  1. That old Chestnut! I have friends and family in the medical business, you'd be surprised how many people slip in the bathroom and end-up the deodorant bottle up where the Sun doesn't shine!
  2. But to 'Qualify' you can't write a cheque for your Bar Bill!
  3. I share a name with HM but that's it. Happily, I am not a monarchist and believe the many should not have to pay for the few, worthy or not, to have a life of opulence. The only saving grace imho is that we'd end-up with some ar**hole like Starmer bigging himself up as 'President' - we really would!
  4. To be fair I am sick and tired of the relentless drip, drip of possible bad tidings regarding the Budget! Why the hell is this allowed? I know why it's done - to provide a bellwether response in order that they can then cherry-pick the bad items from the shockingly bad items! All it really does is give time for the News Channels to whip us all into a frenzy of financial fear and can result in desperation in some poor folks. The one 'leak' I expected and still expect is that at some time Pensioners are going to be hit with NI! The excuse will be that we need to pay for the NHS and Elderly care - who the hell are they kidding? Just go to Leicester Royal A&E and count the old (over 66) against the young - I guarantee it will be 10 young for every old person. It's the same as "Your Pension is not Taxable" - it darn well is and is just another way of milking the last few drops from our straining bank accounts. I could go on but if I do my blood pressure will rise and there is no chance of an emergency GP appointment I suppose!
  5. I understand but sadly I feel that the companies have been forced to produce electric vehicles way before their development has reached a suitable level. I think that we can all agree that a 10 minute interlude at an expensive motorway fuel stop is sometimes necessary on a long journey. What I can't accept is an extra 2 hours (in some cases) during a 500 mile trip, just for charging. Then when one gets to where one is travelling to it has to be charged again. All this dependant on chargers being available of course. I accept that we will have to move away from petrol eventually - but let's have it at a fair pace that we can all deal with. Rushing to net zero will only cause misery for we Brits and bankrupt UK-PLC. Meanwhile the Chinese will keep producing cars, that are more than adequate by-the-way, using electricity made from burning coal with unfiltered chimneys pumping-out more CO2 in a month than the UK produces in a year! Where is the sense?
  6. Isn't it sad that new electric car buyers have to resort to borrowing a car to go on their holidays! Come-on Boffins, get this range issue sorted!
  7. Never heard of Radar Runflats but if your ears bleed after driving it will be the Bridgestones!
  8. That noise is always there. We call it the 'UFO' noise. My 'Squeal' is only when slowing - without braking. It only occurs occasionally, usually when just pulling into a car park, or similar, where there are lots of people moving around. They all look to see the 'Old Banger' making the noise of course. When I wash the car I now blow out the front brake dust using a garden blower. There is always a good cloud of the stuff. Not sure it helps but as the issue is so infrequent I suppose that it is doing!
  9. She was largely described as the only Pensioner to have benefitted from the Labour Government too. I guess she still is now she will be doing her 'vital' new job that will probably afford her another few grand in the pension pot! Who said life should be fair? Answers on a postcard to Labour HQ please!
  10. Number 10? I only recall Players Number 6. I thought it a case of rampant inflation until Ms Google put me right!
  11. Having owned both I can say that the Toyota C-HR is nowhere near as refined as the UX but both share the small boot space issue. The older C-HR is particularly dingy in the rear seat compartment. I have the UX version with the track pad and it really isn't that bad. Mostly I use Android Auto with a wireless dongle and just ask Google to do stuff. There must be lots of low mileage UX out there around your budget as they appear to fit a 'certain' age group who appear to drive fewer miles. Mine has the various safety 'extras' like cross-traffic warnings etc. and I recommend one with that as all-round view is somewhat restricted I find. Heated seats are great especially if you have leather/pleather like mine. I would advise you get a fabric finished vehicle though otherwise your a**e freezes or roasts depending on the season!
  12. Must be a warranty issue surely?
  13. I think they're a handsome car even if some feel they aren't a true Lexus for some reason. They definitely drive like one imho. The first thing people remark upon when I give them a lift is the quiet ride!
  14. No, those days have passed. More than half were CHRs!
  15. Hi all. Just been to Malta for a short holiday and whilst I saw lots of Toyota cars I didn't see one Lexus! Maserati, Ferrari, loads of BMW and Range Rovers but not one Lexus. Anyone else noticed this or was it just my bad luck? Maybe European import restrictions I'm thinking.
