I have never had, or been a passenger in, an LS430 so maybe that makes a difference, but I have been a passenger in a few RXs with air and I don't think it makes any difference at all - certainly not enough difference to make the extra complexity and cost in repairs, worthwhile.

Sorry Andrew, I have no idea what they're like as (thankfully) I've never needed to buy one but they must be alright or the guy wouldn't have any customers. From other posts on here I think the cost of buying and fitting was somewhere around £350 to £400 so no point involving the insurance. It can't be a difficult job as it's basically only a device that fits to a pipe at either end.

As FA says above. Lexus make great cars but their Achilles Heel is the infotainment and navigation systems.

I've not got a series 4 but are you sure it's in the dashboard? I thought the light sensor was on the dash but alarm sensor is usually up in the courtesy light housing with a button to deactivate it.

Sorry, no idea, but you're far better off using either a stand-alone unit like a TomTom or perhaps Waze or Google Maps on your phone. The Lexus nav is very clunky, counter-intuitive, slow, can't do full postcodes and the DVD won't allow you to input your own POIs.

You have to be methodical and logical when doing any diagnostics work, let alone such a proliferation of problems, so lets start at the beginning. 1. What were you working on and/or trying to do when you damaged the loom? 2. Do you have a laptop, miniVCI cable and Techstream? 3. If the answer to No. 2 is no, do you at least have some form of OBD2 code reader? 4. Do you have electrical test gear such as a multimeter and clamp ammeter? If you don't have No.2 (preferably) or No.3, you just aren't going to get anywhere. If you don't have a multimeter at the very least, you just aren't going to get anywhere. Wow, I didn't expect an answer like that Keith, that is indeed a catastrophic failure. I agree with everything Mark said above - it does sound like the battery or jump leads have been connected the wrong way round or water damage somewhere. Please don't take offence at this, I'm really not being nasty about it, but it's clear from the way you're just buying and changing things randomly, like the aircon module for instance, you haven't got the skills to tackle a job like this - that way lies an empty bank account and a bald head after pulling your hair out in frustration. If you really want to carry on with it yourself then starting with Techstream like Mark suggested is a good idea, but I really would strongly suggest that you hand it over to a properly-qualified auto electrician. Not a mechanic or somewhere like Halfords, but a proper auto electrician.

Very nice Barry but how/where does the TT fix to the bracket and the bracket fix to the car? I'm assuming the TT sits on the plate but not sure how the whole thing sticks to the dash?

Well, with the greatest of respect Keith, just stabbing in the dark and assuming things is not a good way of fixing problems. Which fuse or module was it that you changed and what circuit(s) does it protect? It may be the immobiliser but it may not. Do you have a spark at the plugs? Do you have fuel to the injectors? Is the gear selector in P or N as it should be to start the engine? Even if it is, it could be a fault with the starter inhibitor switch that prevents the engine from starting if anything other than P or N is selected. When you say "I have a number of electrical faults on my car", what exactly do you mean? Start at the beginning and tell us what you've done and why, and maybe we'll have a better chance of helping you mate.

Just do like most other people do and change to traditional suspension. For not much more than the £600 - £700 replacement cost of one air shock, you can have a whole set and once done, they're done, whereas there could well be more ongoing costs if you stick with air.

But that's only a side light isn't it? The OP is talking about dipped beam headlights - and you cannot install LEDs in a headlight housing meant for halogen bulbs anyway or it's an instant MOT failure.

Yes it is. Any car that is meant to have cats and doesn't is a major defect, ie, a fail. However, hybrid cars are exempt from emissions testing so, as a cat's only job is to deal with emissions, would it pass or not? I suspect that the missing cat will prevail and the car will fail but I don't know for sure.

The guy using 3 litres over 600 miles is the original poster from nine years ago. @nuggs77 it's going to be either the pressure switch going faulty or the oil pump failing to produce enough pressure.

There's an oil pressure switch rather than a 'sensor':

It doesn't matter how old or how much mileage. They don't wear out because the catalyst isn't affected by the reaction. Does it look noticeably different from the original? What I'm getting at is, if anyone tries to nick it will they immediately be able to tell that it's not worth having and consequently leave it alone, or will they still cut it out and then be disappointed later whilst leaving you to be out of pocket again?

The Lexus satnav is clunky, outdated and counter-intuitive - far better to use Google Maps or Waze on your phone, or even a stand-alone satnav such as a TomTom. If I remember rightly your satnav is even DVD-based so you can't add in your own Points Of Interest or speed camera database, which makes it about as useless as a chocolate teapot. And believe it or not, the Lexus nav in my late 2013 RX450h isn't much better either. I mount my phone using a CD-slot mount and it works brilliantly - it really is far better than the factory system in every way.

You may have to tell the insurance as it's a modification but no inspection is necessary as far as I know and it certainly won't invalidate the insurance - unless you maybe forget to tell them of the modification. Dozens of people have done this because the air suspension is eye-wateringly expensive to fix when it goes wrong.
