  1. I'd advise using this. Meguiar's black plastic restorer. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Meguiars-G15812EU-Ultimate-Plastic-Restorer/dp/B0044090GC Works like a charm. Don't over polish it. Wipe it on and just leave it. Comes up like new!
  2. The A30 to ancient languages in a few easy steps, where else would you get this in a car forum!😁
  3. ...and what did the Romans ever do for us?
  4. Maybe right. Fosse Way, Watling Street, Athirtyum. Sounds possible to me!
  5. Today I'll mainly be moaning about the A30 through Cornwall. We've been visiting the South West for over forty years and I cannot recall a time when the A30 wasn't being 'improved'. Anyone know when the widening scheme started? Second moan, the M5. Northbound yesterday was solid for over 10 miles! I'm really looking forward to the journey back! On the good side, the Radar Cruise is fantastic for queues and the MPG averaged 55 so I'm very happy with that.
  6. Okay, wee bit of a faux pas at my local dealer and they ordered more Bridgestone instead of the Hancooks as requested and discussed. They now suggest that I actually change to a non run-flat tyre with a can of 'Puncture Juice' if I want optimum comfort and quietness. I am subsequently cogitating!
  7. Hi Justin. It can be quite a lively forum and a very useful resource. I've discovered many and various things from reading these messages giving me information I didn't even know that I needed! I hope that moving from SA hasn't been too much of a shock. Our weather is so much hotter here you know!
  8. I have moaned on here before that the UX is particularly tyre noisy. I am having Hancooks fitted tomorrow to see if I can improve this tiring (joke) situation! I will report back tomorrow.
  9. Actually we're more likely to be severely reduced by a proper virus and not just a beefed-up common cold like Covid. There are just too many humans on this planet and as there doesn't appear to be a handy planet for us to jump to then our over crowding will have a disastrous effect on everything. Its nature's way. Nature doesn't really care of course as whatever develops after us will just be another step in the day to day life of the universe.
  10. I spent several hundred pounds having some sort of fancy coating on my current car and it is pants! They said wash the car, dry off and go. That's fine if you want a crap looking dull finish that shows every branch scratch, trolley scuff and fly remnant. I'm back to my old ways. Hose down, wash with warm water and car shampoo, hose off, leather and dry. Finally a good coat of Auto Glym resin polish and she looks great. Sometimes she can look this good for even more than an hour!
  11. That could help me prove my theory Steppy. I'll give it a go.
  12. Update on the 'squeak/squeal'. Dealer could find no issues and generally I haven't heard the noise - much' until yesterday. I drove through our village and heads were turning as the squeal was loud and persistent. Today none at all! When it occurred yesterday I did not have to touch the brake pedal and the noise was evident although never under acceleration. I am thinking it's the regenerative system that's at fault. It's booked in with our local Lexus garage on Friday when I will ask them to investigate, again.
  13. When I say 'to' I clearly mean 'two'. Apologies, getting sloppy since retirement.
  14. I've bitten the bullet and at 14k I'm changing the Bridgestone tyres to Hancooks. Recommended as the quietest I can get by Lexus Leicester. Still lots of tread on the Turanza's but they rumble. They put me off Michelin's a little as they appear to have a short life. Anyone need to partially worn Turanza's shout up? Being fitted on September 8th in Leicester.
  15. I've just read the 'old lady' comment. 58! That's not old I assure you, relatively or not.
  16. I have it! Click on the ECO area when on the home screen. This will take you to a full ECO screen. Change the display there to 'Trip info'. Press the home button on the main centre console panel and then you should have trip data displayed. Works on mine anyway!
  17. My UX has only four options for home screen but this does include current mileage and distance to empty. It has three areas on the screen and I have nav in the large one and audio and range etc. In the last. If you click on any one it takes over the whole screen temporarily. This is useful when using nav but to be honest since I bought an Android Dongle I've never used the built in nav. I like being able to ask Google to "find me a route to" .....
  18. I've had mine six months and the average is showing as 49.9mpg. Not bad as sometimes one just cannot resist a swift acceleration!
  19. Yes it works as you described Colin, although I can't think of any occasion where a static cruise would be used instead of the Radar Cruise! Good to know it works though!
  20. Is this rattle centred behind the steering wheel? Perhaps to do with the sun shade thingy over the instrument dials? Mine's driving me batty! 30/40 mph, bumpy roads = maximum annoyance!
  21. Thanks Colin. I'll give it a try.
  22. I don't think that option exists in my UX.
  23. I think this is my favourite feature. I use it constantly and I know people frown on that so I expect the comments but it helps prevent the 'lead foot' and keep one within the speed limit imho. I wouldn't try it if it was just the dumb old type but the Radar version is ace. In my UX - Press the Radar/Cruise on button. When at the desired speed press 'set'. The actual speed you are moving becomes the set speed. The 'Res' button is used to resume the previous setting if you have braked. Braking deactivates the cruise mode. When cruise is active the 'Res' button increases the set speed upwards and the 'set' button decreases the speed. My current car only works in 5mph steps - the only negative of the system I think. Lane control can be switched on or off with the button to the left of the 'Res' button. I find mine a little jumpy but sensitivity can be adjusted.
