  1. Do you by any chance know the make of dyno? the reason I ask is that back in the days when my RX7 was being tuned/rebuilt/costing a fortune the guys who did it had a Dyno Dynamics rolling road that they said really underated the power output. Whereas I know many overestimate the power.
  2. About a year (as usual) great fun on track, engine rebuilds are a fact of life but an opportunity to upgrade power. Sorry for the thread hijack Cactus but when I start on about some of the cars I've owned there's no stopping me.
  3. Thanks, loved the RX7 it went like a rocket 385 bhp on twin turbos not a single. The Mini is the colour of old police cars.
  4. I had Tein fitted to my track/road going RX7 years and years ago and never had a problem with them in all the time I had the car. Here are some photos of the Minivan , it's had a re-map, K&N filter conversion, Tein EDFC coilovers, Yellow Racing big brake kit all round and Rota wheels with PS4 tyres and extended arches. When I first bought it the ride was 'entertaining' but a bit tiresome once you didn't want to blast around. As soon as I heard that Tein did an active system suitable for it I bought it straight away and had it fitted. What I like about the system is you can set it around medium then if you get a move on it tightens up nicely. Before Tein it was a local runaround after Tein it was more than comfortable enough for longer journeys.
  5. It's worth every penny of that cost, although mine is installed in my Mini Clubvan I have to say it has been faultless, as you say it's so comprehensive with regards to setting etc. If it is ever available for the RCF it would be essential for pre AVS cars
  6. I'm of the opinion this will suit the USA more than the UK, Looks good though. It's not an F though.
  7. You should have a look at the Tein EDFC coilover system I believe a member here has done it. I've fitted it to my hot Mini Clubvan and it is night and day ride wise.
  8. I posted a brief summary yesterday, as usual may have got the warranty cost wrong though, can't be bothered to change it. Wasn't this the car with no service history?
  9. I'm not surprised, I did a long run and got similar although I use mine mainly for blasting around our local A roads in Sports+ and manual and get about 20
  10. Big Rat (Paul) was/is a member on here who knew of just about every RCF in the country. Since selling his RCF he has not posted much lately. But it's always nice to hear from him.
  11. But remember the dealer probably puts another £500+ on the price of a car for cleaning the inside.
  12. One of my last cars had a 3M film on the bonnet front wings and grill area I understand it was expensive but it really did preserve the car. I've been told the latest clear films are even better considering how soft the RCf paint is I wonder if this might be a good option. Not sure how the film would react to the soft paint though and wonder if the eventual removal of the film might cause problems.
  13. They do mark very easily, my car is less than 8000 miles and they look pretty scuffed, I've tried various products like plastic headlight lens refurbishing compound and that seemed to make them worse. Carbon fibre replacements would look out of place and probably tougher but I'm not sure anyone makes them.
  14. Do let us know how you get on, one of the members on here bought a Quadrifoglio, I looked at one too and liked it but didn't need a four door four seater. Nice car but I got the impression after a bit of research that the dealers are on the whole second rate and that's putting it kindly.
  15. Don't get me started on Aston Martins, I had arranged a test drive with a main dealer in Walton on Thames to test a fabulous looking light green metallic AM V8S soft top. In my usual car buying spree I had set a budget so was testing the AM first, an Audi R8 followed by an AMG all about the same price. I took the Aston Martin out and within two minutes I hated it, the gear shifts with the paddles lurched you forward, I said to the salesman the last time I tested a paddle shift so bad it was in a Maserati 4200 to which he replied it's the same company who make the Aston Martin one. I even tried the car in full auto and didn't like it either, the engine sounded dreadful and overall I came away with a dream shattered. Bought the AMG in the end. A friend of mine has one of the new DB11 V12's it is a much better car than the older models.
  16. Indeed it does if I remember correctly the OEM discs front and back (just the discs in steel) for my CL65 were around £4K. So it makes the RCF pretty inexpensive, although it would appear from a previous thread that the RCF discs seem to wear out pretty quick. Not sure if that's a case of softer steel or harder pads.
  17. The later cars have the AVS (active variable suspension) which is something I particularly like. If you are trying the 2018 car try it for yourself in normal mode it is very comfortable but if you switch it to Sport+ you can feel the car stiffen up significantly. The adjustment to this is on the round dial on the centre console. You can also get a Torque Vectoring Diff which again is down to personal choice, but I like it as an option. And don't worry about all these complex devices because it's a Lexus, I would avoid such things on my previous cars because I just knew it would cost a fortune to maintain or repair but no such worries with a Lexus (so far) Big service was just under £500 interim about £300 the comprehensive warranty is about £400 a year (I may have got some figures out but not by much) Compared the my last two AMG's and my Porsche the RCF is as cheap as chips to run
  18. Good choice, as a bit of a serial car changer (once a year) so far my RCF has bucked that trend and I like the car more now than when I first test drove it. I'd stick to a main dealer if possible for buying the car or at least from someone on here. One thing to note when trying the RCF if you've had turbo or supercharged cars is that with the N/A engine you do have to work it. And that is part of the pleasure with the RCF, I have read comments on other forums about them being a bit lifeless at lower revs and to a certain degree that is true. Mine can get into 6th gear just a couple of hundred metres down the road.So on the test drive shift the car into manual and try/enjoy the car in manual mode. I drive mine more or less all the time in the manual setting and of course when you fit a proper aftermarket exhaust on the car you can really enjoy the proper sound of a 5 litre N/A engine as it should be. Everything else apart from the say nav is top notch including ridiculously low serving and warranty costs. 20 MPG by the way.
  19. Don't forget the heated steering wheel. As you say and I suspected something else to make the un-enlightened buyer (if there are any these days who haven't cottoned on to sale BS) more confused.
  20. The only problem I have with black is that the seat bases tend to get very hot in the summer months, I've found the light colour to be quite a bit more easy to live with when it's sunny and the car is parked up.
  21. What on earth is a plus pack am I being cynical is this more salespeak? No TVD from what I can see.
