    Chris at Phoenix Engine Management can remap the GS ECU, and, I would assume, can do the IS ones too. If not, then RR Racing definitely can, as I've just put their map on my own IS250 (does make a difference). THey may be in the USA, but I had no issues. There was another Coy I was taking to who could do it in the UK too (can't remember their details, though).

    Does this map also get rid of the awful rev hang?

  2. Hi everyone

    Last time I spotted a LOC club member IRL whilst cruising in London it turned out to be @H3XME .

    So here I am trying my luck again... A couple of days ago I had the pleasure of driving next to an Lexus IS250 in Birmingham, near the Five Ways roundabout, towards Ladywell (just past the casino) (purple colour I think?)

    It sounded pretty amazing - at first I thought it was an ISF but when it drove past it defo sounded like forced induction. Beautiful tail lights on the back as well - never got to see the front cos I was too slow

    The best bit was the little 'race' we had at the traffic lights :yahoo:

    I think your plate number was R888 SWC? So quite possibly a fellow Asian bro with lucky digits like that :laugh:

    Would love to know more about your setup!

    I think they sent me the wrong harness, the bottom radio doesn't seem to have a connection to the Teyes headunit.. I'll have to ask their support, hoping for a reply, but they seem to be having staffing issues. Oh well, guess I'll just have to wait and see. Thanks for the help!

    Yup, sounds like you've got the wrong harness. You might have ordered the B model instead of A by mistake:

    As for the results. It's very noticable. There is a lot less body roll. A very well spent £80 I would say.

    I am really torn between the OEM GSF bushings (£80) and Hardrace hardened rubber bushings (£200). I'm itching for that BMW E90 level of steering feedback - I think it's the main thing missing from this car.

    Do you think the reason you found the change noticeable is because you were going from old, worn OEM bushings to brand new bushings? The US Lexus forums are full of people lauding the hardness of the FIGS and RR racing bushings and the improved feel. They say the only benefit you will get from the GSF ones is reduced inner tyre wear, but no impact on handling/feel.

    Whilst they're rubber not poly, I'm guessing the Hardrace ones will nonetheless be more similar to FIGS/RR than to OEM.

  5. The revs going up and down thing does sound very much like a vacuum leak issue. Check all the rubber hoses going into the engine for any holes or gaps. Could also be the brake booster as this is connected to the vacuum lines.

    As for the general sloppy performance of the engine - I've had the same issues as you over the last couple of years. I've been gradually replacing wear and tear parts and i'm still not back to peak performance but it has definitely helped:

    • spark plugs;
    • O2 sensors;
    • fuel pressure regulator;
    • MAF sensor;
    • Oil control valve (OCV) filters;
    • EVAP vacuum switch;
    • still planning on replacing the in-tank fuel pump and fuel filter as well as all vacuum lines

    Hope this is of some use

    This happened to me and I got a local garage that does welding to weld it for me a new rear part is a fortune to buy

    I second this - both sides of my original exhaust fell off and they were welded back by the local garage. Cost £30 each time. They were fine up until I sold the exhaust (upgraded to an aluminium one)

  7. Thanks to all for the advice above. Was finally able to get Techstream 18 installed and running (although this was not a straightforward process at all, with plenty of driver issues, and virus scares along the way)

    Running diagnostic check on all the ECUs:

    Lots of ECU faults! Some historical, some current:

    There's probably a way to clear the historical faults but I didn't have time to figure it out.

    The following two screens helped me to finally diagnose the issue:

    Points go to @IS300FSPORT - it turned out to be an issue with wheel speed sensor.

    However - there is an ironic backstory to this.

    A while back, I replaced the suspension strut rubber gaiters - and like a true novice, I forgot to unplug the ABS cable before disconnecting the upper control arm and... SNAP! There goes the ABS cable. I soldered it back together and sealed with electrical tape. Clearly this bodge job has come back to haunt me! 🤣🤣🤣

    This looks interesting.. I'd be up for that. Get it working and I'll pay you to wire it up on mine😁

    likewise - i am totally speechless.... This retrofit speedo cluster is yet another thing that was 'impossible' to crack and you've only gone and done it :notworthy:

    As for AFS - don't care about the swivel left and right, I just don't like the idea of my headlights not going up and down when I start the car or autolevelling if I have a fat friend in the back :D

    Might be possible to mod the 4IS design lights, since someone managed to do it on the 3IS VLAN design:

  9. I love the wheels - really goes with the 4IS design. Are they 19" ISF wheels?

    Did your old headlights have AFS? I know you are a perfectionist Ahmed so you wouldn't have done a bodged job by pulling the AFS fuse or taping over the dashboard AFS error light... :wink3:

    That's the only thing keeping me from upgrading to those HC motion lights - I can't figure out how I would make them work with autolevelling and my 2007 model doesn't have a manual headlight height adjuster.

  10. Hello Lexus crowd, hope you all had a merry Christmas :newyear:

    My car has a long list of to-dos that I sadly still haven't got round to fixing.

    Particularly annoying of late is an area of 'free play' that has developed in the first few cm of travel of the clutch pedal when you first depress it. It comes with a nice little squeak that makes your passengers think you have some kind of rodent infestation (at least it's consistent with the musty smelling A/C :yahoo:)

    Has anyone else here encountered this and were you able to fix it? I have never done any work on clutches, pedals or the like so I'm stumped. But my first guess would be it might be the clutch helper spring that has weakened over time? This would also explain why the pedal feels quite heavy.

    70 based on the Speedo so more like 66ish mph in reality! I have noticed when I put the speedo to 80mph (74mph on GPS) my economy does tank but I weigh up economy or time saved in those situations! Will hopefully get this baby to 200k with regular servicing 🤞🏼

    Regular oil changes and you'll see 400k no problem :whip:

    Don't forget the weather...

    A couple of weeks ago, my car was always thick with frost and took forever to warm up. The fuel economy suffered very noticeably as a result.

    This week, it's been back to about normal due to the milder temperatures.

    BTW, has everyone noticed how much the fuel prices have dropped recently?

    This is the cheapest I've seen. Almost pre-Ukraine invasion levels.

    Holy moly where was this? You sure it wasn't a misprice? And this is Esso not Asda or Morrisons!
