  1. A very nice and neat job Steve. I’ve tried in the past to get my Nextbase cam snug up behind the mirror like that, but found the suction wasn’t as good on the black dots compared to clean glass.
  2. It’s a very funky party trick, and I’m probably sounding very old-fashioned, but I personally prefer the symmetry of two dials. Then again I always have brown sauce on the chips, whereas the wife says it just has to be red. Go figure!
  3. That’s great news. Now it’s all nice and quiet again you’ll be able to hear the creaking coming from the centre console ...... (actually, better forget I said that!!) 😉.
  4. Welcome Henrique. Fine looking IS especially with the black detailed mirrors.
  5. 😀 Maybe John, maybe. Although I think it might take more than a couple of wheel spacers for me to acquire any ‘street cred’ personally !!
  6. Was also going to raise spacers as a suggestion, but conscious of the worms in that can ! It’s strange in a way, as I ran spacers for years on my 5 series, as it seemed did almost every other member of the forum at the time. You could guarantee posts on the best sizes and set-ups on an almost daily basis. Notwithstanding the potential stresses on suspension linkages and geometry it seemed to be an accepted given, and must admit I personally never had any issues. Yet the IS has a huge gaping void in its arches (especially the 17s on my Exec) so I’m surprised the spacers query doesn’t appear more often. I even have a spare set of Eibach 20mms in the garage but have never put them on the IS. Perhaps the additional battery weight over the rear accentuates the stresses in a hybrid setup.
  7. I just fitted two new asymmetric 5s on the rear (R17/225). The improved grip compared to the Blu Earths they replaced is significant, as is the comfort. Sounds daft but I’m struggling to tell if they are quieter though. I usually have music on. But done the last 100 miles without music and got a feeling they may cause a very slight road noise, but could just be listening out for it now ! I’m pretty sure they’re also slightly dragging the mpg down, but the improved comfort is worth it for me.
  8. This morning I accidentally shut my boot lid with the keys still in the boot. The car immediately sounded a little alarm to advise me ! Nice little feature I never knew existed with this car (64 IS300h Exec). I’ll happily accept if anyone points out it’s all in the car manual, but I am man, and manual for girl !! 😜 Stay safe from the virus all.
  9. Wow, what a weird thing to find in the corner of your car. Maybe you should check the other side, could be a teapot down there !
  10. I know what you mean. I spend the vast majority of the time just leisurely cruising, as that’s how the car seems to be at its best. But ok, every now & then I can’t resist putting everything into Sport, cranking up the ASC and flipping the paddles whilst flooring it ..... the ‘speed’ is obviously nothing to write home about, but that (truly awful) artificial sound never fails to make me giggle out loud in the privacy of the car !!!! God only knows what they were thinking but it always makes me happy .... its guaranteed therapy after a tough week on the Friday commute home.
  11. Using Spotify through the usb cable rather than Bluetooth will also pull thru any track graphics as well as slightly improving the sound quality. The flip-side is that it’s slightly less convenient than Bluetooth, so I tend not to bother with it myself, but worth a try as a comparison Hope you’re enjoining the car!
  12. Hi Ken, on the keyless entry, a faraday bag works perfectly. Cheap & available on eBay or Amazon, and becomes second nature to just store keys in it. Using the buttons as you describe also works - my spare key is protected in that way.
  13. Thanks Barry, really useful pics. They look pretty solid, are they fairly stable around the bends when loaded with 1 or 2 bikes?
  14. Any chance you could post a picture up Barry? I’ve got Whispbars from my old 5 series but they don’t fit the IS and so am considering other options. Be good to know how stable they are, as I’ve always preferred roof-mounted for that reason.
  15. When I picked up my IS from Lexus Reading last year the sales guy made a real effort to programme all my favourite stations in the presets during the handover stage. At the time I thought it was almost overkill customer service, but looking back I’m glad he did, as its clearly not the most intuitive DAB system out there!
  16. Looks great Ace 👍 Interested to know how you find driving the IS compared to the other models you’ve driven.
  17. I don’t know myself but had a quick look on line and it folk seems to say it’s the 3rd down on the right, the Power Outlet fuse.
  18. Here’s mine from my 64 Exec if that helps.
  19. Mark, any chance you could attach a pic to show exactly where this is and how to access it please ? Thanks G.
  20. As above, Lexus Reading fitted an active damper for me under warranty when I raised this issue although it hasn’t fully cleared the vibrations. 55k on an Exec 64 plate. I’m just learning to live with it now, although once you’ve noticed this I find it hard to completely ignore! Reading didn’t apply the software flash though, perhaps that might make a difference? Good luck with your search anyway.
  21. I stopped a few rattles on the passenger side panel. Prised off panel and put some anti-rattle tape in. Not sure if you meant the door side or the centre console side, but sharing pics anyway in case they help. I’m really OCD about rattles, so feel your pain ! 🙂
  22. After cleaning out battery fan filter I’ve had over 60mpg in the 70 miles since last I last filled up. Mainly motorway commutes to work but some local roads too.
  23. I finally had a bit of time to look at this after your great write-up Jason. A nice bit of maintenance and easy to follow. I made sure I got that reassuring click you referenced when reconnecting the motor, and had a quick test drive to check no error messages before putting all the trim back 55k miles on a 64 plate Executive. My fan blades didn’t look too bad but the filter gauze was pretty dusted up. Some before & after pics below.
  24. Totally agree. You hope you’ll never have to use it but so grateful it’s there when you do. The tyres on my previous car had a knack of collecting stray screws in a local Wickes car park that I now avoid like the plague (unless I’m in the wife’s old crate !)
  25. Lower than in my previous car but doesn’t impede any road vision at all from the drivers seat. You can see in the pic how the dotted sun-shade film comes down quite low in the IS, which is great for reducing sun dazzle but isn’t a great surface for the dash cam mount, hence my positioning. I prefer central placement of the camera but it could be located higher on the passenger side.
