  1. No problem, I do remember many years ago I was part of a car club that were displaying at Beaulieu and I didn't arrive until 11 am, at that time the marshals were quite happy to guide me to my display parking, so you never know.
  2. Are the members attending in agreement of this idea?
  3. Indeed it does, plus it has vented seats so that's the decision made for me. I have always been a bit sceptical as to the quality of USA vehicles interiors in general. A good friend of mine bought an enormous and expensive RV and inside the fake wood and general finish looked utter rubbish for a vehicle of it's price. But having recently looked inside at it again I realise that it did look cheap but wasn't, insofar it was made of good quality materials they just looked cheap.
  4. Got to talk to an authorised outlet in Surrey, it looks like realistically mid 2021 for delivery I'm guessing £80K+ and a £2.5K deposit puts you on the list. Food for thought, I really like my RCF and usually only keep my cars for a year but I'd be quite happy to keep the RCF until the new Corvette arrives decisions, decisions eh!
  5. I'm going to phone some Chevrolet dealers today to ask about putting a deposit on one. I'm not sure if this will change but there doesn't seem to be many dealers in my area. Still I'll do some phone calls and see what the situation is. I've always loved the very early stingrays but this is what perhaps Lotus should have made, as I have sort of missed my Esprit V8, maybe not the bills for stupid things like mixed metal unions and general suspect build quality and so on and so on.
  6. If everyone is in agreement it may be an idea to meet at Rownhams at 8.30 to depart for the event at 9, that way we should be able to arrive at the event in good time before the 10 am deadline.
  7. That's good to hear as I was a bit put off by the interior quality of the Mustang and thought maybe at this price point compromises may have to be on the quality of the interior.
  8. Yes by all accounts a RHD is on the cards plus it could hit our shores at less than £80K. Now if the proposed LCF doesn't cut it here we have an alternative. https://motorsport.tv/embed/VTmZHbFf-2020-c8-corvette-stingray-first-look?autoplay
  9. Great work thanks, so it looks like meeting at Rownams at 10am Sunday morning may not be such a good idea.
  10. It looks like Chevrolet are introducing a mid engined N/A V8 Corvette for all us N/A V8 lovers. I expect it will be a bit 'plasticy' and have a cheap interior compared to the RCF/GSF but it does look tempting to me.
  11. Probably stating the obvious but I'm sure everyone will know to meet on the Westbound Rownams service area.
  12. Good honest review, I agree about the gearing being long but I like the fact that it is as I use mine in manual most of the time and find 2nd and 3rd a pleasure to be in on a twisty road. It's good to see reviews like this because that walking willy dopey whining Dozy Doug from the States seems to get a lot of plays on Youtube.
  13. I'm still of the opinion that the track edition is more style (and not that good either) over substance. It can't be aimed at the serious track day owner because there are far, far better cars for the money. As a person who has enjoyed track days for over 30 years I still say there are cars for the road and cars for the track. I've had two cars that I rate as good road cars and decent on track that was my RX7 (400BHP and light ) and a Porsche Boxster S with Carbon Ceramic brakes. As I have said before for the sort of money you'd pay out for this car you could buy a good spec 2017 RCF and a dedicated track day car, you can insure the track day to get 12 days on track for the same sort of money it would cost to get one days cover for the RCF track edition and of course it won't matter if you land up in the kitty litter with a track day car but it could be very expensive with carbon ceramic discs on the RCF if you chip them.
  14. It's called Rownams Services and is accessible after leaving the M3 and joining the M27. 10.30 sounds fine to me as I guess most of the queues will have gone by the time we hit the event.
  15. Sounds a good plan. There are services on the M27 is that a good place. Should be accessible from M3 direction too
  16. I used to go in my CL65, the only car that didn't have enough space for grass cuttings was my Lotus Esprit. I did get a permit to use one of my vans but at the tip the Tip Gestapo are on me like flies on **** and I'm told the new permits are £15 and you have to use the 12 visits in a year. Greedy councils, mind you it's trickle down from the Government i suppose.
  17. Thank you very much, sure enough it was that. Now I have to find the knob who pressed it, oh wait a minute, it could have been me.
  18. Just about to take some grass cuttings to the tip and the boot refuses to open, tried both remotes and pressing the rubber covered button on rear, nothing working. I guess it may be something simple like a fuse but the fuse box in the engine compartment doesn't want to open either or at least I don't know how to open it. Any advice?
  19. There are a few threads over on the USA RCF forum about squealing brakes, it seems Endless MX72 from Nengun Performance are popular but expensive, may be worth you checking out the various threads relating to it. I'm a few thousand miles less than you but have not noticed any squeal yet (now isn't that just tempting fate) I understand we have yet another mutual acquaintance in Matt from the Lotus Anorak group.
  20. Whilst at our monthly Lotus Anorak meeting last night I spotted a blue RCF going past the Seven Stars at Stroud anyone on here? We were the scruffy bunch standing in the car park around my red RCF and a couple of Lotus cars, if anyone is around we meet on the first Monday of the month (except Bank Holidays when it's the Monday following) as most of us have strayed from a Lotus car I'm sure nobody will kick up a fuss if another RCF or GSF turns up.
  21. It still works out a bloody expensive way to buy a car in my opinion, if my maths are correct £87K is way beyond what I'd consider. I know it works okay for some people for instance a girl I know gets a £1500 a month allowance in her salary package for a car so I guess that makes sense in her case.
  22. Never liked the idea of PCP and personally wouldn't do it myself. But with the choice of high spec late RCF's drying up in the secondhand market this seems to be the only show in town. As a rule I've always bought my cars when they are 3-5 years from new, so far I have bought many very high price cars for far less than half their original price, some have been so low in mileage they were like a brand new car. I did break my rules with the RCF as the colour, spec etc was exactly what I wanted and being just over a year old with 6000 miles on the clock was still in my mind a bargain price.
  23. It might be an idea to start a list, if so. 1. B1RMA , RCF
  24. According to the USA based forum one dealer is asking an additional premium for this model making it well over $140K.
  25. That's the thing with black cars though isn't it, they look fabulous once all the swirls have been done and a good wax polish. I've had two black cars and one weekend a long time ago I set to work on my RX7. With a Meguiars DA polisher and three bottles of Maguiars Ultimate Finish I managed to get it nearly perfect. I then followed it with some Pinnacle Souveran wax it went on like butter and came off with little work. I then entered it into our local Jap Car Club event and won the shiniest car award piston, enclosed is a photo of it that I've kept since 2009.
