  1. Quality has many individual components to make a whole. Build, finish, efficiency are some of those components. MPG may be just as important to body design to some. IN YOUR OPINION Mr Linas the UX has too much plastic. I disagree. Maybe the base level does, I wouldn't know as I haven't seen one but my version has nice stitched material that seems like leather. Whether it's 'real' leather I am not too fussy about as I don't eat meat and would be a hypocrite to say otherwise. Overall it's nice and soft, looks good and doesn't hang onto dust as some surfaces do. When I sit in MY UX it does give me a feel of 'quality'. It was built in Japan as opposed to the C-HR that was built in Turkey. Maybe that fact alone makes it 'feel' better but who knows? Some Turkish Airguns and Shotguns are excellent (one of which I own) so please all note that I am not denigrating Turkish Workers etc. If, even though your profiles states that you don't have a Lexus currently, you actually have a 2006 GS, well good for you, especially in keeping a car going for that long but I personally loathe saloons and would never even look at one let alone own one. They're just not for me. This is of course my PERSONAL OPINION. So, all-in-all I think we are stating that unless you have proof that the plastic content of all UX is more than the plastic content of any other vehicle you wish to compare then you should just accept that this is your own perception and not necessarily fact. You may be right, you may be wrong. Final word about 'Plastic'. It's recently been voted the 4th best invention of all time. I think it should be at number one as without it we'd still be in the dark ages. It is the most valuable material known and if aliens ever do raid Earth it won't be Gold or even Water they'll be after! Lock-up your pop bottles I say!
  2. But being objectionable and offensive doesn't make you right. Others have an opinion that may differ and you may legitimately say that you disagree but why be so rude about it? They may be right and you wrong - who knows? There is only one person that's always right and I married her so I know it's not you!
  3. One inch makes a huge difference Hugh!
  4. ... in your opinion.
  5. ... In your opinion.
  6. I found this very amusing. They all do it! Why re-event the wheel?
  7. Isn't the NX the same chassis as the new RAV4? That's what I was told by a Toyota dealer.
  8. I have occasionally lost the will to live when reading your tirades that's true but humour me and give me the quick answer please.
  9. Get your facts right Linas old chap. I didn't make the last comment. What do you currently drive? Your profile says 'none'!
  10. I understand the principle that if one absolutely loves something than anything is a 'step-down' but having moved from the NX to the UX, albeit via a misguided period in a C-HR (not that there's anything's wrong with the Toyota, just didn't suit me), but I genuinely do not feel that the UX is a 'small car'. It feels good to drive and when parked next to most other cars they look comparable. This may be clever design but unless you drive with four people in the car regularly then the UX is roomy enough. I admit that the luggage space could be better designed to give more usable volume but load carrying isn't a regular thing for me these days. Even the flimsy luggage cover does it's job very well. Mine is a Premium Sport Edition and I think it looks rather swish inside but my granddaughter does slide around a bit on the leather/pleather/vinyl stuff!
  11. You clearly fail to accept that anyone can have an 'OPINION' that is different to your own and I will be wasting my time and others if I attempt to respond to your scurrilous comments. Maybe an admin can tell me how you managed to get to 8k comments and still be able to post - if the flavour of your recent remarks is anything to go by.
  12. Blimey! Cage rattled? Feeling Victimised? Raw nerve requiring a coating of Vaseline? Choose one that works for you. I deliberately kept my points 'general' and did not mention anyone in particular. I also stated "in my opinion" and "I find" as my comments are just that, mine, and they do not invalidate your own theories and ideas even though you phrase them in a far more verbose manner than I. That's the nature of a 'Forum' I believe. I would prefer if you did not personalise issues and attack individuals please. By doing so we only bring these discussions down to gutter level and put-off people who would like to contribute but fear to do so in-case they receive a broadside! I hate to rouse the anger of admins etc. and we should play nicely. As a parting comment I have driven many 'quality' cars but came into the Lexus family quite late in my driving life. I recently purchased a brand new C-HR, owned it for 5 months, lost 5k to change it for the UX that is now on the driveway and I can say with certainty that the Lexus is streets ahead of the C-HR even though that had the now current UX infotainment system, self parking, high MPG and more bells and whistles than I could ever need. Interior was good but just did not come up to the Lexus standard. You may have another opinion on that matter of course and good luck to you.
