  1. Not everyone with a luxury car has a luxury bank balance to go with it. We got our RX for medical reasons after I suffered a serious back injury and the RX is the most comfortable car for me, but running it is not easy.
  2. In order to pass the Spanish equivalent of the MOT someone on here needed to change their headlights, so I'm assuming France will be no different when the OP hears back from Lexus France.
  3. They do indeed John, I think it's called Lexus Essential Care. I'll look into that next time, cheers.
  4. There's no denying that the Lexus warranty is absolutely excellent value. If I remember correctly, labour rates are about £130 - £150 per hour and the warranty covers it. You've just got to treat it like an insurance policy. These cars are so reliable that hopefully you'll never have to make a claim, so some people may see it as £995 wasted. However, on the other hand, if one of my LED headlights dies the individual LED 'bulb' can't be changed as they're a sealed unit costing over £800 to replace so you've almost got your money's-worth in that one claim alone. The only thing that irks me, as I said above, is the requirement for dealer servicing. If we could get rid of that clause then taking a warranty would really make sense.
  5. Ah right. It should still download but you won't be able to use it on your phone, just a Windows computer.
  6. Sorry, but to me they look like exactly what they are - bolted on bits
  7. @Mylexrx Mike, did you get my last message, sent on the 18th? Did it work, or if not, what's actually happening when you click on the link? Can you press the 'Prt Scrn' button to do a screenshot and let me see?
  8. The RX450h is a whole order of magnitude more complex than an Avensis though so I reckon £995 for two years warranty is a good buy. The thing that I really get annoyed at is the requirement that to qualify for a warranty you must also have it serviced at a Lexus dealer - I'm used to paying mates rates for servicing!
  9. I think ours was about £580 back in February. That's with business cover for both of us, courtesy car, max. NCB (protected) for both of us etc., etc. The only thing I didn't take is legal cover as we have that through my union. Policy is with Ageas if I remember right, through A-Plan brokers.
  10. How can it be rectified other than installing a battery with higher capacity? Various systems still draw power so the battery will still go flat if the car isn't used very often. I can't remember the exact figures but my 2013 RX450h has a battery capacity of fifty-something Ah, whereas my 2005 RX300 had a battery of almost 80Ah.
  11. Wow, I like the look of it but not at that price! Am I right in thinking that it doesn't actually perform any function and is just purely a decorative bit of plastic? Probably cost all of about a fiver to make.
  12. But would they? A friend of mine suffered the exact same fate - except that it was serviced at the Ford main dealer and they forgot about the TSB.
  13. I always think questions like this are a bit derogatory to many excellent mechanics and garages out there. It's a hybrid, so yes, that side of it probably does need a specialist or the standalone Lexus Hybrid Health Check for £60. However, the rest of the car is just that - a car - and any trusted and/or recommended garage/mechanic will be able to do the work, no need to take it to a Lexus specialist. If you happen to have a specialist nearby then fair enough, but don't overlook other places that have good reputations just because they don't specialise in any given brand.
  14. Yes, it looks good Darius, I like it. I think it's most likely that you didn't get any replies to your first question because no one knows the answer 🙂
  15. Excellent, great result Alan - you certainly won't be disappointed! In fact, the only disappointing thing about this whole topic is that it's only going to be driven about 2,000 miles a year! EDIT: Actually, in all seriousness, that means that the car is going to be sat around for long periods of time, which hybrids don't particularly like. A standard car has a big and beefy 12V battery because it has to supply at least 300A to the starter motor while it cranks the engine, if not more. Hybrids don't have starter motors and all the 12V battery does is to power the entry/exit systems and the computers to bring the car to the READY state, which, as you can see below, only takes 15.32A rather than 300A plus. This means that Lexus can save a bit of money by putting in a smaller capacity 12V battery, which in turn means that it goes flat sooner than others if not used on a regular basis. It's not very common but also not unheard of either, for someone to get back to the airport car park after a two-week holiday to a flat battery and a non-starting car. Given that, I always carry one of these in the glovebox for such eventualities. I've never had to use it on my own car yet being as it's our only car and used daily, but I've helped a couple of other motorists out and can say that these little units work brilliantly. Alternatively (or even as well as - certainly no harm in having both) you could go for one of these solar trickle chargers to help keep the battery topped up in the first place.
  16. Woohoo!!! Glad you got it sorted Jon, well done!
  17. Oh dear, that's not good. May be a bit drastic to talk of selling though 😧 AFS is actually Adaptive Front Lighting System and as well as controlling the height and levelling of the headlights, it's what also makes them move left or right as you steer in those directions. I'm only clutching at straws here but are the lights doing their little 'dance' when you switch them on and do they actually move in the direction of steer as they should? I'm just thinking that there may be some correlation between the lights and the pump, ie, if the lights don't move with the steering as they should, maybe the ECU prevents the pump from operating? Other than that I can only suggest a trip to a proper auto electrician to see if they can sort it out.
  18. Very nice-looking car - that's an unusual colour for an RX and it looks great! To be honest I haven't got a clue as to whether that price is good, bad or spot on. All I can say is that Lexus Approved Used Cars from Lexus dealers also come with a full 12-month Lexus Warranty (including breakdown cover from the AA) so what would Boss give you? Given that, I notice that Lexus Reading have a 62 plate (29.09.12) Premier in with 77k on the clock (must only be recent because the listing is "awaiting images" but you can ask them to email a video walkround to you) for £19,500. Would that be better value - I don't know? https://usedcars.lexus.co.uk/en/used-lexus/Lexus/RX-450h/35-Premier-pbb3tq9
  19. Yes, absolute rubbish. Ours is on 19-inchers and it's the best, most comfortable ride we've had.
  20. Ours is a 63 plate (November 2013) Advance. Had 33.5k on the clock when we bought it in February last year and we paid just under £25k for it. Certainly didn't look rough inside then and still doesn't now at 47k.
  21. Very nice, love that colour!
  22. If the sensors are working then it would seem that the signal isn't getting back to the ECU. I'd check all wiring for continuity because it sounds like there's a broken wire somewhere.
  23. So what does that matter? Presumably you'll be able to prove where you were when said criminal activity took place so no problem. Plus, how many hundreds of people see your reg plate every day as you drive around - any one of those could make a note of it and use it if they were so inclined.
Spróbuj znaleźć dobry garaż i poproś o sprawdzenie
  25. I got mine for medical reasons after a back injury. Normal saloons are almost impossible to get into/out of and no other SUV came close to being as comfortable, so it had to be the RX. However, I'm not rich and running the thing is darn near killing me. Not everyone who has a luxury car also has a luxury bank balance to go with it.
