Sorry, I see this is an old thread but I have issues with my sensors as well - can't reset them so I checked the price of the sensor and you are right - silly money! So going to Lexus you will need to pay for the sensors and then for the wheels re-balanced?! Does anybody knows how much it cost to do it in Lexus - change all 4 sensors? Cheers

I will give it a go one more time on my lunch.

Hi KayCee, thanks for replying, when you say battery you mean sensor batteries, right? Not the main car Hybrid battery! I have tried by just pressing the switch on button (with no foot on brake) and my dash board doesn't even show anything (like low tire pressure warning) so I press reset button nothing happens, I hold for different amount of time (from 3sec to 30!) and nothing! May be it is a sensors batteries. Do you need to remove the tire to change the sensors or the batteries? Sounds like a Lexus job, it's probably need some sort of coding after that. Thanks KayCee.

Well, I found the button but pressing it doesn't change anything and the light is still on! Do I follow instructions right? When it says switch the power ON, does it mean start the car like brake pedal pressed and push the switch button on? Anyway I tried both ways (starting the car and just pressing switch ON) and it didn't work, I mean the light is flushing initially for a while, then flushing stops, I push the reset button and the light doesn't flush 3 times as needed and just stays on. Do I really need to go to Lexus? Did anyone had similar issue? Thanks.

Thanks, I will have a look again tomorrow but I am pretty sure it's not there but as you say of it's hidden that well I will give it another try! Why would you hide it that far, why not make an option within interface like many Germans do? I guess it is easier just press the button if you can find it in 1st place! lol! 🙂

This is what manual says but I am either blind or stupid but I can't find this button! I have similar issue, the light is on on the dashboard, I checked the tire pressures and made sure they are to the manufacture requirements (tire were cold) but I do not know how to reset the TPM, I drove the car after that and it didn't reset itself, what am I doing wrong? Can it be that the garage that sold me the car and who changed the rear tires didn't do something right like ID these sensors? Thanks.

Hi everyone, I picked up my 1st Lexus today and drove it from Edinburgh to Glasgow. I love it! Honestly, so far I like everything about the car! Here are a few pictures guys, I hope you like it too. I am still discovering all the toys he has and how to use them! I like this forum as well, very easy to navigate (almost identical to BMW forum) and very very interesting to read!
-
I didn't know or expect a GS to do that! This is great, beautiful! I wouldn't do that to my car but it nice to know it can be done! Do you think they had to disconnect all the electric restrictions on the car to do that? Is there actually a button that can switch off all of it so you can have some skidding fun, on a private road of course. :)

I consider myself a badge snob (love BMW's) so when I was searching for a new car I never considered a GS, well, it has big petrol engine, heavy, not popular and while test driving other cars (after GS) I was doing my research and Lexus is comfy, plush inside, actually quite a looker, very reliable BUT hitting 62mph under 6 seconds was one of the factors I like about the car even if I use it 20% of the time. I like quick acceleration or even just to make a quick maneuver and having this ability just makes driving safer, for the same reason I would not buy my wife a car that is slow but "economical", it can be not safe. For most people (people buying A-class 180d for example) acceleration does not matter but it does to me. Just saying.

Me personally would like to see pictures of your car, on BMW forum it was almost compulsory for a new owner to share the picture of his pride! 😉
-
Drl welcome! Congratulations with the new car! I am picking mine (GS) hopefully this weekend, the garage is finishing a few things for me before I pick it up. Regards your radio issues, sorry I don't have any links to help you but it can be very expensive I guess. I am in a process of selling a BMW that has faulty CD drive and DVD drive, I just checked yesterday how much it will cost me to fix it, well £500-800 and this is almost 10% of the car price! I barely used CD as I have a usb port (plus radio is working) and only once used DVD which is outdated and slow so I use my phone, basically I am saying that your radio issue won't be that expensive. Good luck and enjoy the car! Vlady

Hi John, welcome to LOC, I am new here too, like you I have been driving diesels for last 10 (not 15) years and not sure what is the best way to drive it, apparently coasting is good, get to speed quickly and then maintain it, this is what I will try anyway as I do not have the car (Lexus GS450h) yet and should get it this weekend. How do you like Lexus so far?
-
For a start I have a 3.0ltr diesel and I averaging 35-38mpg with my driving and I don't drive fast, most of my commute is to/from work, if Lexus can do same I will be happy as knowing you have all that power under the bonnet is reassuring. Reading all the above gives me different way of thinking on how the hybrid works, I thought is actually charges the battery while braking - didn't BMW had something called Regenerative braking but tbh I am not sure how that works exactly either!:) So the more you coast the better, I like accelerating fast to a speed limit and then just cruise. Anyway, can't wait to drive it again, I hope I will get the car this weekend!

