  1. No, that looks pretty clean, but don't forget the gauze filter in the trunking
  2. Here’s mine Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Ive got the same one Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. My mpg dropped by about 10mpg and I noticed that the hybrid battery was discharging quicker. I average 40/50,000 miles a year, most of that is town driving as well. After 2.5 years it might be worth having a look, if nothing else you get peace of mind. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I have a next base unit in my 300h, I bought it from Halfords for £89 and paid another £15 for the hardwire fitting kit. Then spent 30 minutes wiring it in, it was a doddle. Ok so it doesnt have Lexus on it, but I have £175 in my pocket, and I know which one I would prefer 😉
  6. I love the look of the car, all my customers compliment it and say how different it looks from many other cars out there. I like the way it handles, my drive home is across Dartmoor and rain or shine I have the confidence to throw it about a bit. The economy, nothing comes close to it. The features, mines only the SE spec but is so well specced for the money when compared to German counterparts. What I don't like.......Lexus, I find them difficult to deal with and frustrating and as a result this will most likely be my first and last Lexus sadly
  7. I know that I do an excessive amount of mileage. but I have noticed that every 6 months (20K miles) my 300h starts to drop its economy, every time so far it has been the same reason.....the hybrid fan filter is getting blocked. Ive now become a bit of an expert on doing this now, and Ive no doubt that there are a few DIY mechanics who like to look over their own car. If you are doing your own servicing the please include this in your annual check. Tools: 2 x flat ended screwdrivers Pliers 10mm socket and ratchet The fan assembly is located on the right hand side rear inner wing, its all accessible via the boot, but you have to remove the inner panel in order to get at the fan and filter. First remove the false floor, then remove the tool tray below the false floor, there are 6 self expanding clips (3 on each side), in order to remove them prise out the centre with a flat ended screwdriver. lift the tool tray out, this will reveal another 3 of these clips that hold the carpet into the rear of the boot, these need to be removed as well the looking at the right side boot trim there are two load restraints that need to be removed, they are held in place with a 10mm bolt, this is hidden. in order to get at the bolt you need to prise the plastic cover away with a screwdriver Undo the 10 mm bolts and remove the restraints. Looking at the right hand inner boot panel there are 3 trim clips that hold the panel to the car, they are 'spined' and need to be prised out. you can see the 3 holes in the picture. With these out the last piece to be removes is the plastic threshold trim, this has another 3 of the spined clips that are used on the inner trim panel. Once they are removed the panel requires a sharp pull as there are 6 clips attached to the threshold trim that need to be released from the body. Now you can pull/bend the inner trim back to reveal the fan assembly and trunking for the air duct the black trunking that runs from the fan to the hybrid battery is held in place with 2 self expanding clips, again prise the centre pin out and the pull the clip out in order to remove the trunking. The motor is held in place with 2x10mm bolts and 1x10mm nut There is also a multiplug that will need to be disconnected in order to remove the fan assembly from the car. Once removed you then have access to the trunking that has the filter in it With the motor out of the way the trunking is held in place by a tag at the bottom of the trunking that locates on a plastic pin, a sharp pull will see it come free. and this is what you may find!! Full of fluff and crud, with a vacuum cleaner give this a good clean, then clean the motor. The vanes will be fill of dirt and crud as well, with an airline blow this all out (watch your eyes as there will be a lot of dust) Cleaned out Putting it all back together is the reverse this, however when reconnecting the fan motor please make sure the connectors go back together with a solid 'CLICK' if they don't and the pins haven't made good connection you will get a 'check hybrid' error message, once the fan motor and trunking is in place and before I have built up the interior trim I normally turn the ignition on so as to check that everything is in order. Hope that helps
  8. Thanks for your help, im just trying to get a windows laptop now so I can download tech stream. Its a shame Lexus are like they are, I was looking at trading the IS in later in the year for a GS300h but it doesn't look like that will happen now sadly, and there's nothing in the Toyota lineup currently that really floats my boat
  9. Lexus have told me that because my car is being used as a taxi they will not warranty the car nor will they allow me to have a warranty via the health check. The 3 previous Prius I have were welcomed by Toyota and there was never an issue with warranties even through they were taxis but Lexus are a different kettle of fish I have cleaned out the fan assembly this afternoon and also the filter in the trunking, it ran for a while and now has the error message “check hybrid system” I’ve been over all the connections, the fan is spinning and stops when the ignition is off. I can’t purge any trouble codes out of the car The fuel consumption over the last few days has dropped through the floor and it feels very sluggish on the battery, it is cycling from full charge to empty quite quickly as well. I’ve checked the 12v battery and that’s holding charge when under load. The cars only done 107,000 miles that’s why I’m surprised it’s giving me issues Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. As the title says, does anyone know of any reliable obd software for iOS that will allow me to interrogate the cells on a hybrid battery? I want to see what the individual voltages are on each cell as I believe I have one or two that are weakening my hybrid battery currently. