Private number plate suggestions
Vlady replied to Vlady's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
I like it! There is no way I will be getting a 16 plate car in near future though! :) VL12ADY, will this work? The idea is great! I need to go to DVLA, as you say you pay what you see. Thanks Richard. -
Private number plate suggestions
Vlady replied to Vlady's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
I would be paying up to £400 so £250 is perfect! :) -
Hi Kenny, looks like a clean example! What mileage on it? What car did you have before and why Lexus? Welcome to LOC! :)

Hi everyone, I was thinking to get myself a Private Number Plate for the last 4 years may be more than that, I am sure some people will think it is a waste of money or childish or something else, I have created this thread not for discussing it, I just need an advice what to get and where to get it it. I don't know how you read number plates (private I mean) in UK and what is legal spacing or text etc. I would be looking for something not expensive, under £500ish, is it doable? My name is Vladimir, so something similar to it would work. Surname Cobilean. Previously when I looked into it i came up with 2 options: VL04 CBL and V14 CBL I know it is a long shot but any ideas are welcome. Thanks Vlady

If you cannot choose lexus what brand would you go for?
Vlady replied to dutchie01's topic in Lexus General Discussions
Is it so bad? I am still digesting how bad MB nowadays is, plus was reading a bit on Infiniti - some people really like it. I am glad and feel lucky that when I had a choice I went Lexus not Jaguar XF or an E-classe! -
Lexus Service, first time customer, not impressed
Vlady replied to Zubair's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Hi Zubair, how is it going? Any luck? My colleague has similar issue (not to the same extent though), his Peugeot was picked up yesterday from our work (very nice of the Peugeot) for MOT and Service, he was promised a call back at 3pm, at 3.10 he called them just to find out that the car failed an MOT, something with the ball joint and the worst thing - he couldn't get a car until it's fixed, apparently it is illegal he's been told so he had to leave the car with them and approve the repair work for today! The thing is - they never called earlier or on time to tell the guy that he won't have his car, luckily he found a lift home and staying not that far. All UK garages are mafia! -

It's a shame isn' it? End of 70's to middle of 90's MB was one of the most reliable cars and now it fall all the way down. I think nowadays it is safer to buy a 25 years old 190E Merc or an ols W124 than a c-class or E-class. Hey, people still buy it though, just tells you how reputation proceeds you. 🙂 -

I quite like the way it looks from outside, not so sure about interior though, I would need to sit in and tough it, play with it. The reason I asked is that my friend drives an 11plate E-class and was thinking about changing it and asked me about Q50., I had a look quickly at some reviews and they are not good at all! Why would they use an old Merc 2.1 engine? Oh well, never mind! By the way, she is very happy with her E-class, may be just a lucky car! -
450 service

IN Scotland we have no much choice, almost all garages belong to Arnold Clark. Most of them have good Sale departments, some of them you just don't want to buy a car when you see a salesmen (happened to me), Service Department in all of them are crap, Arnold Clark is all about selling cars and after that they do not want to know you! -

I think they are Eastern Western company, just checked - they have good reviews on line! May be mine expectations are to high? -

I don't think any one mentioned Infinity? Thoughts? Reviews are not good at all! -
I emailed Lexus Glasgow on Monday using contact details provided on this site and have had no reply yet, not even acknowledgment of receiving an email, may be I need to give then a call and ask for Philip personally! It looks more likely I will be going to Lexus Edinburgh if I need anything bought or done for my car that is not covered by my warranty as I am losing my faith in Glasgow Lexus. @Admin Steve will you please let me know if you have more luck with renewing the contract with them? Thanks Vlady

450 service
Vlady replied to KayCee's topic in Lexus GS 300 / Lexus GS 250 / Lexus GS 430 / Lexus GS 450h / Lexus GS 460 Club
Thanks for a reply Brian. I emailed on Monday to Lexus Glasgow using contact details provided here and heard nothing back! I think I will be moving to Lexus Edinburgh as Lexus Glasgow are not up to date if I may say so. As I mentioned before I bought my previous car from Lexus (BMW) and even then their service wasn't great and now having Lexus just proves the point, I do not feel famous Lexus service at all! Anyway, hopefully I won't need to visit them in a near future! I had to buy a new wipers from Lexus as mine were an aftermarket so from now on I will be changing just rubbers from Lexus. -

I would stick to that list if the cars are brand new, if USED I would consider Mazda, Volvo. -

I am on BMW forum (still) and they are not really reliable, not bad but not Japanese cars either, I have had three BMW (e46, e39 and e60) in a last 11 years, last one an e60 I had for 3.5 years and it was the most reliable car I have had but rust started on rear arches which is not common for an e60 so I had to get rid of it, I think it was badly repaired before my ownership. -
Rayaan thank you for your advice. Rain X does leave the smear unless you wipe it very well after applying it, anyway, I never used anything else and might try Powermaxed Rain Off. I will defo pop in to B&Q and buy the Nilco Glass cleaner, also never knew there is a special cloth for that, will need to get one as well one of these! I love my windows clean, I can leave the car for a few extra day longer dirty but I will wash windows and the wheels! For every day I have a used wiper in my car so every morning I am using it to remove the water on windows after rain or a condensation! Am I sad?! :)
-
Fantastic results! Do you clean your windows from the inside too? if yes, what do you use? Why you don't use Rain X on front window? Cheers. Vlady

How much importance do you place 0-60?
Vlady replied to Stuno1's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
People say in 30-50 years they never considered 0-62 time, I can't believe it! There had to be a situation when you needed more/better acceleration for situation, well, may be it is not 0 to 60 but 0-30/40! Or people just happy to drive behind caravan at 30mph for hours, get all the exhaust and spray from it and this is not a smooth and progressive way of driving this is a phlegmatic way and I have never met such patience people in my life, I have seen them though, they also drive so close to caravan that you can't even overtake them as they are making sure there is no gap between them and caravan so people do not overtake them and then when road opens up you have to overtake 2 sometimes 3 cars (including caravan) in one time and that's when you need a good acceleration. -
Thanks Steve, would be good to have an updated list. If some of the money that are paid for a membership are going to support the club I have nothing against it and think it is justifiable and totally right. Thanks John, I probably should find these details myself! Anyway, I emailed the dealer using the contacts provided, will keep everyone updated if I get any response from them.
