  1. Radio, CD, Android Auto, cassette - they're all inputs to the one amplifier, so only one input can be used at any given time. However, within Android Auto itself you can use something like VLC player to play locally stored music.
  2. Depends when you checked them. It should be done before the car moves off because rolling tyres cause expansion of the air inside due to friction heat, so you only get a true reading when the tyres are cold. This is why I can never understand petrol stations having air lines.
  3. Just looked and all I can say is that the board will not let me say what I want to say! Those prices are just ludicrous Believe it or not, my last trip to Poland - and by that I mean the entire trip, consisting of return transfers from Preston to Manchester Airport, return transfers in Krakow, return flights, three nights accommodation in a 4* hotel (breakfast included but other meals out) and all spending money (meals, drinks etc) - came to less than the cost of one night in a "delightful sea view room" at that hotel.
  4. Hey you lot, don't go thinking you're something special because a dinner jacket still fits after 5 years or so. My school tie still fits, 48 years after leaving!
  5. Aha, right. Do the interior lights come on as you approach the car? If not, I can only suggest that the key fob isn't transmitting, or the car isn't receiving the signals. If they do come on and the under-mirror lights are the only ones that don't, I have no idea why that would be.
  6. It won't be. However, if you want to check, just pull the fuses and make the LPG system inoperative so that the car has no choice but to run on the petrol system only. To be honest, the car thinks it's running on petrol anyway; it neither knows nor cares that the signals from the car ECU to the petrol injectors are being intercepted and diverted to the gas ECU and gas injectors.
  7. This whole thing seems like a non-problem anyway, or at least one of the OP's own making. In the very first line at the top of the page he mentions two words, i.e. "main dealer". Absolutely everyone knows that main dealers are expensive (they're not nicknamed main stealers for nothing) but it would appear that the OP didn't know that. Last time I looked I think it was in the region of about £135 + VAT/hour, maybe even more. I strongly believe in 'horses for courses' and would go to an aircon specialist to deal with aircon problems; an auto electrician to deal with electrical problems; a mechanic to deal with engine problems and so on, including a tyre specialist to deal with tyres/alignment issues - all of which would, without doubt, charge considerably less than a main Lexus dealer.
  8. That's how they work. They aren't even visible until you open the door anyway
  9. Why would you even think of going to a main dealer for an aircon problem on a 10 year old car? Plenty of good independent aircon specialists, mechanics, auto electricians and so on out there who will do a great job for less than half the price a dealer will charge.
  10. Your profile isn't clear as to which car you've got but, assuming it's a hybrid, just make sure that they know what they're doing. The refrigerant gas is the same but the lubricating oil that circulates around the system with it is different to conventional cars, which use PAG oil. Hybrids use ND11 which is known as a high dielectric oil, which means that it doesn't conduct electricity. PAG oil does conduct electricity and it's been shown that as little as 1% contamination of ND11 by PAG can damage the windings of the aircon compressor motor due to insulation breakdown.
  11. You're a brave man. I wouldn't trust Halfords to install a teabag into a cup! It's an easy enough DIY job or if you don't feel confident DIY-ing then an auto electrician or car hifi/entertainment installer will do it.
  12. Take care Piers, hope it all goes well for you.
  13. Get two cans (or 1 x 10l jerry can) and drive until it's empty or until you've done enough miles to show that there's plenty in there - say, 100 miles.
  14. I wouldn't think so. The worst thing for the engine is that the oil takes time to get everywhere, but the Lexus system uses MG1 to spin the engine at 1,000rpm (thereby allowing the oil to circulate properly) before applying fuel and a spark to fire it.
  15. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are quite restrictive in which apps you can use. Anything like YouTube or Netflix, for instance, can't be used because it's illegal for the driver to see content like that when the car is in motion and instead of 'trusting' people to make the correct decision, AA and ACP take that decision out of your hands and 'nanny' you into complying.
  16. The usual places for fuse boxes are the engine bay and either or both of the front footwells, which can be seen by lying on your back with your head looking up towards the dash. Is it under warranty at Lexus? If not, go to a proper auto-electrician, who will have it sorted in no time for you.
  17. You're only playing at it. I drove 150 miles on the day I got mine, plus I did something like a 20 mile round trip that night to go for a pint of milk because, like you, I wanted to see everything lit up. How can you possibly contain yourself so much?
  18. Only on certain variants. My 2018 Luxury doesn't have them and at about £400 each side, it never will
  19. That is the least secret secret I know! It's under a flap of carpet under the rear passenger seat and is called the Service Plug Grip.
  20. Ooh, now you've done it. You've no doubt awakened the wrath of @royoftherovers As he will most likely say, "If you read the manual there are no secrets."
  21. Only thing is, the scrotes are already in your pride and joy before this comes into play, so they may damage something just in frustration and spite. Prevention is better than cure, which is why I use a big yellow steering lock (Stoplock Pro Elite).
