As I've said before, trackers only come into play once the scrotes are already inside your pride and joy. Prevention is better than cure, so whilst not pretty, I use a Stoplock Pro Elite in the hope that they will take one look and decide that it's not worth the hassle and move on to an easier target. The one I use took five minutes to defeat in reviews and that was using hammers, chisels and saws.

Battery bad luck

It's very rare for that to happen in the UK in my experience. Here, if something has a three-year warranty and fails after two, it is replaced with a brand new item but that is only given the remaining one year of warranty - it doesn't start a new three-year period. EDIT - the following paragraph is taken from http://www.wheresmyrefund.co.uk/faulty-goods-replaced-do-i-get-new-warranty.html -

Went direct Shahpor, just out of curiosity, but I'm 61, no points or convictions and I live in a decent postcode area so I really don't fit their target demographic at all. And I know that the new business fee is only £10 (and like you, if I was getting a significantly lower premium I'd pay it) but it's the principle of the thing. Their whole reason for being is to serve customers; without customers they would be out of a job so you'd think they'd be happy with that. I repair computers for a living and charge my customers for the job I'm doing, but I don't stick an extra tenner on because they chose to come to me.

That baby-puke colour is one of the most hideous colours I've ever seen on a car!

Just tried Hedgehog out of curiosity and their quote came in at £630 but my renewal with existing company is £570. Not only that but Hedgehog are including in the quote a sum of £10 "New business fee"!!! So I'm giving them my custom and they charge me £10 for the privilege - I think not!!!! EDIT - maybe this is why they come out more expensive for me because I don't fit their criteria:

There are plenty of other batteries out there (because you do know that Toyota/Lexus don't make batteries don't you?) with five year warranties. Have a look for Yuasa, Varta etc. Check the charging circuit as well, it's possible that something wrong with the alternator could be killing the battery prematurely. You should get somewhere in the region of 13.5 to 14.4V at the battery with the alternator spinning. The chart below is 'standing' battery voltage. -
For what Flashlube costs it just isn't worth the risk - have it done. As to the filler point, no, it doesn't comply with the UK regs but I've seen loads of cars that have them like that, so how they are getting round it I don't know. May be worth talking to a couple of installers to get their thoughts on that.

Peter's right. Automotive lighting is a very complex science. The flutes and prisms on the lens aren't there to make it look pretty but so that the beam angle, refractions, reflections and everything else work in a certain way so as to give the driver maximum visibility without dazzling oncoming drivers. Put the wrong bulb in the wrong unit and the beam pattern will be affected - maybe to such a degree that you cause an accident.
-
Don't do it. It's an MOT failure if the bulb doesn't match the housing. In other words, if the housing unit is designed for a halogen bulb then nothing other than a halogen bulb will pass the MOT. This is taken from the MOT Inspection Manual here https://www.mot-testing.service.gov.uk/documents/manuals/class3457/
-
If you go to https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/ and put in your reg number it will show you the MOT history and also if there are any outstanding recalls. If this issue shows up I'd print it out or take a screen shot to show the dealer. If the above doesn't produce any results then you should perhaps contact the Citizens Advice Bureau or Trading Standards for help.

I had an RX300 albeit without air suspension, but I've read enough posts on here about the air suspension system to know that repairs to it are astronomical in costs, so much so that some people such as the guy in the thread below strip it all out and go to coils instead - and it's a lot cheaper than repairing the air system.

Welcome to the club Paul. Let's have some photos of your new beastie when you can - we always like to see photos! 😊 Regarding the dashcam, have a look at this review below. The guy has reviewed dozens of other cams (and lots of other tech too) and this is the one that he settled on for his own car:

Wow, you've either got a VERY heavy right foot or there's something wrong there - even the petrol RX300s aren't that heavy on fuel -

Well the original problem was that the power steering pump had a leak and was dropping fluid all over the alternator and he was going to send it to that great scrapyard in the sky. However, the eBay description says that it "drives faultless no issues" so he must have fixed it but doesn't want to keep it anymore. -

Well being as you've seen it, what about a link so that the rest of us can. After all, we can't search eBay with the search string 'Johns car' can we? -

Brilliant Lee, cheers -
I think it's as Les said above - the alarm needs to be deactivated before the tailgate is opened.

Don't know about 2019 NXs but that's the way my 2013 RX works. If I long-press the tailgate button with the doors locked nothing happens, got to unlock the car first.