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I have a 63 plate 300h that’s just done 106000 miles, 50k of that in the last 12 months. So far the only odd issue I had was the hybrid fan vent was blocked and caused a battery overheating message to appear on the dash. Cleaning the hybrid fan and filter out soon put that right. Check your o/s chassis leg just between the air box and the back of the front light, some owners have found a bit of rust on the chassis leg in this area Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I’ve had a 300h for the last year and in that time clocked up about 50,000miles. My wife has an E61 525d with the 3.0d engine in it and i have frequently compared the two even though they are not really in the same size category The 300h drives like a rwd car, the hybrid side of it doesn’t change the way it handles or feels on the road, I would says it feels a bit more nimble than the E61, the steering is more precise and agile. Torque, you won’t have to worry too much about that, the electric motor provides more than enough of that, so combined with the engine it can more than happily hold its own there, if the battery is in a low state of charge then you do find it is using the engine more than the battery, but once it has recharged it is business as normal. I find I have to adopt a slight different driving style when driving the Lexus, whilst it has the torque and power the CVT gearbox does take a little adapting to, if you floor it when on the move it will get up and go but will also generate a lot of revs and noise which I’m not always keen on Fit and finish is every bit as good as the BMW, my Lexus IS the base model and still has more toys than my wife’s business model E61 Economy, I use mine as a taxi, around town I am between 48 and 52 mph, on a run (75mph motorways) I’m close to 60mph with the air on on and at least 2 adults in the car. The 6 cylinder of the BMW is an impressive engine, moving to a Lexus you will have to accept that it won’t be as smooth or will make that lovely noise. But those bits aside I would say the 300h is fair competition for the 3 series Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. This is now beginning to stump me, and wiring isn't something that gets the better of me normally. I have checked Lexus and Toyota Tech and neither of them have the wiring codes on a rear view mirror that this one has, however the part number on the back is listed for an RCF/Prius/Camry. Continuity tests show the black and brown wires are the only ones that have continuity, that normally indicates live and earth. The wiring diagram I have from Lexus tech lists the connections as follows: Blue - switched power Pink - constant live (only for uses with garage opener) Violet - Earth White - Door Mirrors Light Green - Door mirrors any ideas? I am totally stumped now
  14. finally got a mirror from Ebay, from a 2010 ISF. Im slightly stuck on the pinouts on the mirror, I have 5 wires, they are Black Mid brown Light Brown light grey Dark grey I have figured that of those 5 there is a live, earth, what looks like a switched live and two wires that connect to the door mirrors. I've grabbed a screenshot from Lexus tech, and it shows the 5 connections. and the wiring from the mirror Any help would be most grateful rear view mirroe wiring .pdf
  15. If the claim was for just disc and pads then I would agree. However Lexus warranted a faulty calliper, they can’t honestly say that this item didn’t cause the premature wear of the discs and pads. If they are trying to say that then they live in la la land Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Reading this does only serve to prove that Lexus are refusing more and more warranty claims, even when there may be good cause for a claim. In the long term it will not give Lexus a good reputation, they have always had a positive reputation regarding customer service, incidents like this will only serve to erode that. 30k miles and a seizure on a calliper is unusual, imho they should have offered a contribution on the wearable items as the discs may have had another 60k in them Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Had a phone call from the dealers today, Lexus Japan have decided that they will not warrantee the vehicle. So I questioned what they meant by that statement and quite literally Lexus have withdrawn the warranty on my car as it is being used as a taxi. So, I have a five year old car with no body corrosion warranty and no warranty on the hybrid battery or drivetrain even though it’s recently had a hybrid help chat. Toyota on the other hand will happily honour any warranty but they keep with their vehicles if it is being used as a taxi. When I pointed this out I was told that Lexus policy is different from Toyota. And the final kicker that the dozen dealer delivered was that Lexus could sell me a taxi warranty that would cover my vehicle if I chose to spend the money I told them very politely but neither myself nor my vehicle would be darkening the door ever again Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Another month has passed and still Lexus have done very little with this [emoji35] Spoke to the dealers today, because it’s non cosmetic the warranty claim is being referred to Japan for authority. I must admit I was very surprised by this but have to believe what I’m being told by the dealers. I spent many years in dealerships within their workshops and have never know such a long, drawn out process for something that appears to be quite simple to resolve. My next step is to try and talk direct to Lexus GB and see if they can shed any light on this. However I don’t hold out much hope there Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Vauxhall will if you go through their customer services dept at head office Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. It’s that mentality of, take your money once and then keep taking it again and again. I’ve dealt with Toyota for years and their customer service knocks Lexus’s into a cocked hat. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Don’t worry at 165 plus vat I will not be buying from Lexus, The “self entitled” view you speak of was the price quoted on their website based upon my part number in the SD card Off to ebay for my maps I think Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. No mention of Lexus in any of the copyright info Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. £165 plus vat for an updated disk.....that’s a rip off. That’s like paying £17.50 per litre for petrol, and at that price I would fill up and drive off I don’t know where they get their prices from, it only gives more evidence that this will be my first and last Lexus Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Sadly I’ve seen that before, messages about sat nav maps and other digital content on non gen media get deleted pretty rapidly Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. And the first sign of a downhill stretch get off the throttle and let the battery recharge Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
