Yes, it is as not as bad as it was which suggest that discs are not the issue but they still need to be checked. Phoned Lexus Glasgow and asked how they would check if the issue with the discs and they suggested as you above - using the gauge, so I am waiting for a phone call back from them with the price. I explained that I am not spending almost £500 on parts without making sure that I need these parts! I also cleaned all the mating faces when I removed the discs so do not expect any ingress there.

Thanks @i-s for the info above, based on that the thickness of the front discs for 450h is 30mm, well, I measured mine and they both above 29mm, so how in hell can they be warpped or damaged or bended or whatever?! I think I shall take that matter to Lexus and insist for them to investigate it, does anyone think it will work or worth trying?

Just a quick update, took apart my front brakes yesterday, visually they are fine, the thickness of the front discs in average 29mm and the thickness of the pads about 8.8-9.2mm, may be I can say that discs slightly worn on the inside side but nothing I would worry about, I couldn't tell if they are warped either. Anyway, I cleaned everything and relubricated using a Proslip grease suggested by @OldTrout above! So took it for a short test drive and didn't feel a single wobble/judder during braking and was very happy but wanted to check it at motorway speeds going to work, so today driving to work and joining the slip road at about 60mph and while braking I think I felt some little judder, it was nothing as bad as it was previously, my wife wouldn't even feel anything like that if she was driving but I think I felt it, may be it is psychological! :) Well, i think I can live with the way brakes work now but need to start saving money for a new set of front brakes and pads!

Shahpor hi, I measured today the pads and the discs thickness, they re as follows: Discs vary between 28.93-29.33mm Pads vary between 8.49-9.36mm I have no idea what the new ones are but visually they do not look worn, so I cleaned everything, re-lubricated (with fancy grease, someone suggested here recently) and put it back together, I also washed the wheels properly and applied the Poorboys wax/sealant. So, I took it for a short test drive and the wobble/judder has gone, I do not want to say much more and test my fait but I will check it tomorrow on my way to work and will confirm it. Fingers crossed it's not there or I will need to fork out for a new pads and discs! -

I have and will use a Vernier Calliper to measure their thickness and will let you know. -

I got today special lubricant for pads, pins etc, so I plan to take front brakes apart, do double check if the callipers are not sticking and the wheels rotate freely and take it for a ride, if that above doesn't help I will do one more thing i.e 10 in total brakes to warm the brakes and to skim/clean them if that doesn't help I will have to buy new brake discs. Ashame, as I like the car so much! -
Wayne, I have exact issue and posted prices on Shahpor thread, just today I got prices from Lexus garages in Scotland and they as follows: Front discs - £371.79 Front pads - £86.44 Rear Discs - £153.36 2 weeks ago I changed my rear pads at the £50 price, I did the job myself! Prices above include 10% discount. Looks like it is a common issue, I am thinking if to buy them or try what @i-s suggested in Shahpor thread, 5 times braking to warm the discs and then another 5 times braking to get rid of the uneven material on discs. Still trying to get cheaper price for the parts! Can the discs be scimmed? I have been told that the front discs are different from Premier to F-Sport, I think it is just a visual thing though!

Shahpor hi, you are lucky to get your discs and pads done for that price, I am now considering to do mine front discs and pads as the vibration during braking drives me nuts! SO I called Glasgow Lexus and got the following prices, and this is just the parts: Front Discs (pair) - £371.79!!! Front Pads (set) - £86.44!!! So I called Edinburgh Lexus and Front discs are more expensive, the pair comes is at £446!!! The pads will be the same price though. All the prices above include 10% Lexusownership discount! Rear Discs will be: £153.38 for a pair! Did you know that Front discs are different on Premier compared to F-Sport? Apparently they just look different or so Lexus Edinburgh says! How did you get that price you paid I have no idea! 🙂 -
Hi John, I am not sure the rear brakes are causing the issue but they were in much much worst (rust) conditions than a front ones and then I had that issue with rear pad shoe disintegrated from the pad also at the rear. May be it is front ones, don't know. Thanks for the advice above, I am having that grease on my wish list and most likely i will get it very soon. Funny thing is that none of the pin sliders (front or rear) were seized or tight! Just ordered a Proslip grease while writing this! lol! :)

Yesterday I have noticed the same thing i.e Lexus has to 2 clear lenses at the back and only one was lighted when my wife was reversing, I will check tomorrow if the second lense is for fog light! 🙂 -
After changing my rear brake pads 10 days ago I am still not happy with my brakes, they still vibrate or grab when brake from 40mph and above, very annoying! May be these are the discs that are faulty and not the callipers and pads? Thinking to give a call to Lexus Glasgow tomorrow to get a quote for new discs and pads! This is all strange as the car only covered 41,5k miles and visually the discs look absolutely fine and not worn! Well, lets see what Lexus has to offer! This is so annoying!

Hi Dennis, I had the same email about a week or so ago and I replied them but never heard anything back! Disappointing! My car also not in my account anymore!

Disassembled my rear brakes yesterday as vibration re-reappeared while braking from motorway speed and I felt that driver side rear brakes are warm after a drive compared to other three sides. Anyway, as soon as I removed the calliper one of the brake shoe just came off of the brake pad!!! May be this is the reason for warm brakes, luckily it was before 12am so I managed to go to Lexus Glasgow and got myself a set of brake pads for £50, I think it is not a bad price but never compared it to any other. I think the reason for shoe coming off is that when I cleaned the brakes like 3-4 months ago they were (pads) covered by rust so I used a spanner do bang them so the rust pills off and I guess the pads did not like an impact, well, I learned my lesson! No banging the pads! 🙂 Need to take the car for a proper test drive and do a few emergency stops to see how brakes perform now. I also cleaned the brakes from copper grease I used last time, especially sliding pins and regreased them with high temp melting point grease, will see how it goes. If the weather gets better might check the front callipers but they were alright last time I looked into them. Vlady

I have never had a brand new car but what a feeling it must be to sit in it for the first time, to remove all the protective films, new car smell etc! I get excited when I get a new phone I would be over the moon with the new car! :) Your car looks great, a good looking ES! Congratulations! I guess it will be a long weekend for you to wait until 12th of August! :)

My car has done 41k miles couple of days ago! :) This morning I felt that o/s rear brakes are warmer than the n/s so I checked the front ones and they were cold compared to the rear ones and this is after half an hour of driving! I would expect front ones to be warmer and rear ones to be cold! This is strange as couple of months ago I cleaned all the calipers and pads, probably need to do it again as vibration during braking also re-appeared.

DAB not very strong
Vlady replied to jpower's topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
DAB drops out happens quite often in Scotland, I would say mostly it is rubbish coverage, but when you get the coverage the sound is better than FM radio. Funnily enough some dab channels sounds better and lowder then the other. I found that in a few cars not just Lexus with ML. -
I had Kumhos on my bmw e60, was very happy with them, I think they are very good for a price, however I noticed they are getting more and more expensive. Kumho is tyre No 2 in Korea after Hankook, I think, this is what tai driver told me in Seoul once. 🙂 Falkens are alright too, had them years ago on my BMW e36, for our everyday driving they will be more than fine. Good Luck!
