  1. Yep, found it, it does look more like a reminder though. I was going to change brake fluid and air filter but the computer says it has been changed last year so I am good I guess, it will be for me oil/oil filter and pollen filter, and may be coolant. On another hand these items are pretty cheap, should I change them anyway, especially air filter?
  2. Ups! Sh.t! Thanks Colin.
  3. Lithium soap based glycol grease?! I did today my rear callipers, just cleaned them and checked the pins and I used copper grease to lub them? Is it alright or I made a mistake?! Thanks Sorry Sam to hijack your thread, it is some job you have there! Keep us posted how you can sort it.
  4. Thanks guys, I will have a look tomorrow, may be actually later tonight.
  5. Thanks Colin, this is good to know. Strange though, most cars nowadays tell you how much miles left to next service therefore require a computer reset after the service.
  6. Does any one know if computer needs to be re-set after the oil change? Also I have been told there is no change of the fuel filter as it is part of the fuel pump, I find it strange tbh.
  7. John, I will get it next week! May be I can find cheaper stuff around but these are Lexus genuine parts so will get them! Thanks
  8. I bought a pedal bike for my 6 years old daughter there and then a year later a kids scooter, I managed to use a LOC discount on top of discounted items and in a bike department I had probably the best service ever, just great Halfords branch at Braehead Glasgow!
  9. I have a quote from Lexus for engine oil (7ltr), oil filter, pollen and air filter and sump washer, all for just under £150. OIl is the most expensive comes at £70, basically £10 per litre. I also hope to use my Golden member card to get 10% on it.
  10. Hi Richard, I used my card in 2 Halfords brunches in Glasgow and they worked, as John above sometimes they give me a look but at the end it always worked. Also, at last, last Friday I had an MOT and service department confirmed that they do accept LOC golden membership card, funny enough, it was the same person who last year said that he never seen cards like this before and has no idea what LOC is!
  11. I agree, it is all done for a stamp in a book. The same time I agree that main dealership might see more than an indy but after going over 40k service plan it is just an oil change and a LOT of checks (hell, even security of floor mats), it looks more like a memo to a mechanic more than a plan for a customer!
  12. Hi John, I agree with you, the plan was to buy 2 off and in a few moths 2 more so I am prepared for a Scottish winter. I am sure you can mix Cross Climates with other tyres, well, some people mix winter with cheap summer tyres and not a single garage tell them no no, I am perfectly aware this is not a good practice and if I do it it it will only be for a short time and even then I doubt that as I want to do wheel alignment so 4 new tyres is perfect which is a shame as 2 rears I have only has done less than 8k miles and looks almost new! My coleugue drives Civic which was on 4 Cross Climates, when he had a puncture beyond repair, Honda put another tyre so he can just pass an MOT and never said it is not advisable! I know it is not safe, a few years back I wanted to buy Subaru Outback, after I turned for a test drive I found that it has 4 (four) different tyres, never seen that, so I told the sale rep that Manual says never mixed tyres no Subaru 4 wheel drive and I want them to be the same make, his reply was - as long as they are above legal limit they won't change any of them so I just left the garage! Anyway, my point is: I know it is bad for handling, braking, acceleration but why garages are still letting people do that!
  13. Hi Shahpor, not yet. Before I found out that the foam ca get change I popped in to a place that does exterior polish and has been quoted £400 for a 3 stage polish so I was planning to do that but now I know that the foam would cost me £430 I am thinking to do the seat plus I will need couple front tyres (Michelin Cross Climates this time) which are not cheap, 40k service is coming in a couple of months so plenty to think about. My wife was driving my Lexus for 3 weeks and said seat are very comfy and all the sagginess is in my head! lol! 🙂
  14. HI all, while having an MOT yesterday at Lexus Glasgow I was asking more questions about drivers seat base, so they had to look into it and said that all they can think off is to change a foam base which would cost £429 incl.labour, not to bad of it will cure the problem, also I already spent £220 on this issue! If they told me from the beginning it will cost £429 I would do it straight away! I also asked Lexus to program the Automatic door look - once the car reaches 15mph, I could not do it through car menu and the dealer could not do it through coding, very weird and disappointing! On a good note the car passed an MOT!
