  1. It'll work anywhere but with A roads you have to be careful on bends because there'll be a point where the car in front moves out of the radar as it goes around the bend. Your car, however, will see that the obstruction has disappeared and the radar reads it as a clear road and can speed up.
  2. Just to add to what Charles said above, it's my impression that radar cruise works more on distance than speed, or perhaps they're equally important. Say you're going through a stretch of roadworks with a 50mph limit on the motorway. You enter the roadworks, set the speed at 50mph and away you go. If the vehicle in front of you is only doing 40mph you'll soon catch it up, but radar cruise will slow your car down to maintain a certain distance between you and the one in front. If the car in front speeds up, so will yours. Or if you pull out from behind the one doing 40, your car will then speed up to whatever you've set, ie, 50 in our example.
  3. That's a feature of radar cruise. Switch to standard cruise and they're 1mph increments.
  4. Glad you got it sorted in the end Conor and thanks for letting us know what it was.
  5. I've already got a Stoplock Pro Elite and I intend to get a Pandora Storm alarm/immobiliser or alarm/tracker.
  6. Just had my plate fitted today. They wanted the car for most of the day because they've never fitted one before so I got a UX250h loan car from them. When I went to pick up my RX they said it was a tricky job and had taken two and a half hours, even though the book time was one hour. I suppose they'll get faster at the job the more they do. Anyway, irrespective of time taken they booked it as a warranty job at no cost to me. I did ask about the ES, LC and others but they didn't know anything I'm afraid. So, job done, complete with a wash and hoover out - let's just hope it works alright if it's ever needed.
  7. You can buy them from less than a tenner up to hundreds of pounds, so go and get one because you can't do much electrical troubleshooting without one.
  8. Lexus Preston are superb.
  9. The wiring harnesses are all different so no idea to be honest, but I can't see that it would cause any permanent damage if you tried it at your own risk. I can't be held responsible if something bad does happen
  10. Only vaguely - I think it was the left one but wouldn't stake my life on it because it's been a while.
  11. Some of you may remember that earlier on in this topic I posted that the reply I received from Lexus UK about these protection plates was that the vast majority of thefts were taking place in London and the south and so they were being prioritised, which did make me feel frustrated but I just let it slide and thought "typical". However, as more and more people on here are posting to say that their cars are booked in for fitting, I'm left wondering why myself and others in the frozen Northern wilderness are putting up with this, so on Friday I sent another email to Claire at Lexus UK and asked why are our cars up here considered to be less important than those in London and the South. Surprise surprise, I had a call this afternoon from Lexus Preston and I'm now booked in for fitting of the plates one week from today I'll be the first person to have them fitted at Lexus Preston so they've asked for the car to be left with them all day while they figure out what goes where etc., and they'll be providing a courtesy car for me. No mention was made as to whether it will cost me anything or not but I'll be taking along a copy of that Facebook reply I posted and if they do try to charge me £200 I'll be saying, "No, sorry. Look at this". I'll keep you posted with how I get on.
  12. +1 for the Viofo A129 Pro, great little cameras. However, please watch this for some info you may not be aware of regarding most cameras:
  13. Only a guess but I very much doubt it. Gracenote is a database of songs/albums/artistes that allows the track name, album it comes from and album cover art to be displayed onscreen when it's playing. Given that, I don't see how it could affect any other aspect of the car's electronics.
  14. Yeah, I've even contributed to some of them myself but I just thought it worth copying that Facebook post because it categorically states that they are fitting them free of charge.
  15. Quite simply, they can do what they want and don't have to justify themselves. In reality, some companies will insure certain risks whilst others won't. Some insure 'hot hatches' but some don't. Some will cover drink drivers when they get their licence back but others won't. I'll never forget a mate of mine being caught over the drink-drive limit and his insurance premium after his ban actually went down, because he found a company who insure such risks.
  16. Poland, Czechia and Slovakia. Some absolutely beautiful places up and down the countries and the people are so warm and friendly.
  17. All they need to do is to run the camera wire down the opposite side to the DAB antenna wire. If they won't/can't do that then put a ferrite bead on the camera wire.
  18. I would think that the HV battery should be alright for longer than four months. The 12V battery boots the computers to start the hybrid system and there's a safety interlock consisting of two 12V relays. If the 12V battery doesn't have enough power to operate the interlock, the hybrid system is prevented from starting, which means that there's no load for the HV battery to supply, and so the only drain on it will be its own self-discharge rate. I may be wrong so if anyone knows better please correct me, but that's how I read it.
  19. Why not just leave as is and just ignore them? If you want to sell the car later on you may have a bit of hassle if they're missing.
  20. More than one person on here has had the pump pack up due to seized or broken bearings so may be worth stripping it down once you've got it out.
  21. This one on eBay will do exsctly what you want.
