My Last MOT mentioned the play in the joints, i managed to get 2 genuine Toyota ball joints from the stealers in Bristol, at around £45 each, i also bought the track rod ends for about the same as i knew that a ball joint splitter would damage the rubber gaitor. From what I gather, the MOT testers raise the car slightly on the ramp with their jack, and wobble the wheel to detect any play in the joints.

If its any use, ive got around 120k on mine at the mo on original clutch and it is juddering slightly when cold, which is quite common (from reading this forum), but its all down to the cars history and life etc

i know how annoying it can be, kids roun here seem to put them on their bike! i used to tighten them with some pliers or a small spanner, im tempted to get some anti-tamper ones, just to annoy the little sh1ts!

I had mine fitted a while back it wasnt from the same seller -
a pic if thats any use?
Cheers Rakeshtak for the pic,
It looks great, but who did you get it off please and how much and when and etc...... :D

mine was from a seller in the states and was about the same price, i mean that thats what it would look like. ive probabaly had it over 2 years, so could not find theseller's ID, but im sure the ones in taiwan are the same, its worth looking at eBay USA too.
Slightly off topic, its good to see another environmentally pocket friendly IS200 on LPG!

Hello to all!
I own a 1999 Lexus IS200 and I am thinking on converting it to run on LPG. I have been reading that toyota engines have a problem with the valves when the engine runs on LPG, making the valves and the seat valves to wear much faster.
I also read that there is a special lubrificant that prevent this to happen, it's called FlashLube. http://www.flashlube.com.au/store/
Does anyone here have a IS200 converted to run on LPG? If so, I would like to know if you had FlashLube(or other) installed and if you had any problems with the valves.
Also, if possible, I would like to know some things:
Mileage on LPG
Miles done after LPG instalation
LPG system(brand name)
LPG tank size
Thank you all!
Hi, I had my IS200 converted about 18 mths ago with teething issues at the start but all seem ok now, i still havent got round to installing flashlube as yet, but it is recommended. My LPG installer didnt seem to think it needed it as it gets lubricated when starting on Petrol, but id rather be safe than sorry!

i had a romano system fitted over a year ago, i have covered approx 25 k with a few hiccups, now all sorted. took a while to get running right as the Romano system can be quite fussy. there is a slight power loss when runing on LPG, and also a dip in MPG but if you want a short boost, simply flick to Petrol at the touch of a button!
lpg is just under 40pence a litre in Bristol, a full tank costs me around 19 quid and i gt around 240 miles out of it, so excluding wear and tear, it costs me just under 8p per mile in fuel.
hope this helps!

following on from my previous post, I have been told that the lower ball joints are worn. I have had a look around LOC USA and found the following article for an LS400 to replace them:
http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=18208
Has anyone done a bit of DIY with theirs, and is it a similar setup for the IS200?
The steering does feel loose at times, does anyone know how much they can take before failing? ( i suppose thats like asking how long a piece of string is!) the garage just said they need replacing, but didnt make any notes to suggest it was dangerous or anything,
Thanks in advance.

It looks like Royal Sapphire Blue to me, same as mine, it might have very slightly faded compared to the new paint on your grille?

Hi all, im looking for a bit of advice(ive tried searching etc).
Does anyone know where I can get the geometry of my IS200 checked and adjusted in the Bristol area? I went to Pro Tyre in Bristol for some replacement tyres due to inner wear. They did a 4 wheel alignment but said that the inner tyre wear is due to the car being lowered and nothing can be done. After reading some of your posts, I know that you guys have successfully managed to get it sorted. If there is nowhere local, I think a trip to Wheels in Motion might be needed!
Thanks for any advice.

I had mine converted back in April, LPG is fairly available at aroud 30-35p a litre around here so it made sense. had some teething problems at first but they were sorted out straight away. a bit of power loss, but if i want some poke, i switch back to petrol :D

Apologies if the wrong section!
I know of someone looking for anyone selling a dashboard, centre console etc for a project. Thanks in advance.
-
cheers for that guys, i obviously didnt look hard enough :D

Hi, Ive tried searching but no luck, for thse with 18 or 19 inch rims, what size tyres are you guys using? TIA
-
i know what you mean about increases, LPG is 29.9 down this way ;)
-
i suppose it would make sense as you would get more airflow at a guess

hi, i am doing the same for mine at the moment, and have the same problem with the seats, i cannot adjust them as I havent the cables!
I tried connecting the seat belt sensor to the seat electrics but this probably did not produce enough power!
is it worth running a wire from another source there? i appreciate any advice!

lots of people interested too, and no ones bought, must be a stunner! :D

hi guys, well, my Lex has been off the road for nearly 2 weeks, had a gearbox issue with the internal linkage - bit surprised as there is 94k on clock and its 4 1/2 years old - i have a warranty with another company and they will only pay half, but i want my car back so will probably pay it.
im curious to know if anyone else has had similar issues? cheers
