  1. That is rubbish, when I heard that news I was shocked as my premium every year goes up as my NCB!
  2. It is not because the way it looks but because of the electrical drive. 🙂 lol
  3. Everyone I know, friends, colleagues, parents were shocked that I changed BMW and didn't buy another BMW, well, I was quite surprised myself but I like being different and unpredictable sometimes! 🙂 One friend still calls my car a fork lift truck but I don't mind, this is just jealousy as he drives 2.0 diesel Skoda! 🙂
  4. Your insurance must be through the roof! I have like 10-12 YNCB and paid this year almost £600!
  5. doesn't make sense! Insurances are rip off. It's like paying more if you keep your car on drive way or a garage and you have to pay more, idiotic!
  6. I watched it last night, I think I got used to presenters now and especially since Evans left I think the program is not bad. A shame they don't do more reasonably priced cars on show as they used to.
  7. Listen to your wife, she loved the car that is all that matters! Welcome to the forum by the way! Before I bought L:exus I considered Jaguar XF and Merc E-class and my wife said you are not that old (I am 38 with 2 kids) to drive a Merc! this was it, I never even went for a Merc test drive! Lol! No regrets with Lexus at all and I consider myself a BMW man!
  8. Lee, by how much your average mpg is down? I do for the last couple months 31-32.5mpg, it dropped to from summer time. Do you feel the difference after you changed oil/filters and plugs? Is the engine smoother and quitter? 🙂
  9. Common Alan, how was it? The car looks nice on video and pictures.
  10. I am not sure about the position of the 2 USB ports, personally I listen music from USB so it is always in and hidden, on ES these USBs will be always sticking out! Another thing - rear view camera, I never thought about it but recently I saw it on my friends E-class - camera is hidden and only retracts when you use revers gear this way the camera always clean, why Lexus didn't do it? I am sure these a small little irritations and may be just for me but hey I am just sharing them with you. The car looks very nice though! @ThomasD94 thank you for your video! @VinnyB looks like you really enjoy your car, this is nice! Congrats on your new purchase! 48.5mpg is very impressive for such a big car! Keep these updates coming!
  11. Hi Harry! Welcome to LOC! We want to see pictures of your car, sound like a good motor and you are very happy with it!
  12. Never worked with me calling to my insurer, they never can meet the online price, hell, they couldn't even meet what's online while I am on a phone suggesting that I should use internet to buy! Never experienced any loyalty or the wish to keep the business. Your prices are so cheap, unbelievable!
  13. I am driving my wife's Citroen for last couple of days as it has winter tires and we have snow forecast - I miss my Lexus! 😞
  14. uau! My old e34 BMW has the same (my dad back home drives it now and then) and every time I am home I wash it away properly! Was not aware and actually never checked on Lexus if it has the same design rear arches. Once the weather gets better I will check it and clean it! thanks for a tip!
  15. I had no doubt you would answer first, lol! :) I am 100% with you when you say that city centers will be having cleaner air if we all move to electric cars. The point I was trying to make is that by restricting ICE and moving to fully electrical cars will require government to step up and do something about the grid as to provide electricity to all these cars will require a lot of energy and as it stands I do not believe UK is ready for it. As you numbers suggests we get our electricity by burning 40% of gas, well, it will be much much more if the amount of electric cars will swap with ICE. Electric cars is the future and no doubt some of them are good to drive (never driven one yet) but government support is lagging behind now and it will be the case in a future.
  16. Looks like everyone is up for electric cars so there is no fumes or burning dinosaurs, people, where do you think electricity comes from? Especially in UK that has ONLY 1 (if I am not mistaken) nuclear power station and it is that old that can't provide enough energy for one shire! The rest of electricity either from Europe (France has quite a few Nuclear Stations) or from GAS burning, is it not naive to look forward to ONLY electricity? The grid will collapse! UK will need at least 20 years if not more to catch up with electricity demand if they want to stop BURNING other type of fuel.
  17. If there was an engine choice in ES line up we wouldn't have all these pages of conversation! lol!
  18. I agree with @Linas.P here - ES cost more than £40k, has 2.5ltr petrol engine and it is slower than similar sized cars with 2.0ltr diesel engine that cost £10k less! I am not saying it is a slow or dangerous car, for example, my wife's car does 0-60 in 10-10.5 seconds and it is acceptable pace (for a 7-seater diesel), what I am saying Lexus should do better for the car that cost that much and wants to be in a class of 5-series MB and A6. I wonder what ES time for 50-70mph, I guess not great as engine stat say torque is low (very low).
  19. Were the discs/brakes thin or close to minimum limit? I can't see them overheat to warp so the only reasonably explanation they were well used.
  20. I had a Passat 2.0tdi with DSG for 5.5 years and I never noticed any issues with it, never had any problems quality wise either. Yes, at the roundabouts at first it was dodgy but soon enough I learned how it works/performs and didn't have problems, I just adapted to gearbox I guess. I agree with some of the comments, DSG is not ideal on a slope (my house is on a slope), not as quick to change down and may be not as smooth in town but honestly I learned the way it works and it never bothered me. I have nothing eCVT but my opinion it is only suits cars with powerful enough engine (like GS450h), and fair enough I have not driven any IS300h or GS300h but I think it will have a lag as well as smaller engines are not torquey enough so you would end up with constant engine drone every time you want to accelerate briskly. Regards Lexus ES, I know I am coming back to what people have discussed 1000 times, so it has like what 220bhp and it takes almsot 9seconds to get to 60-62mph, in my opinion it is not acceptable, even Skoda Superb with 2.0ltr petrol (similar power output) and DSG takes like 2 seconds less to do the same sprint. ES will be great for cruising only, and slowly.
  21. Yes, I need to do that Krzystof, tyres would be the 1st step to get rid of this "skipping" effect. Thanks for post. Did you get a chance to drive a GS on snow? Did you have to use a setting "SNOW"? How was it?
  22. We told you you had a great offer there! lol!
  23. I think it is a good value £345! Keep us updated Shahpor. Good luck!
  24. so @mr2lad extended warranty do cover seats issue, well I guess if yours was heating element or something didn't work it is different to mine as Lexus says tear and wear! Pisses me off!
