For the UX there are two different size displays, one which is 7 inches and one which is 10 inches wide. My UX has the smaller display, so i never had the additional info on mileage and range. Your UX must have the larger display, to also show that info. You must try to adjust the settings in the preferences menu, if it doesn't work go back to the service and ask them.

My UX has only four options for home screen but this does include current mileage and distance to empty. It has three areas on the screen and I have nav in the large one and audio and range etc. In the last. If you click on any one it takes over the whole screen temporarily. This is useful when using nav but to be honest since I bought an Android Dongle I've never used the built in nav. I like being able to ask Google to "find me a route to" .....

Very good Neil. It's made me properly chuckle, that...!

I do have one very minor ‘buzz’ sound which you can only hear at certain revs - which is coming from somewhere behind the centre of the dashboard - either behind the centre vents or the screen but it’s something I’ve just lived with. Fortunately, that’s about the only 'non-standard' sound it makes.

I can be a little picky who can be passengers in my car. I’m known at work as someone who likes a spotless car. I remember giving someone a lift home once and she knocked her shoes together as she got into the car and then when she got out, make an audible gasp and picked up a couple of stray stones which had found their way onto the passenger floor mat before wishing me a good evening and leaving!

I drove away thinking "Crikey, I'm not that bad, am I?!😳😄

Is this rattle centred behind the steering wheel? Perhaps to do with the sun shade thingy over the instrument dials? Mine's driving me batty!

30/40 mph, bumpy roads = maximum annoyance!

  3. I think this is my favourite feature. I use it constantly and I know people frown on that so I expect the comments but it helps prevent the 'lead foot' and keep one within the speed limit imho. I wouldn't try it if it was just the dumb old type but the Radar version is ace.

In my UX - Press the Radar/Cruise on button. When at the desired speed press 'set'. The actual speed you are moving becomes the set speed. The 'Res' button is used to resume the previous setting if you have braked. Braking deactivates the cruise mode.

When cruise is active the 'Res' button increases the set speed upwards and the 'set' button decreases the speed. My current car only works in 5mph steps - the only negative of the system I think.

Lane control can be switched on or off with the button to the left of the 'Res' button. I find mine a little jumpy but sensitivity can be adjusted.

Modern diesels are much more sensitive to having petrol in them than they were 20+ years ago.

I agree with that Colin. Over 20 years ago I put petrol in wife's Peugeot 206 diesel. I realised immediately and pulled over to the forecourt and called the AA. I thought the engineer would pump it out but he just showed me how to prime the fuel pump by hand and said to put some diesel in at every opportunity as I drove the 100 miles home. Car ran lovely. Next day I popped around to my friend and he sucked out the contents of the diesel tank with an enema syringe! Had the car for another 5 years and had no issues.

  5. It's soft indeed, we left the house this morning and a low flying cow had 'dropped' on my wife's 21 plate Yaris. I should have made the time and cleaned it there and then but sadly I didn't. There are now 4 or 5, 5cm areas that look like blisters on the paintwork. Not Auto-Glym or Mer can polish those away - I've tried!

  6. I like the black lining in my UX, especially after the lovely techs fitted a new sensor in my previous Nx and left an impressive black hand print on the white lining!

I paid for a paint protection system this time and think I wasted my money. Modern paints are very soft. Stone chips are prevalent on mine and any brush with a bush rewards one with stripes that never fully polish out.

I've reverted to Auto-glym resin. Superb stuff! Look at those lovely rain bubbles!

If it’s the same as my RX you hold the wiper stalk in the ‘up’ (single sweep) position while turning off the power button. The wipers then park vertically so you can lift them for cleaning the screen.

I did realise that one could 'stop' them by turning the power button off but it's a bit phaffy! This is not a major issue and does not spoil my enjoyment of the UX in any way, not like the extremely noisy Bridgestone tyres do!

  8. Apologies if I repeat anything from an earlier post but I just cannot read all those here as I have a life!

I have just 'retired' - technically a year early according to our Government but actually I feel it should be far less than 66! I spent the entire 49.5 years of my working life (yes, I left school at 15) in the Printing Industry. I saw it completely transformed from a highly-skilled, creative and high paying industry into a button-pushing low skilled trade with pay just about as low as it could go. People say that AI and computers will make our lives better and in some way I am sure it will but unfortunately I do not believe that the 'average' person will ever realise what they have lost to gain so little.

  9. I've found Meguiar's Black Plastic Restorer to be very good at hiding those annoying marks. Works will on the black wheel-arch trim and bumpers too.

Wipe it on and leave it to dry (a few seconds). Don't over rub/polish or it can look patchy.

It can't fill-in deep scratches but sometimes I fill those with a Sharpie them rub over with the restorer before the final wipe.

  10. What I did with my Lexus today..... Took it to the dealer I bought it from to analyse an annoying squeak. Only happens when coming off a reasonable journey then slowing down to a crawl. Not consistent and not predictable so I expected the usual 'Sorry but we can't replicate' line, which of course I received!

No Coffee, machine was out-of-service, no biscuit and although I asked their agent to let service know that I didn't want my car washing, they do this first (why?) but is was washed and polished the night before!

Anyway, at home and after watching 'Dash Cam Cops' or such like I remembered that I had followed a lorry spewing grain/dust/sand all over the road and thought I would download the file from my own dash cam. Sadly the vid wasn't that interesting but the one of my car being Dirven by a Lewis Hamilton wanabe at speeds three times over the speed limit (20mph zone near work units) was very interesting indeed. I also like the part where he slams the brakes on and comes to a stop and says "I can't hear F**k all" - needless to say I know where my next service will definitely not be going!

What did I do with my lexus today, took a huge gamble. Dropped my LS430 off at Lexus Edinburgh, all very efficient and polite. Courtesy coffee given. Went through list of work for approval and mot test. Got a video walk around of my LS430 and faults. Lexus discovered a leaking core plug 😬. Other bad news is condenser on air-con has no cooling fins but still in working order no leaks, steering rack gaiter torn (out of stock so lexus is getting me one from a motor factor 🙄), near side wheel bearing has excessive play (never felt or heard it), brake pipe corrosion, high level brake light bulb out. Now comes the biggy bushes are worn in rear trailing arms. Lexus do not replace bushes only complete arms. Pair fitted is £2500 but not avaliable until July at earliest. MOT is booked in for Friday. Lexus has decided with my agreement carry on with MOT Test and see if a get an advisory on trailing arm bushes. Now in hindsight I should of booked MOT first then decided what to do with my LS430. Knew it would need some repairs when I bought it so was prepared to sink a few thousand into it. A few thousand has turned into a lot of thousands. If my LS430 fails MOT I will have to see if they will let me drive it away, so I can get it sorted at home. If not it's going to fun trying to get to work for Saturday night. One way of looking at this is I could of paid a few thousand for an LS430 and still been in same boat. Repairs will be up to lexus quality standard. Comments good bad and ugly most welcome, blunt comments greatly appreciated as I prefer a straight answer to straight question with no faffing about. A spade is spade 🙂

Am I right in thinking the car is 19 years old?