  13. I stand to be corrected but Wireless Android Auto is not and will not be built into any Toyota/Lexus sold in Europe. Toyota Customer Services informed me of this a few months ago. My Dongle works flawlessly and I never use the in-built nav now.
  14. I find the UX a bit of a paradox. Technically it's 'small-ish' car rather than a small car. In fact as cars have generally increased in size over the years, then comparing the UX to cars of old it actually feels quite large. Some people on here have made denigrating comments, accidental or not, regarding the build and finish of the UX but in reality they are put together better than most comparable sized cars I find, as you would expect for the premium price charged by the dealers. One thing I have noted and this may be a good reference as to Lexus quality is that quite a few commenters drive very old, or 'ancient', (in my opinion), vehicles and will have no idea of the technical advances made in the 10, 15 or 20 years they have been driving their old Lexus. Maybe these people would be better trying a newer car before denouncing them as 'plasticy' - or whatever they call them. All-in-all I am happy with the UX, yes it's not as roomy as the NX I owned but it feels good to drive, never feels cramped, looks good outside and in and returns 40% more mpg than the NX did so why would I compalin?
  15. Nfera ru1 225/50 r19. I just went with the recommendation from the Lexus dealer. I had Nexen on my NX and never had any issues. Looking them up on good old Google they appear to be more Summer than Winter tyres. Thank goodness for Global Warming!
  16. Apologies but I can't find the previous thread to continue the noisy run flat saga but after a couple of false dawns I have now had the Bridgestones removed and had the Nexens fitted as recommended by Lexus Leicester. So far it's all good. Most of my motoring is 'tootling' these days, short runs for school, shops etc. So mostly on crap surface dressed roads. These are awfully noisy when car has runflats I assure you but much better with the ordinary type I now have. Of course I realise that with only the can of juice to reinflate a flat I may come a cropper but that's what the RAC membership is there for!
  17. All this Imperative Climate stuff and it's "the same wife (more or less)" part that has me intrigued!
  18. It would be nice to know where the errors are occurring. Dealer or factory? I recall when it was said that every Lexus had a named team leader and that they could trace every step of production. I guess if that did ever exist then it doesn't now. Quality control everywhere has gone AWOL since covid it would appear.
  19. My UX connects as soon as I pull onto the drive but for why I know not. I thought it was for software updates etc.
  20. I briefly owned a Toyota CHR from new last year and the salesman told me it was wireless AA. Obviously it wasn't and I took this up with Toyota UK who stated that they will 'Most probably never support wireless AA'. Like many others I purchased a dongle for my UX. It as performed faultlessly and has the benefit of not cooking the phone battery - constantly. I bought this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0BRQ3RWFX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and now it's even cheaper than I paid and I thought it was a bargain then!
  21. If the NX seats are as good as they used to be then there will be no issue Gary. Only equaled by Volvo seats of old in my opinion. Interesting route for me to consider for the drive back from Cornwall next time. I do enjoy a nice 50mph through motorway roadworks though, as mentioned!
  22. I like the '+' version. More information available (see image) but whether any of these apps are really useful I can't say. Handy when they tell that a door is open but that isn't a consistent feature.
  23. Were you on the M5 between 11:00 and 15:00 Bezzer? We were probably on the Northbound in the other queue! I must say that I really enjoy a 50mph restriction, it always seems so civilised after the madness of the 70+ dash! Good luck with the holiday and I hope that your other half doesn't struggle too much with her back. It can be a misery that may not be improved by hotel beds I fear.
  24. I've just driven 317 miles to Cornwall for the first time in my UX. Downward journey I shared driving and had no issues but homeward trip was all me as my wife picked-up a Cornish cough and I didn't fancy the lovely M5 queues with all that coughing over my dash! Sadly my lower lumbar area is really painful today and I think it is down to the lack of lumbar support in this car. This is the first car I have owned (for many years) without a support in the chair. I will attempt to buy some kind of cushion should I drive that far again but to be honest I may not do so. Other than the chair the car was faultless. The Radar Cruise makes traffic queues a breeze and temperature comfort is easy to achieve. Averaged around 55mpg. Having the front tyres changed this week in the hope of reducing the tyre noise from the run flats so that should make things even better.
  25. On the bright side you will enjoy not seeing the dirty marks that are almost inevitable with the paler linings, mine had the technicians palm print after they replaced an alarm sensor. My UX has a black liner and I think it gives a cozy feel to the interior. I'm surprised the dealer hasn't offered any consolations. Free first service would have been my starting point.
