  1. Agree totally and the best bit is my GS gives a Merc S class like ride but the wizards in Japan have engineered it so well it will comfortable out handle an E class and even a C. It’s an unexpected shock to revel in what is actually a good “drivers” car that’s as comfortable as this. I too have come to appreciate the “American” way. They get Toyotas, Hondas and Nissans you’d actually want. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. All Lexus cars are designed from America. The way they “bong” when the doors left open, the resolute resistance to fit a diseasal engine etc. The range over there is massive. We don’t get the LX or GX SuV, they get lots more engines in the model like. New ES350 for instance, IS, RC, GS350 with 4wd or rear drive. The new LS can be had with a 10spd 3.0 twin turbo non hybrid there. It’s an amazing range we don’t get to get. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I find the mouse totally easy and intuitive to use. I’m right handed. It’s easy. The GS is simply by far the best car you can buy today. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. It's a nice car they have - lovely colour scheme inside and out. If I hadn't bought my car - I would buy their car.
  5. When you see a waterfall though, you see it as a flow rather than lots of droplets. _DSC3877 by Stephen Taylor, on Flickr This is actually with a 2.5 stop ND and a 2.5 stop soft edged grad filter. You can go crazy with ten stops but anything between 1/8th and 2 secs gives flow but also texture. Beyond that it goes too milky. Retaining that flow brings the scene to life - if it was too defined it would look odd. This was just with an soft edged grad for the sky - 1/6th so nice and chunky texture to the flow, but still a flow to capture the drama and feel of the falls. _DSC3054 by Stephen Taylor, on Flickr I am not a huge long exposure guy but you can use them to make the shot look, and feel dreamy. _DSC9398 Version 2 by Stephen Taylor, on Flickr Compared to this (the sea was doing nothing anyway) _DSC1408 by Stephen Taylor, on Flickr Still texture here but in reality it was dusky. _DSC9422 by Stephen Taylor, on Flickr Or this _DSC0169 by Stephen Taylor, on Flickr Matching the exposure for the mood of the shot is crucial. The way the water does, or doesn't move in your picture can hugely alter the mood and feeling of your picture. 6. It's no secret I despise this time of year and find precious little to motivate me through the winter months. I decided to reprocess some shots from the Torren Lochan from July 2017. My tastes have changed a little since then so I thought I'd give the RAW files a fresh look. This was probably the best ever evening I have had here. _DSC0794 by Stephen Taylor, on Flickr _DSC0815 by Stephen Taylor, on Flickr This will be the last thread I post until 2019 so I hope you all have a great new year.
  7. Whoah, ok, not paying that. Would pay £8k for it and pocket the difference. I still would prefer a newer, facelifted car. I think I should hold out and buy one of the last ones in a couple of years. I don't really want an older car than the one I have.
  8. Its a cheap thing to replace, I would just get on and fit it.
  9. That will be harder as time goes on, Lexus are determined to sell hybrids wherever they can and have phased out a lot of non hybrid model lines. Now you cannot buy an IS, RX, NX, ES (GS replacement) and LS (2018 on) without a hybrid. I am not against them per se, but a conventional drivetrain appeals more to me.
  10. My S80 was truly wonderful, until the gearbox (an Aisin unit) crapped out. Shame as it really was a wonderful car, not as nice as my GS but definitely a nicer car than the W212 E class I replaced it with. There was a guy on there who bought a new D4 XC60 that kept having EGR cooler issues - was that you?
  11. I know, I really like my GS as it is but I know this I would like even more. Problem is I hardly ever drive the GS, I have a battered old RAV4 I go everywhere in over the winter months. Hmmm, autotrader, too much time on me hands...
  12. Try the Mercedes forums. Plenty of agro on them. Here is an oasis of calm, easily the calmest forum I have ever been on. The Volvo forum was better and on the whole the owners thought highly of their cars. I would certainly have another.
  13. https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201812123213416 Tempted as it looks like a garage queen, lovely low milage so the car will be totally fresh. My concern is the age, it's over 10yrs old but it's clearly been loved. I just am not sure if going from a 13 plate GS to a 07 reg LS is a wise move.
  14. Out of 4 mercs two gave me a serious amount of headaches and issues ranging for rust, failing suspension springs, more rust, lots of engine warning lights, manifold issues etc. My Rav4 which I inherited has given me no hassle nor has my Lexus.
  15. Anyone going to order one?
  16. The GS has been discontinued for the ES - a transverse mount FWD car. That won't lend itself to an F variant. The IS F is a good idea, performance cars are suited for a longitudinal RWD platform generally speaking. It also will fit in the engine bay as the RC is heavily based on the IS - certainly a modified version of the BMW supra engine would go in and maybe the twin turbo V6 the American markets get. There will be an LC-F I imagine. Competition wise an RCF cannot be that different to a C63 to drive - broadly similar sizes and power and Mercs are heavy cars
  17. Hopefully not but it is well documented on the US forums. Out of so many cars on this forum: I've had one done and now you have. I suspect it is something that will fail. So far I've had no other issues with my car but it's only a 2013 with 45k miles on it.
  18. Currently doing a massive back up of my drives and came across this. I had originally planned to make this into a B&W and I did - not very well but it was my intention so I focused all my attention to it. I hastily processed this and actually - I think this is the one. _DSC1758 by Stephen Taylor, on Flickr I am kicking myself for not heading over there on Thursday or Friday. There was some epic sunrises and the metal would have picked it up well. Here is one from last year but the two I missed looked better. _DSC2279 (1) by Stephen Taylor, on Flickr
  19. I haven’t driven one but a c63 is probably barely 50kg lighter and a I bet an S5 or RS5 is just as heavy. An M4 might be lighter but it’s by no means the only competition to an RCF. Certainly someone looking at an 840d, E53amg or such like might consider an RCF and find the cars quite comparable price and mass wise. An RCF is a small grand tourer - maybe a sports coupe but not a sports car. It’s not pretending to be. I don’t disagree with the comments re the NAV as that applies to all Lexus/Toyota models but they still remain one of the most trouble free performance cars on the market. 20. Mine had that problem and it is well known - the replacement spiral cable/clock spring assembly totally fixes it.

  22. I’ve got good year efficient grips and mine does it and has done it with 4mm on the tread. It’s the way the steering geometry is set and there is no way whatsoever it can be completed got rid of. Low tread, cold weather will exacerbate the characteristic Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Strangely that’s why I prefer the factory navs which keep you on main routes rather than tread you down some narrow kamikaze route to save 2mins I’ll stick to main routes for as long as humanly possible. My old tom Tom would pick the shortest, most awful routes imaginable to save barely 5 mins on a four hour journey Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. What can beat a sunset in the mountains? Well one where it is reflected giving you two for the price of one. Here are two from Lac du Miey (the second of the Lac D'Ayous along the GR10) which perfectly mirror the awesome view of Pic D'Midi D'Ossau _DSC4106 by Stephen Taylor, on Flickr _DSC4132 by Stephen Taylor, on Flickr
  25. I can assure you that they’re corse and unrefined. The figures prove it. My experiences are that a golf is no better made, no better to drive, no more refined or comfortable than any other car in that segment. They’re lousy cheap cars with a hefty price tag. Strangely the 5 series F10 is a very quiet car, road noise wise. Engine is coarse but rolling refinement is deeply impressive - which the findings show. Not tried an LS.
