  1. Lovely colour for an Alfa, I think that would be my choice too. We should probably have a wee area for ex-F owners, there's a few about now, myself included. I think it would be interesting for ex owners to share feedback on the cars that replaced their F cars. Always fascinating to hear someone's thoughts when they've come from a familiar basepoint.
  2. M3s and M5s aren't the only ones, Porsche Boxsters and the 911s, even the AMG C63 6.2 has issues (head bolts). All great cars but you need to sink ££££s into them under the guise of corrective or preemptive maintenance. The ISFs/GSFs and RCFs appear immune here, almost boringly so by comparison. Recently after seeing a couple of lovely and cheap (relatively) 997.1 Porsches and after reminding myself of all the associated engine concerns and checks, I remembered how if feels not to have a monthly engine fund, or a list of the next several preemptive jobs that would be needed to prevent my engine from eating itself during a morning commute. Sometimes I miss having an M car, but I don't miss the bills.
  3. Really useful to know Lee, I think this is the route I'm going to take also. Let us know how you get on.
  4. Makes Ferodo Ds2500 pads seem cheap in comparison and they are arguably one of the best pads out there.
  5. Looks a lovely GSF... I've been keeping an eye out for these but there are so few and the ones that appear for sale are either silly money of the other end of the country. To give you some perspective, I was looking at a low mileage 15 plate BMW F10 M5 and at 36k it makes the GSFs for sale look very expensive. Shame because I think the GSF suits me better.
  6. It is rather odd... its probably over engineered in some way for what looks like a bit of plastic. I tried to source one in the states when I was doing a front end refresh... Still the guts of £400 and that was before shipping. Mine is still like new so I didn't bother in the end.
  7. The badge simply allows the sensor to pass signals through it. The sensor itself is behind the grill. Doesn't explain why the badge is £500 but there you go.
  8. Ha, I can see a Scottish meet on the cards!
  9. My wife isn't insured on my ISF or any of my previous cars. I thought this was standard behaviour among owners? 😁
  10. Haha, well done on having two coupes! I hope my wife is as understanding when it's my turn. Interested on hearing how the SC and the RCF compare/contrast.
  11. Does anyone know if its simpler with the HDD nav? I assume it's just a USB update, but I haven't found any info so far.
  12. Looks an honest enough car, far better than most of the recent UK car ads if I'm honest. I wish normal car buyers understood these cars better, they'd understand what great value they represent. I am slightly questioning the thinking behind importing this car though, he must have got it cheap. Back in the days when we used to buy imported Evos and Subarus, it was because they were models you couldn't get here.
  13. I wanted to post 'group buy' but I also have a new born to consider. She's 3 weeks old, I'm going to claim sleep deprivation 😋
  14. Last week was the ISFs first MOT and service under my ownership. Wasn't exactly looking forward to it as: a) the car was still in winter storage, b) it was the big service i.e 60k and c) it was a 250 mile trip all in (my local dealer was now just a Toyota dealership). I need not have worried, the car sailed through the MOT and the service went well, additional work needed to correct the wheel alignment and clean up a sticky rear caliper. I really like how they text you a link to a video and the option of authorising any additional work. The highlight was the Salesman Stuart offering a drop off and pick up service to the tram stop. Good lad. There was a bit of a dilema what to choose though... hybrid or v8. Think you can guess what I chose! All in all a great service from Lexus Edinburgh, shame I couldn't get a discount with my club membership though.

  15. Thanks Colin, that clears it up then. Of course, I should have thought about howmanyleft. Only 12 cars? I thought it would have been at least double, considering there are around 200 ISFs in total. I'll have another ponder through that website. I like the fact these are rare, but it's also shame because I'll likely not see another on the roads up here. We should have an 'F Map' so we can see where Fs are based around the country. Might make meets easier 😁 I used to have an Alpina, these were rare but turned out there were loads in Aberdeenshire. Mine comes out of hibernation next week. I said to myself I'd try and run it over winter, but I refused to do it in the end. I've been driving a 2.8 V6 4Motion Passat and I think I've forgotten how enjoyable driving can be!
  16. Hmm, they had the car last year, twice in fact. I wonder why it wasn't done then. SCB, interesting that yours in a 2013 too. I'd been wondering how many more there were.
  17. Letter came through the post this morning. Handily it's in for a service next week so it will get dealt with then. I've not got the letter to hand, but apparently there is some concern about broken mechanism fragments causing driver and passenger injury if faulty. Anyone else get this?
  18. Ooh old skool - digital dash? Last time I saw a Senator it was white and the two blokes inside pulled me over for supposedly driving too fast. I got a lecture until the driver realised I'd sat on his hat when I got in. Instant ticket - oops! (I was 17, nuff said). I'm currently driving the old family winter hack (4Motion Passat) while the ISF is tucked up for winter. It doesn't get stuck in the snow, but it's a handful in the ice. Thinking ahead to next winter, what brand of winter tyres are recommended? I run Michelin 4Ss for summer. Thanks.
  19. Ha, I thought that too. I assume it's a mock up or Photoshop. I figured the ISF would be my last V8 saloon. Though I also said that with my M5 and S5 (coupe). I just can't get enough of the sound and silky smooth power delivery. I'm pretty sure this time it will be last for me however, there isn't much else out there anymore. Emissions and manufacturers are killing them off now. I might be abke to still get one in an SUV down the road, but that's not ideal. I'd be surprised if Lexus even have a v8 in the range for any of their models by the time the new ISF comes around. No-one really wants them anyeay, just us dinosaurs 😁
  20. Thanks, I'll give it a try in the new year then. I'm in no rush, so don't mind it taking a while to arrive. I just didnt like that £47 of the cost was in import taxes.
  21. Guys, inbetween recovering from too many mince pies and mulled wine, I've decided I'd like to replace my leather center armrest lid with an Alcantara one. I've found the part number and verified it by searching this very forum. The sticking point is with delivery and import tax from the US, it's looking like £264. Hmm. I know I could just get it recovered, but I like the idea of a genuine Lexus item. Can these things be sourced by UK dealers any cheaper?
  22. Terrible news. The damage looks too extensive to me for a worthwhile repair, unless you know someone in the trade who could do it for you cheap. But then would you wantvto drive it afterwards? You'd also have a hard time selling it privately once you disclose the repairs. Not sure the is250 route is worth the effort or cost either, unless you are very handy with a spanner. I don't know your situation with the insurance, option 1 for me would be negotiating a decent settlement and buying another ISF. If that wasn't possible I would store the car and use the parts to build a Westfield/kit car. Hmm that's got me thinking actually. At least you walked away from this. Something to remember.
  23. Ouch. Now that I've seen the interior, my can-do attitude to repair such a damaged car would vanish. New headlights, new front seats, dash? $$$$$ I'm out 😁