From my experience every new car you buy be it diesel or petrol, auto or manual needs your driving adjusted. My neighbor bought Nissan Leaf and said it totally changed his way of driving. I am surprised the car doesn't like rain, I thought may be cooler air is better for the engine but may be it is to do with bigger tire resistance against the water.

Thanks bobmc, I hope I will enjoy the car and I think I will! Re squeaks and rattles, it's not good, my BMW e60 doesn't have any and this is one of the reason I probably kept it for so long! I hope I won't end up fixing one after another, the car comes with Mark&Levinson audio, I guess I will be listening to that beautiful sound a bit more louder! 🙂 I can confirm - the car is fast, quite fast if that makes sense and picks up almost instantly, although I only tried it in a city and hope at motorway speed it will be picking up as quick, I got spoiled with my 3.0ltr diesel! 😉

Paid my deposit on Lexus GS450h! :) I hope it will be as good as everyone says it is!
-
One more thing that was annoying, the car had couple squeaks, one I managed to trace to seat belt adjustment push button and was really really surprised how cheap it's made and how shaky and wobbly it is, another one was coming from front passenger side but I could not spotted it. This things would drive me mad!

Hi all, well I had a test drive yesterday, not the best one as it was on streets in Edinburgh with speed mostly limited to 20mph not the roads surface quality was not the best at all, what does council do will all the road tax we are paying?! Anyway, here are my thoughts, tbh honest I was left in such a mixed feeling, usually I know straight away if I like the car or not, very rarely when I can fell in love with the car and the older I get the harder to get that feeling! 😞 Good points: Comfy, quiet and with plush interior, fantastic Mark & Levinson sound system, more spacious than I expected and adjustability of these front sits are crazy, also I think the car looks good and the rarity factor present, I still have to see one GS since I have been looking at this one! Almost forgot, the car is fast and the engine sounds distant but has nice sound to it. So, all these points tell me go and buy it but let’s get to the points I didn't like or these that will be annoying me (maybe) later in ownership. Bad points: I know this is this particular car but on a test drive the car kept pulling left, something I experienced with run flat tyres, the tyres looked like had the right pressure, so not sure what the cause. The ride I bit crashy, thanks God it’s not noisy but as I mentioned above the roads condition is atrocious and it felt like the car designed more for highway than dealing with potholes. The car has a very light steering, not sure if I like it or don’t, it’s just different to my BMW tbh every other car steering is lighter than BMW I think. I couldn’t get an average mpg as OBC was showing graphs and I couldn’t figure out how to read it so infotainment system is totally different to Germans, everyone says I should get out of it about 35-38mpg. I think I like the car but the garage was not willing to negotiate on price at all and paying £20k for a 6 years old car not ideal, I found I can get 15plate 3 series in x-drive form with 3.0ltr diesel engine with half the miles this Lexus has! But Lexus is so rare and it’s Lexus! I also have noticed that rear tyres have enough thread just now but before wet season starts you will need a new pair. What shall I do?! My wife suggest to try couple more cars before I make my decision, like Jag, Merc or another BMW. Not 100% sure I want to stay conventional!
-
The-Acre I will do a test drive tomorrow, Sunday. 🙂But I will keep you all updated! 😉 Thanks
-
Hi Farqui, thanks for input, no I have not driven any hybrid or any electrical car, I stay in Glasgow and the car is in Edinburgh so I am travelling tomorrow to test drive it. I see why I won't like the car, just feel like I need a change from BMW, this is my 3rd one! If I get average about 40mpg that should be fine, I like to accelerate fast but then usually just set to a cruise at 65-70mph. MK4, so this is how it's called :) , should be more economical, we will see.
