  1. Thanks Lee, yes it is the double speed wax I used. I didn’t clay the car as I don’t know what it does..... ? Could you explain please?
  2. Thanks for the tip, I will give that a try when I get through the tin of wax I bought 👍
  3. A snow foam wash and Rain x on the glass and pano roof. Looks like new again. I gave it a wax with Bilt and Hamber wax over 3 weeks ago and it’s holding up very well. The wash was so easy
  4. Welcome Derek, another one of the special breed of Lexus owners. I’m sure you will love your wheels, as most owners irrespective of model on here do. You will feel the exclusivity of your CT when you drive around looking for other CT’s. You will probably see 30 or more C220 s before you spot one.... 👍
  5. I would concur with this. There is a new section of A1 / A14 which I travelled on recently. Absolutely whisper quiet on this section in terms of road noise. However as soon as you get off the new bit and on to the older section of the A1, the road noise increases substantially. The NX is fine, it’s the roads.
  6. Thanks for the advice. I have emailed Lexus and will see what they have to say about it. I must admit it seemed odd to do that and personally I wouldn’t mix treads and makes on the same axle.
  7. Very very nice set of wheels there Les ! 👍😂
  8. Congratulations on your new NX ! I have had mine a couple of weeks now and changed from an IS, mainly because getting in and out of the IS was getting difficult for my wife and I. If it’s any consolation, I think you would have found the UX just as low slung as your previous car, certainly it is as low as the IS. I had a look at one in the showroom on the day I collected my NX and although the hype had been promising, I found it disappointing in the flesh. The boot is indeed shallow and small and the seats are close to the ground. The NX is much more spacious and a more relaxed affair once behind the wheel. My mpg is pretty average at under 35 mpg but I only have short trips, but I knew it would be worse than the IS before I bought it, so I can live with that. The ride height and comfort is so much better in the NX than the IS, but the IS is definitely faster off the blocks and more agile on the move. From previous reports, I would look to change my tyres to Michelin cross climates, but Lexus deemed it ok to mix the front set, with one new Yokohama and one new Michelin..... it doesn’t affect the ride but it was a bit disappointing when I discovered it as I like the same make on each axle. Good luck with your new baby and hope you have many happy motoring miles 👍
  9. I think I need one of them.... 😂👍
  10. It’s also interesting that German cars don’t make the top 30. Lot of crap non German cars out there that owners love more than the German car owners love theirs 😂
  11. A pretty strong showing for all Lexus models, but I don’t think there are too many people on this forum totally surprised by these results. Quality, reliability, comfort, a touch of genuine class that every Lexus owner appreciates.
  12. Download the Waze app Android or IOS version to suit your phone. Pair your phone to the car using Bluetooth connection on the car. Once you have paired, then open the Waze app on your phone, enter a destination and drive. The audio should play through your car. To test the speed limits, just go a bit faster in the zone and the Waze app will alert you with 2 beeps that you are over the speed limit. It also displays in a circle the current road speed limit in case you missed a sign.
  13. Welcome Gavin, how long have you had your NX ?
  14. There is a simple alternative to get the speed bongs loud enough, no matter which version of the NX you drive. Use the Waze app on your smartphone and link the phone to the car. You can have the volume as loud or soft as you want and it works better than the built in satnav
  15. Whenever you want information on a new car, you always look for reviews on it. Unfortunately most are by the likely lads at What car, auto express et al and if you are specifically looking for a Lexus, a rating of 4 out of 5 is likely the best you will see. Most owners on this forum will tell you that is baloney, as they have filtered out all the cobblers on hybrid engines, cvt gearboxes, whining engines (matching the journalists), lack of Diesel engines and other daft comments. Most owners would give their Lexus 5 out of 5. I have always aspired to own one and now I do, but again not without reading reviews and applying filtration. The brand is just so good, it is incredible that it is not selling more than the German marques, but they relate I suppose to a different kind of driver, one who places high values on reliability, comfort and quality and a lesser interest on outright speed and acceleration. Somehow, I don’t see motoring journalists agreeing with that. Rather have a noisy 3 litre turbo diesel that can corner on rails and can do 0-60 mph faster than most police cars.....
  16. Any plug in Lexus will be a success if it can do 30 miles +...... unfortunately you may have to wait 3 to 5 years before that becomes reality..... and that is the real shame, because sales will double once those versions become available
  17. We had a touch of that this morning with frosty roads, but that was too early for the car and it’s driver 😂
  18. Well I collected the NX yesterday. Nice drive back home too. It’s not as sure footed as the IS but I didn’t want a boy racer anyway.
  19. I do both. Disable the fob and then stick it in a Faraday pouch. Why do you do that you might ask? simples, I bought the pouch before reading the tip 😂😂 and it’s a neat storage place for my keys too. I also got another pouch for the spare set and I have done exactly the same with that set, disabled the fob and put it away in the pouch. Hope I remember where I put the keys now.......
  20. Well a week or so later and I have made up my mind...... It is going to be the NX Premier. I found the RX a bit daunting in size and felt it would be an absolute devil to park in tight multi storey car parks. It is gorgeous though and so wide inside, or so it felt. So after a few days humming and haa-ing and after test drives, I plumped for the NX. My son in law has the F Sport version, so I knew the interior was going to be good. It was nice to see one with a few more bells and whistles on it though 😂 Getting in and out of the NX was easy too, which was my main self-afflicted gripe over the IS we currently have. It will be a shame to say goodbye to the IS because it is a lovely car to drive, just a bummer getting out of it at my age, old fart that I am 😜 We collect the NX on Friday. It is a 66 plate in Mercury Grey, with about 38k miles on it. The interior looks great, no sagging seats or marked interior despite the higher than normal mileage. Looks like I will have to change my nom de plume on here now 😊 Thanks for all the comments and suggestions too, they did help.
  21. Thanks Herbs, lol, sleep in it. 😂 The NX is a 2.5 litre, same displacement as the IS, but different set up I believe.
  22. Thanks Ed, it was useful to hear from someone who could directly compare both having driven both extensively. I appreciate it will be my mind to make up, but feedback from current drivers of them would be useful too. Interesting to read your comments on mpg comfort and noise too.
  23. This post has also been placed in the RX segment.... have been looking at the Lexus SUV’s recently with a view to swapping my IS300h for an NX or an RX. initially I looked at the NX as I had previously test driven one for an hour before I decided to get the IS, the main reason for which was the fuel economy, nothing more. However, as you do, on reflection, considering I only do around 7000 miles the fuel savings isn’t going to be a huge bag of beans. Also, I had the use of an NX for a day while a camera was being fitted to my IS and it brought home to me that the ride height is much more suitable to us than the IS, which we now find difficult to get out of, as it is quite low. I started looking at 2nd hand 16 or 66 plate NX’s for sale with reasonable mileage and they ain’t that cheap, coming in around and above £30k. I thought if I am going to look around that level, then why not look at an RX as well, which I did. Ok, for a few grand more again, I could get an RX instead and given that I have got over my fuel consumption stigma (was a Prius owner) I wondered if this might be the better choice of the 2 overall. What are your views? Given the choice would you buy an NX or an RX? I don’t need a big car anyway, but I would like one of these 2. Which would you choose and why?
