  1. Just use your phone and the What3Words app with Waze. What 3 Words is accurate down to a parking space size - so accurate that the front door of your house has a different 3 Word address to your back door. Once you've found the 3 Word address, just 'share' it to Waze and off you go as normal. It's brilliant.
  2. Yes, that's correct, the big one is at 60k/6-years. According to my service plan that's £225 and £569 respectively.
  3. No idea, but why not just buy one of these anyway or maybe this one and you'll never have to worry about it again. They work brilliantly and are well worth the money for peace of mind alone.
  4. You've already said that the tyres aren't up to much so just get new ones on as your first step then take it from there if you need to - although I'll bet it'll be sorted by tyres.
  5. I'm with him on that. When we had our RX300 we had Avon ZX7s all round and they were excellent. We now have the RX450h and I've gone for Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen2 all round and they are truly superb.
  6. Here's a video I just found on Youtube - there's plenty more of them as well if this one isn't particularly useful (I've not watched it yet 😊 )
  7. Something to do with the regenerative side of things. I don't know exactly what as I've never had to do it yet, but I do recall reading on here that you do need Techstream.
  8. Now that's interesting because I'd heard one or two (not 'bad' but we'll say 'dodgy') reports about Lexus Bolton and my own personal experience of them was that they didn't reply to any of the four email queries I made before actually buying a Lexus. As you would imagine I was not best pleased. So much so, in fact, that we bought our car from Lexus Teeside (just because that's where it happened to be) but also went on to take out the extended warranty and service plan with Teeside too - and we live in Preston! Lexus Preston is supposed to be opening later this month so I'll see what sort of reports it gets in the coming months and maybe look at transferring there if it's warranted.
  9. I don't smoke anyway but I'll never understand people wanting to smoke in such a small enclosed space, not to mention devaluing the investment. I once went to buy a Ford Granada 2.8i Ghia X and as soon as I opened the door I was hit by such a horrible smell that I just said I didn't need to look any further and walked away from what initially looked to be a superb motor.
  10. I'd say you'll probably need Techstream to evaluate it properly but have you noticed what the state of charge of the traction battery was when it occurred? I'm thinking that regenerative braking came on as normal but if the traction battery was fully charged and nowhere to put the electricity being generated, there would have been a change from regenerative to hydraulic braking so maybe you felt the changeover? Just a guess.
  11. I think it'll be the 50k or 5-year service. Our 63-plate RX450h Advance had 33k miles on when we bought it and has just had it's 50k/5-year done at Lexus Teeside, even though it has just under 42k on the clock now.
  12. If you see one that you like anywhere in the country, you can ask them to do a video walk-round of it for you. Of course, if you like the look of it you'll still want to test drive it and then you just have to be prepared to travel. We drove over 200 miles for our RX300 and about 120 miles when we traded that in for our current RX450h. We went from Preston to Lexus Teeside for the 450h and the sales guy I spoke to must have known that we were hooked from the off. I said that if it drove as well as it looked, we'd be wanting to come up in the 300 and do the deal there and then, leaving in the 450h and that's exactly what we did.
  13. I may be wrong but I don't think it is now, not since GDPR came into force.
  14. In a nutshell, no, they aren't. The GDPR refers to personal data and a car is not a person. As long as they don't give you the previous owner's name and address they can still give you the car's history. However, in this day and age of 'covering one's a#s#' you'll have a hard time finding anyone willing to stick their neck out.
  15. I respectfully draw your attention to one of my previous replies - the last reply on Page 1 of this topic. You still seem to be expecting your car to act like a 'normal' car in respect of its battery but it won't, it's a hybrid, and as such the electrical and battery system is far from 'normal'.
  16. The one by the gear lever is the shift lock. Normally you'll need to have the engine running to get the lever out of P but if you want to move the lever without firing up the engine (to dismantle something or to put the car in N so you can push it a few inches to get the bins past, for example), press that shift lock button first. The Hold button is probably 'Hill Hold' braking, so that you don't roll back when waiting on inclines.
  17. @Lex Loofa Hi Paul, just sent you a message. Here's a couple of photos of my old RX300 LPG installation. We no longer have the car as we traded her in for our current RX450h but I miss the LPG fuel savings. It's technically possible to convert a hybrid but I'm not brave enough to have it done. The hybrid is such a complex car so I don't see the point of adding another layer of complexity to it. Anyway, the old RX300 had an 85-litre toroidal tank in the spare wheel well and a central fill point so that it was easy to fill from both sides. The installer didn't go for a 'kit of parts' but instead chose each component as being the best for the car. It's been a couple of years since we had it converted so I can't remember exactly but I think he chose Magic Jet injectors with a KME Nevo gas ECU and I can't recall the brand of reducer he used, but together, what a brilliant system it made. 1. The FlashLube bottle 2. The gas ECU 3. The gas reducer/vapouriser.
  18. Just about to go out but I'll contact you later about the manual and also the fact that our RX300 was LPG too, although not Tartarini.
  19. The belt, tensioner/idler, water pump, 10L of Toyota Super Long Life Pink coolant and labour came to about £460 inc. VAT on my RX300 at my local trusted indy garage. Be aware though, if you take it to a Lexus dealer then they only do the belt - they don't do the idlers/tensioners or water pump unless specifically asked for and at extra cost.
  20. Most likely alternator belt squeal. Given that your LPG components make it difficult to access, if it were me I'd just go straight for a new belt instead of an inspection and thinking that it may just need retensioning. Your text says it's an 04-plate (series 2) but your details say it's an 01-plate (series 1) - this may help but it's for series 2 cars so just be aware:
  21. No problem Ian, glad to help if I can. It's possible to replace cell blocks as and when necessary rather than a whole battery at once, but I suppose there will come a time when age just takes its toll.
  22. 1. According to this, it's a belt: 2. None of the 400h variants have air suspension. 3. No idea.
  23. I have auto-locking on my late 2013 RX450h but I believe the facility was removed in 2014 because of safety fears - something to do with not being able to unlock the doors in the event of a crash.
  24. If it's always been serviced at Lexus there'll be a record of it online through the My Lexus website or app. If not, then I think you'd better err on the side of caution as it's too big a risk to take otherwise. You should also have the water pump changed at the same time whether it needs it or not. This is because the pump lives in the same area as the belt so to do it at the same time may add about £40 or £50 to the bill. Do it at a different time and you'll be paying about £300 or more for the pump alone, because 90% of the work done to get at the belt will need to be done again to get at the pump. I think I paid about £460 if I remember correctly and that was for the belt, idler/tensioner, water pump, 10L of Toyota Super Long Life Pink coolant and labour at my local indy guy, so if it happens to be my old one (GY05 HVK) then it's all done for you
