  1. For the money the Quicksilver is a very nice sounding exhaust, as mentioned it can drone at certain motorway speeds and on a few occasions have had to find the sweet spot in the revs to stop my passenger (wife) moaning, whereas on my own I just turn the sounds up higher. Having seen and heard the Armytrix and the GT Haus if I were in the position of choosing an aftermarket exhaust I'd buy one of these two, purely for the fact you can switch it off. Plus of course the secondhand market for them is a damn sight livelier than for the cars.
  2. My past experience of selling cars leads me to think Karl is more a 'magic bean' currency man. This is the first car that I've advertised that hasn't sold in two weeks or less, and certainly isn't the most expensive. As Flytvr says maybe not so easy to move on, can't for the life of me see why though.
  3. I thought I'd priced the car in basic form i.e. with the Quicksilver and the standard wheels at £42K very well . The Vossen wheels can be bought with the car at a discounted price but I have several people interested in them if the car goes as standard. For a 2017 car with just over 9000 miles with all the extras I thought was a bargain. As you say the car market has changed there are less people with real trouser money these days with the advent of PCP. I am in the process of clearing what my wife calls clutter, I buy and sell Fender Custom Shop guitars, watches and pens as a pastime and have been guilty of being a bit of a hoarder, and of course the sale of such things could be a burden to her in the event of anything happening to me. Plus the cost of securely storing the items is an expensive business these days plus the hassle of getting them out etc. I'm guilty of being far too fickle regarding cars so it may be time to give myself a good slap in the face and enjoy what I have. Either way I'm not fussed now about selling the RCF as I still like it and waiting to see what the new Corvette C8 turns out like will be something to look forward to.
  4. You do get some strange ones in this world.
  5. I just have to share this with you, it was a recent enquiry from Autotrader. This was the question, Hi Can you tell me if there are any issues with the car e.g. leaks around the water pump? Have the fuel injectors been replaced? Also, I'd like to look at the MOT history of the vehicle. Could I have the reg please? Thanks. Karl. My reply. Hi Karl, is this a wind-up? It's a Lexus they don't go wrong. It hasn't had an MOT yet because it's so new it's 9000 miles not 90000. Regards, Now at this stage I will say my reply is somewhat diplomatic.
  6. Further investigations relating to the dodgy owner are my first thoughts on that photo
  7. Due to a less than perfect update on my home Mac computers I have lost a couple of nice photos of the rear diffuser on my car along with other stuff. But if you do a search of 'RCF diffuser mod' on here you can see the one another member bought which is the same as mine. It fits perfectly and to be honest for what some might consider a cheap crap extrusion it's pretty damn good, it matches the existing black rear nicely and is a simple perfect fit too. Plus it is quite a way under the car so nobody will ever know.
  8. Just a quick update, the RCF hasn't sold yet. I've had quite a few people come to try it (no surprise there) but nobody has actually offered near what I want, So for the time being it will remain advertised but I'll more than likely keep it and stick to my original plan of keeping it until the new Corvette C8 hits the UK, past experience has taught me not to be buying the first batch of cars from a new production run. My modified Mini Clubvan is up for sale as I don't have a use for it now I've sold the business. My 2 ultra expensive Fender Custom guitars are heading back home to the States they sold in an instant, the other lower priced ones are on e-bay at the moment. Went to look at both the GTO MR and a 300 ZX and no surprise neither where up to my requirements, I may go through Goo-Net or similar as there are some pristine ones for sale in Japan for not a lot of money.
  9. I bought the cheap £13 diffuser from e-bay, fits nicely and hasn't fallen off yet.
  10. No problem Simran, if by any chance someone doesn't want the exhaust you'll be first on my list to let know. Having said that everyone who has enquired after the car want it as is so can't imagine it will go without the exhaust and wheels. But it's nice to know I have options, plus I'm in no hurry to sell as I don't start trying the cars on my list until next week.
  11. Just a quick update, I've had more enquiries about the wheels and the exhaust than the car. I've refrained from my usual reply of 'Hey man, care to share some of that stuff you're smokin?' for the time being, but I'm tempted having had 4 insulting offers, but hey I do it.
  12. It looks similar to the GPS unit I have for the suspension in my Mini
  13. This has a nice lighter metallic grey/silver fleck so may be lees work to keep clean. I've had two black cars both looked lovely but by God were they a pain to keep clean.
  14. I agree, having seen/heard both I think the valved system is and sounds better.
  15. Well done, and welcome to RCF ownership. It looks to be a very nice car, and of course according to the film the black ones can fly.
  16. Yes I have watched both of the videos. To be honest after reading through virtually all the posts in the McLaren section of Pistonheads it would be difficult to conclude anything other than the fact they are a bit risky. This is 99% from owners too, the only way one can draw a sensible conclusion about a car. I understand there is also a bit of a problem selling them on other than to upgrade with a dealer for another McLaren. I'm thinking my original plan to buy the new Corvette C8 when it comes over to the UK is probably going to be the master plan now.
  17. I did look at one at the same time as the RCF. Nice car, but again had read about the truly awful main dealers so decided to give it a miss.
  18. I'm going to arrange to drive one, as you say good bit of kit, I had an Alpine A610 at the same time as I had my V8 Esprit and I always preferred the Alpine to the the Lotus
  19. You're right, I have been following the various threads on Pistonheads in the Mclaren section for well over 9 months now and have slowly concluded that although they are a real bargain in relative terms for a car that's about a year or two old with no mileage really, they are as bad as Lotus. The question is why do they do this, I've had a Lotus on and off since my first Europa in 1972 and every car without exception has been dreadful, be it mixed metal unions that mean dismantling is out of the question to stupid design errors that allow water to damage sensitive electrical items both McLaren and Lotus do this. There is no doubt that both cars have no equals as far as roadholding and feedback is concerned it's just after taking the car for a good blast then finding something wrong the next day is a often experienced scenario that I don't really want to repeat.
  20. Will do, my wife can't understand why I put up with selling cars on so often and I have to admit you do get some characters, when I was selling my SL63 I had quite a few couples just coming along to have a ride in a sports car, weird I know I just wouldn't think of doing that, still it takes all sorts and I've learnt how to filter them out now and look forward to the parade of folk coming my way. Still it helps fill the retirement day other than playing World of Warships.
  21. I am looking at a Mitsubishi GTO MR and a 300zx both cars from an era I like. Next I'll try the new Alpine A110 as I had a 610. Then last of all having sold my business and a few of my Fender Custom Shop guitars a McLaren 720s although I'm beginning to think they are worse than Lotus on the reliability stakes so not sure if I will go any further on that.
