  1. Because I was stupid enough to believe that I had a bad one and the next one would be better. Seemingly the internet is full of 300k milers and internet mechanics who think they’re the bees knees but ***** knows how unless you throw tens of thousands at one to keep it going. All I know out of 4 I had two gave pretty much constant trouble and never could make it between services without a trip to the garage to fix a problem. The one that was the best had a constant timing chain rattle and my first had a juddering gearbox. My fathers S class at 6yo gives persistent trouble and has gearbox issues at 65k, rust and all sorts of air suspension issues. I’ve experienced enough to know now never again Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Everyone I know who’s had one bar one has had no trouble with their BMW. A pal with a 320i has a timing chain let go but I had 2, numerous others have had BMW’s and they’ve not rusted or had the hassle I’ve had with Mercedes Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Across 4 I’ve owned and one my father had with 200k plus miles the following across the 5 Rust on 2 (both under 6yo) - bearing in mind one of them was £75k new Wheel bearing failure on my E claaa Collapsed suspension springs on my E class Rear air suspension failure - not great on a £75k car with 60k on the clock 3 had the 7 speed gearbox. Two had gearbox issues, the S class probably needs a new one as it’s bumping the 5 to 4 change badly Various sensor problems in all but 2 Rattling cam chain on my c class Corroded pipes for the PAS in my c class Abs and esp faults on the S class Fuel leaks in my last E class Injector failure in my E class causing misfires and EML Steering rack leak on my E class - nothing topping up the reservoir didn’t leak but the steering would randomly squeak - actually the S class does this too. All of them have had dash rattles, poor trim etc Smelly aircon in the S and my last E class Manifold and swirl flap motor failure on my e class Flaking paint on my e class Juddering in my E220 - likely a torque converter was on its way out Don’t believe the forums and myths where people say these are reliable dependable cars. They’re really bad Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I’ve had more Mercedes than anything else and they’ve been good to drive but expensive and troublesome to own. I’d have a Volvo, Toyota, Kia or BMW Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  6. Still there last time I was there - 5 years back Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Blakey Ridge - North Yorkshire. You’d love it 🙂 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Or anywhere that isn’t urban :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. My 2p worth. There are many more dull fwd cars than dull RWD. Sure a fwd chassis can be epic and a rwd one can be a pig. Usually a north south mounted engine, back wheel drive usually produces a nice car to drive and that cannot be be said for a transverse mount front drive. You don’t have to drive like a tool to feel the difference-to appreciate the steering, the balanced feel etc etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I’ve got the gs250 and love it. I’ll keep it a while as it’ll be, unless I get the GSF, the last car with an interesting drivetrain I’ll have. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. There’s life outside London. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Get the V8 - you only live once
  13. Lack of knowledge I suspect. Are you going for the RCF. I hope you are if I had the money I so would Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. This sounds harsh but I don’t give a rats ***** about the safety of a pedestrian or animal that strays into my path. I care about my own and I want my cars safety system to be fully optimised to protect me, not some **** animal or dopey ****** who steps out in front of me. Most people I suspect feel the same. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I’d be ok with the 200t but I’d be wrong to say I wouldn’t want the 3.5 Edit just me or do they both look like they could do with more underbody protection? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I’m really happy that hybrid owners like the way they drive and that they’re reliable too. No one says they shouldn’t be offered but more conventional drive trains can and should be offered too. It would open the marque to more people Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Just tap the paddle 4 times...hardly exhausting ;) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. I think the gs250 does gear hunt a bit - maybe it’s my driving style and our unique roads here in NW Scotland - driving it in M mode makes a better drive. I’d rather it just had 3 pedals and a H pattern shift but I’m quite unique in not minding to change gear myself - even in an expensive car. The AA80 box will be better than the a960e and taking manual control over it or using kickdown will solve the issues - or if they’d offered the car with a manual (sorry but I still think I’d choose a MT over an AT in an IS or RC type car) would solve the issue. 19. Maybe - but the cars have such a good “chassis” in terms of steering/braking and a well judged ride/handling that errs towards sporting that bigger engines would fit in well. And the diehards would come Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. If the car had the 350 petrol engine minus the batteries and £5k less they would sell. At this price bracket buyers are enthusiastic about cars - and are more likely to be enthusiasts in some shape or form otherwise they’d buy a Toyota, VW, Skoda or something more mass market and non premium. Given the cost of the cars - these are bought by wealthy people who by and large tend to be older - few young people can afford an expensive car so catering to older buyers is good, wise and right. If older buyers want 6 and 8 clyinder engines - then that is what they should have. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. There is a gaping hole but you’re better with a car that’s over powered rather than under powered. In size wise it’s no less practical than an RC300h - arguably more so as it’s got a bigger boot due to not having the hybrid battery. The v8 engine and gearbox in that car is extremely reliable - google issues with the ISF and there’s just so few. The fuel consumption and servicing costs will be more but you are getting a premium performance car in return. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Just buy an RCF and be happy. There’s nothing not to like about one of those Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Yeah - heard this - over in three weeks but cannot wait. 80k is bang on 50 and the autoroute is still 130k at least Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. I got a life time ban from there :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Once that becomes reality - and the battery cope with this for 200k miles combustion engines will be dead - and with good reason. They’ll be matched in all present ways plus have the refinement and performance bested. Don’t see it happening - remember the Karma - they had a habit of catching fire Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
