Excellent, I saw him live once and he hit a note and the sustain was so long it hurt your ears. I've been trying to find a clip where he does this and found one on one of my CD's its a tribute to SRV and his playing/sustain is about 14 minutes in, beautiful.

Which music do you prefer to listen to in the car?

I read an article some time ago that stated those listening to Rock or fast paced music tend to drive like a Bat out of Hell, not sure how well that was researched. -
Another RCF review by sarah
B1RMA replied to JonP's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Well if Doug Da Manure can get millions of views for his rather crap reviews this should do okay, the one he did on the Mini Clubvan as well as the RCF is unforgivable. -
I think it is so cheap compared to other cars I've had most of which were a good £2K for a year it seems silly not to have it for that just in case event, which as we all know does come around now and then.
-
I'm wondering where I stand because when I bought my car I thought it had a one year warranty, now as the three year warranty runs out on mine June of this year do I qualify for an extra year after the standard warranty?
-
I agree, easiest way to get revenue from those who use the roads the most. The system is already in place as VAT is charged and processed on fuel. If that ridiculous VED cost comes in for cars like ours I'll just SORN it and use it for one month night and day so I burn my years fuel in one month of continuous driving.
-
Thanks, didn't know that. Every little helps I guess.
-
Not sure, just checked the registration document. Date of first registration 31/06/2017, first part states 251 G/KM then further down Exhaust Emissions CO 242 and it states additional rate of VED until 30/09/2022
-
I pay by direct debit monthly, it's £40.68 per month I find this easier if you have to SORN the vehicle as you can just set it up for the month or two rather than paying in one lot and trying/waiting to get the tax refund. Works for me anyhow. Unfortunately most of my cars have been in the £500 per year bracket, I hate that fact but hey you just have to accept it Just did the maths that costs £488.16 a year so maybe later cars had lower figures because that figure includes a small charge for the 12 payments.

Premium fuel cost/benefit for F cars
B1RMA replied to B1RMA's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
I agree, plus V-Power is known to go 'off' too. I was told the other day that Sainsburys do a premium fuel that is supposed to come from BP, not sure how accurate that is but it's another source of premium fuel all the time V-Power is so expensive. -
Interesting. Are they known to be reliable? I can only go by my personal experience, first of all i had them on my track prepped RX7 and they were fine, about three years later I saw my car at Japfest on display (well it was a nice car) with a number of bikini clad girls all over it, I managed to talk to the current owner and asked about the car. It still had the bright green shocks on it and he said everything on the car was good. I've had what you would consider a complex EDFC system fitted to the Mini about a year ago now and it is performing well with no issues. It's interesting that shock absorbers seem to get a lot of comments, when we were upgrading my track prepped VX220 Turbo people on the forum said Quantums were leaky and other brands this and that. In the end I opted for Quantum and never had a problem with the Quantums, if there was a Tein system for the car I'd have bought it.
-
Not only that but the Tein EDFC system is infinitely adjustable. The ride in my Minivan pre Tein was harsh, it held the road and for a short while fun. The Tein system transformed it, night and day is understating it. I had Tein coilovers fitted to my track prepped RX7 they were great but like many that are adjustable it's a bit of a one trick pony, whereas the EDFC adjusts itself hundreds of times per minute and responds to how you drive. Like I said if they did one for the RCF when I was buying my car I'd have bought a pre AVS car and fitted the EDFC system straight away plus you have adjustable height something the RCF desperately needs.

RCF unsold in Belfast
B1RMA replied to V8ORBUST's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Didn't a forum member have a look at this and said it had accident damage that wasn't very well done and was obvious. -
I have found a Youtube video of them doing 'Beginning of the End' it just about captures the energy of the whole band, the whole pub rock era was one where in all honesty I couldn't fault the live playing of any of them and small hot venues suited the whole atmosphere. Ducks Deluxe where part of the Motors came from were one of the first and they were excellent too. I could blame bloody spellcheckers for my error Begging I ask you.
-
If it's any help I test drove a non AVS and an AVS car more or less back to back. I was prepared to pay the extra for AVS. Normal driving it's a lot smoother then adjusts itself as you get a move on, or you can just dial it in with Sports + that gives you and idea of how i personally found the ride in the non AVS car. Being a Lexus you don't have to worry about maintenance costs with such a complex system either. Everything changed regarding the ISF with the fact you could fit the Tein adaptive suspension system to the ISF, there is a member on here with it fitted. I can vouch for how good this system is as I have it on my Mini Clubvan, night and day goes some way to describing it. Many moons ago I nearly tried an ISF as it was a bit different, bit like RCF/GSF today, but was put off by the reports of overhard ride so now with Tein you have the best of both worlds. If the Tein system ever comes out for the RCF/GSF I will regret my decision to buy the more expensive model having AVS, but for the time being still glad I paid more for one with AVS

