@LenT sounds like a lot of money but after reading what will be done I guess it's money well spent. I was quoted £400 cash for 2-stage paint correction and ceramic coat protection, you have much more to get done to your car! If he is doing HD photos, I am sure he will do Before&After photos. I feel the same every time I service the car or after I give the car a good wash! 🙂

Tyre Recomendations
Vlady replied to Burroo 67's topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
That's probably true John, he also buys used tyres that don't last long. Still doesn't change the fact that the front axis uses rubber more than the rear. -
Tyre Recomendations

Friend of mine has an RX400h and seems like he is changing his front tyres every 2nd year and the rear ones are totally fine, I think this is just mostly a front wheel drive car which always uses more front wheels/rubber. I would get the same tyres all round too. -
Oh my God Ian! This is very raging and make me think what the government is going to do about this, if nothing is done quickly people will just move from hybrids to another cars either electric or normal ICE. I am sorry to hear that it happened to you. As you say, even if you put new ones in or even a used one what stops the thief to come back next week/month!? Not much I can advice you here but the whole situation is sad, really sad! Please keep us posted on your decision and the overall outcome. Regards

Michael I 100% agree with you, it must be a suspension if everything else is checked and adjusted correctly. I am just a little bit surprised that the Lexus that covered only 40k miles would have an issue with suspension, well, my wifes Citroen needed new anti-roll bars at 30k miles and my friends Superb needed something done in it's front suspension as there was knocking sound @20k miles, but this is Lexus we are talking about so I would never expect that but probably could easily happen so needs another proper checking. At the moment I do not travel far or often so it doesn't bother me much but if we go back to "normal" it will. I kind of trying to reprogram my brains for a fully electrical vehicle but time will tell if this will happen.

Is the Lexus brand quality still there?
Vlady replied to paulrnx's topic in Lexus General Discussions
I think Toyota is massively improving and Lexus is just getting a bit more Americans where they are (until recently) not very much bothered about interior wuality as much as us. Couple years ago I sat in brand new Camry and then next to it was Lexus ES, it was something like 10k euros (if not 11) in price between them and when you sit in Lexus (even ES) you understand why they charge more money for it, quality of materials not just better it is on a different level! Overall quality is hard to measure between Toyota and Lexus, every research though says that Lexus is still a better quality/reliability car. -

Mike, I ordered 2 as will be putting one in my wifes car. Our cars end up quite often with wet mats (I have rubber mats so water stays on top), my two girls are making sure of it with their wellies! 🙂 They still learn how to respect the car! 🙂 -
Started the car, the warning is still there and checked also the shutters, they are in open position, good I guess. Will wait for a better weather to get under there as it looks like i need to remove engine lower/bottom cover to get access to shutters to clean them and check all the electrical connections.
-
I will check later if anything got stacked in there, I doubt that as I was driving on M77 and nothing hit my car underneath but still will require checking. I agree with you, it just should be a standard simple cleaning as a maintenance procedure, as I said before I didn't even know I have these shutters other wise I would be much more gently with the pressure washer as well! At the moment it is a bit cold outside and I do not need to use the car as we have my wifes car if we need to go anywhere but these shutters need to be looked at definitely! I still can't believe that an actuator can cost £500! Unless it comes as a full assembly with the shutters!

Hi John, thanks for the link, yes I have seen it, what a clever system it is! Tbh I didn't even know the GS has active grille shutters! The last car I had this system (manual operation though) on was Soviet car Volga GAZ 24! Anyway, will be keeping my eye on this item as I am waiting for a better weather! 🙂
-
That's one clever system, isn't it? I will go outside and check in what position are mine shutters, I expect them to be in open position or half open! I still have a hope that this happened after car wash and some water droplets just got frozen and once the ambient temperature raises the issue will go away!
-
Called Lexus Glasgow, they were very surprised to hear that grille shutter is causing issues, Gary (service department) said he only dealt twice with this problem is a last few years! The bad news is that new Grille shutter actuator cost £500! I will wait for now, thank you! 🙂

Is the Lexus brand quality still there?

Last time I looked (last year) at JD Powers 10 top least reliable SUVs and 6 out of 10 were cars built by JLR! Shocking and even more shocking that people still buying them. May be when it's new and covered by warranty you can live with that many breakdowns but as a used proposal I wouldn't even poke it with the stick even though I like the look of a recent Range Rover or even a Land Rover! Hell, this is the main reason I walked away from used BMWs as I always had in a back of my mind that something will go wrong! -

Just ordered 2 bags of 1kg Keplin desiccant bags from Amazon, £25.49 at the moment. -
@Mihanicos I did twice wheel alignment at Lexus garage both times and none of them helped the matter unless I both times I got the same mechanic who doesn't know how to use hie equipment to a full potential! 🙂 As I mentioned above, a while back, even my wife's Citroen C4 (MPV) 7-seater was much more stable on motorway than the GS and C4 had very soft suspension. May be there is something in my suspension but Lexus Glasgow couldn't find a fault with it.
-
Mike welcome. I did wheel alignment couple of times and one of these times was after putting on 4 New Goodyear tyres (not a budget tyre) and the car wonder on the road, it just does not have linearity to its movement, basically if you look left or right during driving the car will change direction Slightly, Even on motorway I Always try to catch a car especially if it is a bit windy. I also had a chance to drive behind my car and noticed that the rear of the car behaved like on the waves. Lexus checked suspension and shocks and nothing is Worn (car has done at that point about 40K miles) or leaks. Yesterday I Tried to drive the car in SPORT setting which helped a bit but still not even close to other car I drove. Considering the car weights almost 2 tonnes it should behave on a motorway more like a train not a boat.