  15. Hi John, totally forgot about it, I mean to update the thread. I think the light are great to be honest, I can't recall a moment thinking I need brighter lights. Heated seats are a joke but better than nothing I guess, heated mirrors not as powerful and I have noticed dampness/condensation inside on rear window, do not where that came from but was almost all winter using a demister pad ti minimise it and a few times I had to actually wipe it off!!!
  16. Passed MOT today with no advisories, well apart from 2 front tyres that slightly worn on outer sides but I know about it and thinking to swap them over later this year.
  17. My wifes car was fixed (it only took 3 weeks at dealer) so at last I got my Lexus back, I missed it so much! I gave it today a proper wash taking my time with it and the cabin was so dusty! Skoda is not bad but Lexus is on totally another level! I am so happy!
  18. 10k service - I guess this is the main reason Lexus runs for ever as almost any other manufacture do Long Life Service i.e 18k miles! Does LOC discount works on Service prices if anyone knows. @Casa1862 prices were increased in March 2019, if previous 40k service would cost me (before March) a £495 now it is £535!
  19. Welcome Keiran, nice car! How do you like it? She must be great, quick, smooth, quite!
  20. Just found online what is included in Major Essential service (£435) and I am disappointed, there are a lot of checks and inspections which is good but all they change is the engine oil and oil filter!!! The rest if you want to change (like pollen, fuel filter, diff oil) they will charge you additional cost! Is it not a bit harsh to pay for oil change £435? Fair enough Hybrid system is included in this price, but it is still mainly an oil service! Minor service cost £235 and involves less checks than Major one but still an oil service at the end of the day! I think you pay this price just for a Lexus stamp in the book!
  21. Hi John, thank you for the input, I am thinking about doing Essential service by Lexus, I will try to get more information when I am there next Friday, you are right, as long as paper work matches, plus I need to make sure they will the book and with spark plugs my thoughts exactly - get them done when mileage comes. I also need to pop in to Lexus Edinburgh, they know my car but I don't know anyone there. John, do they accept LOC discount? Thank you
  22. Thanks Phil, I couldn't remember that specific word - Essential, but you are right, there are not so many checks and not sure about service book, can they actually do that i.e do service and do not stamp the book!
  23. The guy actually had a mouth pad with the price for all Lexus cars and it was dated March 2019. They offered another type of service for cars over 5 years old which was not much cheaper for oil and filter change especially not using Lexus parts, according to service rep. I will try to call next week Lexus Edinburgh though, I have heard good reviews about them.
  24. I popped in to Glasgow Lexus today and booked the car for an MOT test next Friday, while I was there I asked Service department about the Service as I am due in a couple of months. At the moment my car is at 39.5-40k miles so I expected to get a 40k service price, but I was told that mt car is due 60k service, you can imagine my surprise! Apparently it is not only by mileage but also per year, as the car is 2012 it is due 60k service which cost £735!!! But, this BIG service includes diff oil and the spark plugs! I was also quoted for 4-off Michelin Cross Climate tyres at £869! 4 wheel alignment would cost me £95. Service price seems a bit harsh as I kind of prepared myself for 40k £495 service and pay more not really acceptable by me, yet. I have been told if I want I can get 40k service done no problem if I want to but the thing is it will be saying in a Lexus app (history) saying 40k service as it is says now shows last year was done 50k service and I thought initially it was a mistypo! What would you do guys/girls regards service, carry on 40k service and forget about the Lexus app or get it done what Lexus requires at 60k somewhere privately?
  25. Someone mentioned that spark plugs are being changed at 60k service, yours were not done, so do they get changed at 40k? Does anyone know? Are they included in the service price?
