  1. As long as it's normal that's fine by me and the economy is certainly great for a big car with a V6 petrol engine. Thanks for the info 🙂 I shall make sure I give it the odd thrashing to clear away the carbon. 😈
  2. Couldn't hang around my old Saab was causing me new problems on a daily basis! Hope the Lexus reliability lives up to the reviews! From a large dealership in London, hassle free indeed, except the salesman and I thought the boot solenoid/motor had failed because we couldn't open the boot! We then discovered the switch in the glovebox - happy days! It's nice to have something different to the usual E-class, 5-series, A6 etc.
  3. Thanks Shahpor. Correct, Grey with the black interior. It's a GS250 Luxury. Has BSM which I think was an option? I'm not as well versed in the standard equipment as I should be! Other than that all the usual high level of equipment, reverse camera, heated/cooled seats, easy access, leather, climate, auto wipers, auto mirror, keyless entry etc. I need to go out at get some more pics, the light is terrible at the moment so will try and get some soon.
  4. So I only went and got one! Clean GS250 with just over 40k on the clock: Very pleased with the car. It actually blew me away a bit, it just feels so solid and comfy, it's more than I was expecting. The engine noise surprised me for a couple of reasons. It's slightly diesel-ish from cold, there is a slight tickyness to it. I see that the direct injectors can click a bit because they are such high pressure? Seems to be a lot of talk about it online. The second reason is when you put your foot down! I was not expecting such an awesome noise from a Lexus! I found Bluetooth easy to set up with my phone and the nav is easy to use also. The joystick (whatever it's called) is given bad reviews, but it doesn't seem too fiddly to me, slightly odd, but works well. The next service is looking quite expensive because Lexus tell me all the plugs need doing, but it's not every year at least!
  5. Is the Toyota 0W20 the same stuff? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Genuine-Litre-Toyota-Hybrid-Synthetic/dp/B00KMR11FO/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1540553031&sr=8-2&keywords=0w20
  6. I was going to use Lexus Gatwich for servicing, but they don't have the right car for me is stock.
  7. Well there seems to be 7-9 cars for sale on Autotrader at any one time within 200 miles. I'd rather not travel more than 100 though really. So choice is fairly limited, the white is ok, I like the grey and black and there is a dark blue one close by at the moment with a really low mileage. I like that tan leather, there is a white one in London with the tan that looks smart. Have to see what is available when I am ready to go hunting! Hopefully this week!
  8. Thanks for the info, I agree it's not cheap but not too bad either.
  9. Sorry to butt in, how much is it to extend the warranty?
  10. Hi I should soon be aquiring a 2012-2013 GS250 and I'll want to get some spare oil asap once I have it just incase. What make/grade of oil do Lexus put in these? Thanks Dave
  11. Nice car!
  12. If the car is on around 50k, what service will be due? Is it a belt driven engine, if so I guess that could be due around 60k? I wonder what the servicing prices at a Lexus dealer would be?
  13. Thanks for the info guys! Not bothered about the fuel/tax, I currently pay £500/yr tax anyway, so it'll be nice to have that down a bit. That's even better if the shocks issue was older cars 🙂
  14. Hi I'm considering a GS250 around a 2012-13 plate. I know it'll be fairly thirsty but I work at home and only do around 4-5k per year so don't really need a hybrid or diesel. I know I need to check the shocks as they can leak and are expensive and the exhaust, anything else? Thanks in advance Dave
  15. Hi I am looking to replace my woefully unreliable Saab with a Toyota Avensis or Lexus IS 250. My head is telling me to go for the Avensis, my dad had a Carina II then an original Avensis both were so well made and reliable, but with modern cars, I'm not sure that is still the case. My heart is saying Lexus, rear wheel drive, more power etc. Lexus wise, I'm looking at around 59 - 61 registered cars with automatic box, around 50k miles. Are there any particular things to check on these cars, or is it general things to check? Can you get parts cheaper than from Lexus dealers themselves? The parts cost is the only thing scaring me really. Is there somewhere online I can see what servicing needs doing at what age/mileage? Thanks! Dave
