  1. I agree, in fact I bought a new CTEK MXS5 from Amazon as it was on offer at £65 does AGM batteries, very nice unit, I have two very old CTEK units so time for an upgrade. Also bought three comfort indicator kits and put them on my vehicles that way very easy to connect and you have a flashing indictor of your batteries charge.
  2. Boost XL GB50, did ponder getting a couple of the lower output units to stick in my vans as Halfords have them for £99 the GB 50 is a lot more powerful but still compact.
  3. Either way it will never happen again as I have the NOCO starter pack and I've wired the optional accessory connection pack to the battery in the RCF.
  4. So I'm guessing from that info the button must have a mechanical connection
  5. It surely must work because otherwise you would have to get the car lifted away from the petrol pump.
  6. It does say it has to be in accessory mode but does this work with a completely dead battery? Think I might disconnect the battery and try.
  7. That was the first thing I looked at as it was next to the shift lever, didn't have anything to open it though. Did try the key but too thick and didn't want to damage the plastic by forcing it. Unfortunately didn't get the chance to see if accessory mode changed the situation. I was surprised that the cigarette socket didn't send a current though.
  8. Just a heads up for any RCF or GSF owner. I don't use my car much as I may have said in the past (less than a 1000 miles between MOT's) Anyway last Saturday I took it out for a spin one to use it and second the old fuel remaining may have gone off. The car was a bit hesitant starting due to very low battery no doubt turned up at Sainsbury's to buy some Super Unleaded went to start it nothing at all dead as a door nail. What I hadn't realised was that with the car in park and no power I could not shift it into neutral to get the staff to push it out of the way as you are not allowed to jump start vehicles on a petrol forecourt. I had the genius idea of getting a spare battery connect it to the cigarette socket to get it live and put it in neutral so as to push the car out of the way but no it didn't allow me to do that no response at all. In the end I had to run a small lead through the door to connect under the bonnet to get it into neutral, then the staff pushed me to a safe place to jump start it. Was I being dumb not knowing how to shift the lever into neutral? If there isn't a way of doing it owners should know that at least at a petrol station you could be stuffed. I've since bought a NOCO X GB50 plus NOCO battery lead which is now fitted to the car should the same happen again.
  9. If it's any help my rear wheels are 20X10.5 ET 45 and there is space between inner tyre wall 285/30/20 of about 25mm+ to the rear shock absorber strut. Outside fills the arch gap nicely right to the edge.
  10. Indeed the Savagegeese video explains that, by all accounts Lexus USA requested this vehicle to be made for the American market. Not an F as you say, still rather have a GSF or an ISF with the Tein active coil-over kit on. I did try an ISF way back in time loved it except for the harsh ride and exhaust tips. If I were after a four door four seater.
  11. I'd much rather have a GSF if I needed a four door four seater. Far superior car in every respect. Savagegeese have done an excellent review on Youtube
  12. So why have Lexus decided not to bring it to the UK? Not enough sales perhaps.
  13. I would certainly pay the extra to have a valved system, the Quicksilver on mine makes a wonderful sound and my neighbours agree although they are not that close to me they tell me they can hear the eruption on start up. At motorway speeds you have to feather the throttle to get it to be reasonably quiet, which on a long trip breaks the boredom of keeping to the speed limit.
  14. I would strongly recommend you either buy another set of Lexus brand sensors or use the old ones. despite having good quality units fitted to mine they don't seem to like being 'paired' to the Lexus.
  15. Aren't you keen on that overall look?
  16. I didn't have a great deal of bother with mine. The first owner was a fanatic it was his baby and cared for it a lot. The second owner the guy I bought it off was a *nob who messed around with it in a bad way which was very common, I was on my way to get some Tein coil-overs fitted and get it corner weighted etc when I had an Audi right up my backside on the motorway. As the car had warmed up properly I decided to put my foot down, the Audi disappeared from my rear view mirror but I managed to blow the engine up. According to the rotary specialist in Portsmouth someone had turned up the boost pressure to max (it was programmable which was not a good idea for anyone who didn't know what they were doing) I hasten to add I did not adjust it but the previous owner obviously did. I kept with upgraded twin turbo's rather than a big single and enjoyed every track day I had with it. Enclosed is a photo of it and sorry for going off topic OP
  17. As you say, they have been used in drones for ages as they only have a few moving parts. I loved my RX7 it was turbine like in its power delivery and easy to tune but they did have a reputation for eating seals. When I was running my track prepped RX7 engine rebuilds were almost considered a normal part of ownership.
  18. I guess with a lot of manufacturers opting for the hot V design nowadays any issues that may have arisen have been sorted. At first I was a bit sceptical about the design but it looks like any ideas I had of heat gain problems I may have had have now disappeared and I guess with such a close design turbo lag has more or less been eliminated.
  19. I'm not a big fan of white but this appears to be pearlescent white which I think suits it. I've always thought the discs on the LC are too small for open 21 inch wheels so any design that covers that is good in my book.
  20. If I were to ever fancy buying an LC 500 this is what wheels and colour I would have.
  21. Although I'm a big fan of the AVS having tried two cars back to back one with one without, and I happily paid the extra for the later car with AVS. But I will say this, Tein make an active system for the ISF and I would hope that they make one available for the RCF and GSF in time. I'm sure the chap who has the system fitted on this forum to his ISF will confirm in the EDFC active system, I have the Pro version fitted to my modified Mini Clubvan and it totally transforms the car. In fact I'd hazard a guess at it being just as good as the Lexus system. It's not cheap but very good system indeed.
  22. As mentioned by F.A. 17 reg cars mostly had it fitted. Easy to check as dealers seem to list it incorrectly in most adverts. Just lift the bonnet or ask the dealer take a photo if there isn't one. At the top of the front struts there will be an electric cable running from it. If blank non AVS.
  23. Many years ago when I had a track prepped RX7 my car was always mapped by the engine rebuilders (an all too frequent event) on a rolling road. What I learnt from this was that certain rolling roads set ups 'flatter' the cars output and some don't, I believe the one they used a Dyno Dynamics rolling road didn't flatter the cars output but some on the market did give rather higher readings. So maybe these days they may be a bit more accurate than in the past.
  24. That would have been a very, vey expensive wrap as they've taken off the doors to do the shuts etc. Their prices scared me for a standard no shuts wrap so this was quite a job.
  25. Excellent find thanks, a bit of week-end reading there for me.
