Considering a used NX300h, pls advise
Lmafudd replied to Kohkae's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
I recently sold my 2016 NX. I had it for 6 years and it was a delight from day 1. Only issue I had was with door locks. Three failed on the doors and the boot jammed shut for two days. I kept the car for twice as long as I normally do so that speaks volumes. I was disappointed with the trade-in price (as usual). It had 42k miles on it and the best I could get was £17,000. -
Petrol into a Diesel powered car....
Lmafudd replied to superatticman's topic in Lexus Owners Club Lounge
I agree with that Colin. Over 20 years ago I put petrol in wife's Peugeot 206 diesel. I realised immediately and pulled over to the forecourt and called the AA. I thought the engineer would pump it out but he just showed me how to prime the fuel pump by hand and said to put some diesel in at every opportunity as I drove the 100 miles home. Car ran lovely. Next day I popped around to my friend and he sucked out the contents of the diesel tank with an enema syringe! Had the car for another 5 years and had no issues. -
How come this looks identical to 'Sonic Titanium'? Maybe cameras can't deal with the subtle difference!

It's soft indeed, we left the house this morning and a low flying cow had 'dropped' on my wife's 21 plate Yaris. I should have made the time and cleaned it there and then but sadly I didn't. There are now 4 or 5, 5cm areas that look like blisters on the paintwork. Not Auto-Glym or Mer can polish those away - I've tried!

I like the black lining in my UX, especially after the lovely techs fitted a new sensor in my previous Nx and left an impressive black hand print on the white lining! I paid for a paint protection system this time and think I wasted my money. Modern paints are very soft. Stone chips are prevalent on mine and any brush with a bush rewards one with stripes that never fully polish out. I've reverted to Auto-glym resin. Superb stuff! Look at those lovely rain bubbles!

I did realise that one could 'stop' them by turning the power button off but it's a bit phaffy! This is not a major issue and does not spoil my enjoyment of the UX in any way, not like the extremely noisy Bridgestone tyres do!

Today I will be moaning about the fact that my UX is the first car, that I have owned, where one cannot leave the wipers off the windscreen when cleaning! The bonnet prevents them from levering up and away! Used to be one of the first things I did when car cleaning.

Apologies if I repeat anything from an earlier post but I just cannot read all those here as I have a life! I have just 'retired' - technically a year early according to our Government but actually I feel it should be far less than 66! I spent the entire 49.5 years of my working life (yes, I left school at 15) in the Printing Industry. I saw it completely transformed from a highly-skilled, creative and high paying industry into a button-pushing low skilled trade with pay just about as low as it could go. People say that AI and computers will make our lives better and in some way I am sure it will but unfortunately I do not believe that the 'average' person will ever realise what they have lost to gain so little.

It's been years since I had brakes replaced and maybe they do it differently these days but the first car I owned with brake wear sensors interfered with the radio when they wore down to the point of contact but just before the lamp illuminated. Perhaps you should check the pad thicknesses etc. Just an idea.

Lexus Coventry and Toyota Coventry share the same workshop etc. Says it all.

Hard plastic on door - scratches
Lmafudd replied to BonzoSPB's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
I've found Meguiar's Black Plastic Restorer to be very good at hiding those annoying marks. Works will on the black wheel-arch trim and bumpers too. Wipe it on and leave it to dry (a few seconds). Don't over rub/polish or it can look patchy. It can't fill-in deep scratches but sometimes I fill those with a Sharpie them rub over with the restorer before the final wipe. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Meguiars-G15812EU-Ultimate-Plastic-Restorer/dp/B0044090GC/ref=asc_df_B0044090GC/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=310513207083&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=5112178398864442049&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9046185&hvtargid=pla-451446778028&psc=1&th=1&psc=1 -
What I did with my Lexus today..... Took it to the dealer I bought it from to analyse an annoying squeak. Only happens when coming off a reasonable journey then slowing down to a crawl. Not consistent and not predictable so I expected the usual 'Sorry but we can't replicate' line, which of course I received! No Coffee, machine was out-of-service, no biscuit and although I asked their agent to let service know that I didn't want my car washing, they do this first (why?) but is was washed and polished the night before! Anyway, at home and after watching 'Dash Cam Cops' or such like I remembered that I had followed a lorry spewing grain/dust/sand all over the road and thought I would download the file from my own dash cam. Sadly the vid wasn't that interesting but the one of my car being Dirven by a Lewis Hamilton wanabe at speeds three times over the speed limit (20mph zone near work units) was very interesting indeed. I also like the part where he slams the brakes on and comes to a stop and says "I can't hear F**k all" - needless to say I know where my next service will definitely not be going!
-
Interesting but I've never experienced this on the other 4 hybrids I've owned and I the squeal stops when the brakes are pressed hard (probably because the car stops almost instantly). It's going to the dealer on June 7th so we will see. Thanks for answering.

I'm certain it's the run-flats. I have the same moan. The UX is generally a very quiet car but when one hits the 'surface dressed' areas the rumbling thunder is horrendous. I've decided to try Goodyear Eagles. Most people that have commented have said that they improved their noise issues.

Thanks for answering Colin. Only had the car for a short while and I am an extremely light braker but I'll give the vigorous braking a go. I haven't had any brake shoes/pads replaced in the last 20 odd years (5 or 6 vehicles) so I suppose that indicates how gentle my braking is. My last Lexus still had over 50% pads at 43000 miles!
-
Has anyone experienced a sound similar to a brake squeal but with no pressure on the pedal? I suspect it's regenerative braking that causes it but it's infrequent and I can't pin it down exactly. It's very loud and usually occurs when the car has been on a reasonable run.

Didn't your Lexus app show where it is? Or have they managed to beat that too?

Cancel and buy BMW / Audi
Lmafudd replied to Scotlex's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Apologies if this is covered but there's a lot to read here. If you agree a purchase and agree a trade-in price for your old car is that value guaranteed? My Old NX appeared ro drop from 21k to just under 18k in the last twelve months I owned it and I am interested to know who bears the burden? -
Controversial maybe but what's the point of a review if anyone can be bribed to change it for the better?

UX Anti-scuff door plates.
Lmafudd replied to Lmafudd's topic in Lexus UX250h / UX300h / UX300e Club
Eco solvent print onto spot-on Vinyl. The dotty adhesive allows the air to pass through so no bubbles. They may be better wrapped further over the edge. Trial and error! If anyone wants the PDF I am happy to supply. Most high street copier places print Vinyl these days. -
