As this pandemic takes hold it's looking like it is going to have a profound effect on both the small business owner and those employed by them in the future. Having read through a few motoring forums it's already looking like quite a few owners are having to sell their pride and joy. Many years ago I had a larger than expected tax bill and had no alternative other than to sell my pride and joy to pay it. As fate would have it I bought it back 10 years later.

RCF Interim service
B1RMA replied to The Bodyman's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
From my experience with servicing on my car it seems it's just a case of doing it at the given interval possibly for warranty purposes. Mine had a 10000 miles service done at 5106 miles and the owner was charged £215. My last service a full 20000 mile service was done when the car had 7891 miles on the clock and cost £595. Just to put this into perspective though if anyone has owned an AMG, Aston Martin etc these service costs are as I always say 'as cheap as chips' plus when you consider how good the warranty is it makes owning an RCF a very attractive sensible proposition. -
I couldn't remember if I had posted any photos in this section, anyway just in case it's an age thing I'll post up some since the new wheels were fitted.

Not a big fan of Tom Jones but since he stopped dying his hair black and engaged with getting older his voice on the Leonard Cohen song is for a live performance pretty much up there with the best.

Yes I remember the old saying that green cars were unlucky, it makes you wonder where these sayings came from although I can see that a green car on country roads may be difficult to spot. I'm not a fan of green but on that RCF it just seems to work, an old school-friend of mine has a large collection of old Jag's and although not to my liking I find his BRG V12 E type quite acceptable. -

No meetings of large groups

I tell ya mankind is doomed, could not believe it going up to my local supermarket shelves were empty. -
Just to give you my opinion as a Lotus owner on and off since 1972. I have fallen out with a number Lotus Fan Boys over on TLF due to my honest warts an all opinions of owning a Lotus. First off the Evora has roadholding and feedback to the driver that is unequaled in so many respects, one of my fellow Lotus Anoraks (this is a group of about 10-15 who have owned and been members of Club Lotus for 30 plus years) brought a new demonstrator along to one of our monthly meetings. With less than 1000 miles on the clock the rear reflector had fallen off and the other one was loose, the quality of finish compared to say a Lexus is pretty much second rate. Lotus like fellow British car maker McLaren they really take the p**s of folk who put their hard earned into buying one of their products. Having said that the local Hedge End dealer who is also a Lexus dealer are by all accounts rather good. When they are running well they are beyond doubt superlative when they are not you want to do what I was very tempted to doon several occasions do a Basil Fawlty. I could probably ramble on for many, many pages but will refrain.

I must admit I'm not a lover of green cars either but for some reason or other it seems to work on the car. It seems an awful lot of the cars in the USA have gone for the extreme slammed look, probably a reaction against the enormous gap on the car as standard, I find the wheel arch gap in the standard RCF just not right for my taste maybe 25mm lower would be fine. Malcolmw, you're right about black the seats in my SL63 were black and I soon learned to shut the roof in the summer . -

I agree the lowering has gone too far, but that's the problem with the RCF or at least mine with AVS insofar as putting a lowering kit on has possible warranty issues and I don't fancy either spending any more on the car knowing how hard they are to shift or open a whole world of pain warranty wise. If only Tein did an EDFC kit for the RCF like they do for the ISF if they ever do it makes buying the earlier cars a whole new ball game, as I know from my Mini Clubvan and of course an ISF owner on here who has it fitted. It is literally night and day as far as all aspects of ride and comfort are concerned. -

Well done I just couldn't get to post them up (lack of ability on my part). I agree with you it's a bit too slammed for my taste, but that colour really suits the RCF like the wheels too, but then I'm a sucker for bronze coloured wheels. -
I have never seen another colour, called Alpine Blue by all accounts. They were made in Spain and one other country as far as I know. The one I looked at was a Spanish made car which is why it was cheaper than those made in France.

Quite some time ago I nearly bought this from Justin Banks in the days when he was a decent car dealer for the princely sum of £9K, like the Lancia Integrale Evo though I just couldn't get on with LHD

I've still got my extended test drive of the Alpine A 110 booked for next week so we will see. The wife gave me a filthy look when I told her that I was keeping the RCF and the Mini plus checking out the Alpine. I did have three cars some time ago interestingly it was an Alpine A 610 and Esprit V8 and my Phaeton Luxo Barge. Perhaps too greedy.

I can't get a link to work, it is in the RCF owners group on Facebook but trying to make a link work seems to be above my pay grade. If you can find it or find Bluebat Overlays you'll see green really suits the RCF -
Hopefully this link will work, I think this colour really suits theRCF Typical Facebook, anyway it's a green wrap on an RCF looks really nice I think it's bluebat overlays who did it

Well I think it's fair to say that selling an RCF is not as easy as I thought. Being a serial car changer (now reformed I hasten to add) I have never had trouble selling my previous cars in fact I've sold most within two-four weeks but not the RCF. I've had several offers/enquiries but none have come to fruition, I very nearly did a S.O.R. with a local outfit that deals with some nice high end cars, they contacted me to say they would be very interested in taking it in. Of course they could offer all sorts of finance packages and part exchange which of course had me at a big disadvantage as it seems by all accounts there aren't that many people with real trouser money these days. I decided not to go down that path though. I very nearly sold my modified Mini Clubvan too and there is a really pi**ed off vet in Huddersfield who has some very unpleasant things to say about me and quite rightly too. It's just seeing someone really enjoying the vehicle made me think on the way home and I decided to text him to tell him the deal was off. Same thing with the RCF, I've tried a few cars and every time driving back in the RCF I think to myself why on earth do I have this obsession with changing a car after a year and only a few thousand miles when this car is so much better? So I've had a serious talk to myself and put things right and will now enjoy both vehicles and use them a bit more.

Video - GS-F review from TFL
B1RMA replied to Farqui's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
I was interested in the times posted at the end of the video that is the RCF did it in 1:04.88 which i'm guessing was a summer timed lap, still respectable though. -

He does indeed, good review though. -
Just one of those strange phenomenon I guess, as someone said to me the other day how can you get bored with a car you’ve only done a couple of thousand miles in. Time to get sensible me thinks
-
Very good, I like it. But on the subject of trying to sell an RCF it has surprised me, and yet I have been wracking my brain cell thinking what in the £40K price range appeals to me and would be a decent reliable replacement and i honestly can't find one. Hopefully I will sell my modified Mini Clubvan at the week-end so have one less vehicle so I'll start to use the RCF more for the tip runs etc.
-
Tell me about it, mine hasn't sold so I'm keeping it until the new Corvette C8 has been out a while. Haven't bothered to use the car much but today went for a blast and had a good race with a modified VXR I'd forgotten how much fun these cars can be. Don't think there's much money about these days though, I've got part of my huge guitar collection up for sale, the really expensive ones sold in days (one a Playboy Strat sold in 4 hours) but the others in the £2-5K bracket are hanging about a bit. Car wise I think PCP has had an effect on selling cars at a certain price point either that or RCF's are Sh*t secondhand wise
