There's also a misconception that hybrids will have 'better' precious metals due to the engine not running as much as a traditional car, but I really don't see that. It's more than 45 years since I did chemistry at school but I do remember that a catalyst speeds up a reaction but is not itself changed by said reaction, so whether from a brand new car or a 20-year old one, or whether from a hybrid or not, the precious metals should be the same.

You would really, REALLY be better off using a TomTom or something like Waze on your phone. Lexus nav systems are rubbish (my 2005 RX300 was and my 2013 RX450h still is) at the best of times, being very clunky and counter-intuitive. And because yours is DVD-based you can't even add in your own POIs.

It's a hybrid so the petrol engine doesn't run all the time. It's a hybrid so the petrol engine and the hybrid system have been finely tuned to work together as one coherent, superb, technological marvel, so enjoy it for what it is and don't mess with it.

I don't know for sure without testing, but as I repair computers for a living I would be suspecting that the hard drive is failing.

As with almost any fluid the lubricant will expand as it gets hot so there's usually a small vent hole or pipe to allow for this. I know there is one on the RX300 so I'm assuming this car will be the same and water got in by this route.

Definitely a situation where a jump start battery pack like this one would have saved a call to Lexus. These units really are superb little things!

Xenons don't actually reduce light output with age but the colour rating does change, which may have the same effect. If they are, say, 6000k when installed, three or four years later they'll be down to about 4000k or possibly even less.

I doubt that you'll get them at Halfords, or if you do they'll cost a lot more. I got mine from https://www.auto-lighting.co.uk/ These are the cabin ones: and they can be found here. The bulbs in the luggage area are the festoon type as you can see below: and it looks like they don't do that exact one anymore. I think the original filament bulbs are about 29mm long but the smallest LED festoon I could get was 31mm, which means you have to modify the spring contact a bit. The only 31mm LED festoon they seem to do now is this one, which may be as bright, I'm not sure. No resistors are needed as the CANBUS system doesn't monitor internal lights. I switched over to these LEDs within a month of buying the car, which means that they are now 20 months old and still as bright as they were.

Yep, all my internal lights are LEDs now after I swapped them all out and they are much brighter than the OEM ones. The photo below was taken at night on my phone camera - without flash. I'll take some more from different angles tonight showing the load area and back seats if you like, but it's a very worthwhile thing to do.

And that's why the MOT changed with regards to these modifications - you may have had no problems but I'll bet you've dazzled other drivers.

Use a multimeter on the Ohms scale and put the probes across the two terminals to measure the resistance, which will be a very close approximation of the impedance.
