  1. Thanks guys @The-Acre and @Toothy, I was going to contact ,y provider anyway but it is good to know that some insurances do not charge you. David, I will be buying (if) through DVLA and I think normal spacing/standard spacing will be fine, thanks anyway. Regards Vlady
  2. Hi guys, coming back to this post, my wife and I have a 10 year anniversary next month and she knows how much I would like a private number plates so most likely I will get one! 🙂 The question I have is, does insurance charge your more for having private number plates? Does your premium go up? Thanks
  3. I too washed the car today, nothing fancy as Lee above, just a snow foam and 2 bucket was after that. Also wiped interior and applied leather softener to the seats, I applied GTechniq 1 C2 last time I washed the car so it's still fine, never even had time to dress the tyres as my wife asked my to wash her car! Anyway, couple pictures below.
  4. Thank you Brian, I will try some of these tricks. Speaking of, on my dads old Soviet car - Volga (GAZ 2410) we had a grounding strap which worked but it would look weird on Lexus or any modern car. 🙂 I am not 100% sure but I think it started after I put in a seat cushion on drivers seat, which reminds me that I need to fix my seat base!
  5. Does anybody know why my car gives me an electric little shock after I drive it? Does it need to have some kind of earth?
  6. Annual service - this is an oil change basically or anything else?
  7. Bought this today at Lexus Glasgow, £142.67 for all (7ltr of oil, oil filter, air filter, pollen filter and sump washer). Did I over paid? I have never seen an oil being such a grade 0W-20!
  8. It's not as much of what I did today to Lexus but was thinking that when I did by breaks (rear/front) I have not seen any cables for brake pads wear! Does Lexus not do that? Also, I watched the video on youtube how the guy is changing spark plugs on his Lexus RX450h, well, I think I will postpone this job as a lot of stuff needs to be removed and disconnected before you get to spark plugs!!! 🙂
  9. Hi John, I got the idea, I need to remove my seat 1st and see if I can do that without braking anything and only than consider how to fix it. Someone told me that Lexus leather is glued to the foam so it is not easy to remove it of the seat, not sure, only one way to find out! 🙂
  10. Brian, this is good, well done for posting it! This is all what this thread is about - you have done it to your car and you like it! This is all that matters!
  11. That is one comfy limo for daily drive! Well done!
  12. I have, paid £100 and no much difference, the guy said he did all he could and I felt the little difference but compared to the passenger seat mine is still has a long way to go!
  13. Hi welcome to LOC, hope you will find lots of useful information in here!
  14. I guess this thread won't be as popular as on BMW forum where much higher number of owners and even higher amount of things to do on the car! 🙂 But still, now I know how to change front discs and pads, may be someone will need this info in a future and I might help or answer a question or 2. For example, I was thinking if I can swap spark plugs, did anyone do that on 450h hybrid? I have read somewhere on this forum that it is a pain in a neck to do but if I do not need any special tooling I might give it a go! Or, as you know I have problems with the driver seat, Lexus quoted £430 for new base foam and labour, I am thinking to buy the foam and may be change it myself, did anyone removed the seat and put it apart to get all the way to the foam? Anyway, have a good day everyone! Vlad
  15. I will go first: On Friday I checked the air filter if needs changing, computer pre set says it is good for another year and like 12k miles but based on a condition of it I will be changing it soon, my service is due in 2-3 weeks. Also, last week I took apart my rear brakes, unfortunately I did not take any pictures, cleaned them as they were quite rusty, lubricated them and not I am happy that pins were looked after, just piece of mind. Last Friday I did the same with front brakes, so happy chappy! I was really surprised how easy it was to remove front discs and pads, just 2 bolts to remove the caliper which also frees the disc, nice and easy! After that I washed the car but was very annoyed to see yellow dust on it straight after, I was hoping that storm from Sahara has passed but obviously not! And then a short rain started! Grrr! In old times you had to kill a goat or a virgin and pray a lot to get rain not all you need to do just wash a car! 🙂
  16. HI all, I think it would be good to have a thread like that but time will tell. You can put in here anything that you have done to your Lexus, a repair, maintenance, washed or polished it or a modification. This thread for all Lexus, not just for specific model, it is not so many of us to have one for GS or IS etc. So why not start one here? It'll be interesting to see what you guys get up to with your cars! Might give me some ideas on what to do too as mine is still completely stock. Let's go!
  17. Brian hi, I have the same problem on my 2012 GS which has only done 40k miles! I created a thread about it: I am thinking to buy foam and change it myself, as it is very annoying to have cooled/heated seats and use a cushion!
  18. That is stunning Lexus in white and these wheels looks fabulous! Welcome back!
  19. I am the same, one for radio and smaller one for heating! 🙂
  20. That is almost what I get on my hybrid!!! How did you do it?!
  21. One more thing to add to your initial post, you said the car will be under 60k miles, please remember that 60k miles (or a 6 years service) is the most expensive one as spark plugs has to be changed, so check if this is has been done or negotiate the price accordingly. I am as @bobmc above, if the car has cheap tyres or different between left and right I would walk away or be much more pedantic with checking everything else, condition, MOT history, service history etc.
  22. Hi Audrey, I think you should not have any reliability issue worries, GS is in top 10 cars in recent survey for customer satisfaction, reliability, comfort, in fact I think it was marked down only on infotainment friendliness. I have my GS for almost a year now and love it, apart form the issue I have with the driver seat base (I built a thread about it) so check it is not worn on yours but so far I have not heard any one else with the same issue. GS250 is lighter than GS450h therefore it should be close in mpg, especially on motorway, it will still be comfortable and quite and much cheaper to buy than the GS450h, it's only acceleration that will be worth but, you will have a bigger boot! I am not 100% sure but I think GS250 has a proper auto GBox compared to CVT in GS450h and some people do not like it (CVT), I think it is ok in GS450h but I would struggle with it in GS300h. I don't think you will regret, just take it for a test drive and if you can take it to motorway, it is very comfortable car! What car did you have before or still have? Oh, make sure all Pressure Monitor sensors work! Hope it somehow helps, keep us updated Audrey.