I was lucky enough to see them several times with Lee Brilleux (I expect I've misspelt his name)as the front man, first time I saw them on the opening number I thought this is a tight band, then suddenly the guitarist shot across the stage real wow factor that. Lee used to have his harmonica's in the pockets of his rather grubby cream suit. One other band at the time I really rated live was Eddy and the Hot Rods the live version of 'begging of the end' was tremendous, Nine Below Zero were also around at the time and again as with all the above they could play.
-
Couldn't agree more, we used to trek up to the Hope and Anchor to watch this lot and many more. These guys could play live.

Just seeing your registration reminded me I have the registration W12 AXE on retention if you ever wish to buy another plate.

Premium fuel cost/benefit for F cars

I always thought Ethanol was an octane booster and did not have the type of cleaning additives V-Power is supposed to have. -

Some of the earlier Japanese cars did not have the ability to adjust to the lower octane fuel hence my comment about the cars not running very well at all, but Optimax/V-Power was just the right octane which I believe was readily available in Japan at the time. Apart from the higher octane which benefits high performance/compression engines (something to do with being able to adjust advance/retard) You'll have to excuse my poor knowledge on this one, I did have it explained to me by the guy who re-mapped but i lost the will to live after 10 minutes. I've always been of the opinion that the cleaning additives in V-Power is what I paid the extra for. It's a personal choice decision I think, although my mind is now made up for buying Tesco Momentum from here in and enjoy saving 12p a litre, every little bit helps as they say. -

Yes like you I'm convinced it's a good fuel and have been buying V-power since it's release when it was called Optimax as my grey import Japanese cars just didn't run on regular 4 star very well. With the price gap locally for me of 12p a litre between Tesco Momentum and V-Power (not sure about BP as there is not one local) it is becoming more and more obvious that the saving has to take priority. I just needed to convince myself that the cleaning agents could be left out. Having said that I ran my diesel vans on three tanks of cheap supermarket diesel then one tank of V-Power diesel with one of them now on 130K miles and never a problem it seems to work. So I may just use Momentum in my RCF then every 10th fill buy V-Pwer seems a reasonable compromise. -

I seem to remember on the Savage-geese video on the RCF he mentioned that the carbon build-up wouldn't occur like on Audi's etc but it didn't go into much technical detail. As he is very knowledgable about cars I assumed he was correct, just need to have a bit more info, although a 12p a litre difference is swaying me more. -
Yesterday I went to fill the RCF up with fuel, popped into my local Shell garage and V-Power was £1.21 per litre, I thought that's a bit steep so I only put £10 worth in. Just down the road is a Tesco where they had 99 Momentum for £1.09 per litre so I filled it up there. I don't want to start the inevitable debate about the use of V-Power as from experience all of my grey import Japanese cars from way back when all ran like s**t on anything else, plus when my RX7 was set up on the rolling road it was done on the early version of V-Power called Optimax. I have also bought V-Power as much for it's cleaning additives as anything else. What made me think about this was, do the two combustion cycles the engine on the RCF does it mean that the engine is capable of cleaning itself from the type of build-up I previously bought V-Power to do? if so I can save a few bob from here on in. I know I'm being tight but to me it seems a bit OTT the price difference of 12p a litre.

2019 RCF 1/4 mile vs usual suspects
B1RMA replied to Bluethunder's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
There were some really good secondhand bargains to be had, like I say SLS's went down to £80-100K these cars were just a couple of years old too. I did try the NSX but bought a late Lotus V8 Esprit instead because it felt a lot faster. Inside the NSX reminded me of my girlfriend's later wife's Prelude inside. Plus I just didn't like the sound of the engine in the NSX having said that the Lotus had a flat plane crank so sounded a bit crap too. It was obviously a big mistake because the Lotus fell to bits and cost a fortune to keep up together whereas the NSX was made and built by fanatics not a load of blokes from Norfolk ing good.
