pain as I'm just taking it off SORN tomorrow.

    Was that with Hedge End Lexus? I've got mine booked for the 17th of March. Should I be proactive and phone them and ask about the parts and if there might be a problem.

    I agree it seems very unfair in Ireland.It's just a bad system. An additional figure on petrol seems to be a better idea but again knowing how greedy Governments are over anything to do with the motorists I guess even that could and would be exploited

    Didn't realise that and it's good to know, the wife always has it serviced at our local Toyota garage anyhow. Surprised me that none of the Yaris range has heated seats as standard considering who buys them I'd have thought it an essential item.

    A small update on replacing the Yaris, it would appear our wonderful Government have decided to screw you by placing a £145 road tax on the new Yaris models. We immediately decided sod that so we will run our current Yaris for as long as we can. No point replacing something that is working fine.

    We run a Yaris Hybrid and have since 2012 as you say zero road tax and the car is now approaching 90K trouble free miles. We are debating buying a new Yaris, I keep hinting about the GR but it's not her sort of thing plus we only use it for shopping.

    That's correct here is my old one, track prepped and same horsepower as my RCF and cheap road tax because it was classed as a 1300cc engine

    Dead right, it was just luck on my part though as this car had all the extras I wanted. Unfortunately for me just after I bought it I sold the last part of my business so I had no need to travel from Portsmouth to Donington Park Raceway or even up to Faslane. Hence why the very low mileage to date which I expect will change over the next few years.

    Yes weird isn't it, even unjust I'd say. I plan to get out more in it this year as it's only done 12000 miles. But then nothing governments do seems to make any sense at all

    Agreed, weird though isn't it. but I guess having paid extra road tax for a while it will take a while to benefit

    Trust me I'm absolutely 100% spot on with this figure, (says he with a big smile across his face) in fact I'd have taxed it today if I wasn't so tight.

    it came as a pleasant surprise today when I checked out the DVLA web site as I'm considering taking the car off SORN to find that the ripp-off road tax for my car will be £165 odd a year Now I now it's really picky/pedantic of me to hate paying road tax but the fact my gas guzzling V8 470 BHP car is only a relatively small sum to tax now. I am holding out until the 1st of March to tax it as we are too far into this month to volunteer a few quid extra, but I'll wait.

    Good luck with the sale, I'm probably stating the obvious here but be prepared for an onslaught of idiots/chancers and wide boys. I've had mine up for sale on and off for about a year now and I have the 'in your dreams' reply firmly implanted in my reply vocabulary, honestly the number of dealers who want to take your car on a sale or return basis is very high too. I had a company near Chichester with a very Italian sounding name contact me a few times, at one stage I thought why not until a friend of mine told me in no uncertain circumstances should I go near them (I didn't ask why but he knows things)
