  1. I'm going for mine on Tuesday I don't know why yours was so painful Barry but everyone else I've spoken to said that it's fine as long as you go for the sedation, which I am, so I'm convincing myself that you're an outlier on the scale
  2. That shouldn't matter as it'll still be the same voltage, just the size that's different. The numbers are the sizes, so a 2032 is 20mm diameter and 3.2mm high, which makes the 1632 16mm diameter and 3.2mm high. If you only have a 1632 you can use some cardboard or paper to pack the space left by the smaller diameter.
  3. So sorry to hear that Mike, I wish you well.
  4. I'd probably take a punt on it if I was in the market for it, but only you can make the decision for yourself.
  5. Fantastic news Piers, excellent.
  6. As Arthur Daley used to say, "Oh my good gawd!" Please lets not go through all this again. When you buy an RX you buy it because of the comfort, the luxury and the reliability; you don't buy it because it gets great mpg. You've had an RX300 and you were horrified with the fuel consumption and that was before petrol prices sky-rocketed and the cost of living crisis hit. This one will be a lot better than that but it'll still only be in the low 30s (even dropping below 30 in winter) and there are other Lexus cars that are far better on fuel, so if that's a concern then you may be better looking at something like the IS300h, for example.
  7. I know that's what they're aiming for but it's completely unrealistic. Apart from infrastructure and generation ,problems we aren't the only country in the world who are aspiring to get rid of fossil fuelled cars in this accelerated timescale so we'll all be competing for the same materials at the same time. We just won't be able to get the stuff like Lithium out of the ground fast enough.
  8. First check that you have a 12V supply to the ballast/unit - that won't cost you any money and it could be down to a broken wire or bad connector somewhere. If you have got voltage to the ballast then yes, it looks like that's faulty. Make sure to turn off the lights and leave for a few minutes to drain any residual charge. It takes about 20-25,000V to strike the arc and about 80V to sustain it.
  9. Yes, the Grom Vline2 is just one of them. Below is my (poor) attempt at a review
  10. Glad to hear that all's well Vlad, hope it stays that way.
  11. No, it's not. You obviously don't like it and no one will sway you from that but it's not rubbish. What could be easier than: Me: Hey Google <Google Assistant enters listening mode> Me: Open Waze <Waze opens> Me: Navigate to (Postcode) Waze: OK, lets go. I could give lots of other examples of where Google Assistant is anything but rubbish and makes life much easier, but as I said above, you carry on being a Luddite if you like.
  12. Oh the irony - you do know, don't you, that Apple's 'Siri' does exactly the same thing as Google Assistant? Take off your tinfoil hat, ignore the conspiracy theories and come out of the cave and into the 21st Century. As has already been said, this is the price we have to pay for 'free' software such as Google Maps or Waze etc., etc. Similarly, the true cost of Internet access would be hundreds of pounds per month if it wasn't for advertising and data mining. It's sad, but a fact nonetheless, that it is us people who are the commodity and the buying and selling of our data is what makes all this possible. You're in the system now mate and it's too late to do anything about it so sit back and enjoy the ride. The only way out of the system is to never be in it in the first place. As soon as your birth was registered you were in the system. Still, if you want to cut your nose off to spite your face, go right ahead. Me - I'm sticking with Google Assistant and all the great things it can do.
  13. Brilliant, glad to hear it John.
  14. Get the kids big coats and tell 'em to walk to school like I used to, in all weathers. When I was a kid my bedroom used to have ice on the inside, let alone the outside, and no such thing as being taken to school in a pre-heated car. Far too much mollycoddling these days
  15. You live in the West Midlands, not Alaska Switch the heated seats on as soon as you get in so that you're getting heat straight away, then within five minutes the heater will be pumping out hot air.
  16. That would completely and utterly defeat the whole purpose of a manual lock, so I'm sure that cannot be right.
  17. Hmm..... I've never known an earth strap to go to the fuse box, there's just no need for it.
  18. I think it does take 90 degrees - but you do it at your own risk in case I'm wrong 🙂
  19. It should, but the problem is that it hardly ever gets used so it needs a good deal of force to turn the key. Some people have even resorted to using a pair of pliers to get extra leverage and/or squirt a bit of release oil in.
  20. Could well be. I just saw it on these forums somewhere and kept it for when the question inevitably crops up again
  21. It doesn't work like that. Without a 12V supply there's no access to the hybrid system and traction battery. It's just the 12V battery recovering enough to provide enough power to start the hybrid system. Like Steve, I'd say the most pressing thing is to get the car recovered and get yourself home safe and sound. Tomorrow, either read the OBD codes yourself and let us know what they are, or get it to a garage or dealer to be dealt with.
  22. You don't need to do anything with the lights and here's a letter from Lexus to prove it: Lexus advice re headlights in France - anonymised for distribution (French & English).26-7-2014.pdf
  23. Doh! Peter just beat me to it while I was still typing
  24. Are you sure it's a light? It may be the shift lock cap. Normally the gear shift won't move if the car is off, but if a situation arises where you do need to move it, you press the shift lock button and it allows the lever to be moved. It usually has a cap on the shift lock button, so it may be this you're looking at.
