I agree. I don't think I've seen one reviewer who says they like the CVT..The same reviewers who feel the need to compare every car with those made in Germany. .I drove a Civic Hybrid for nearly five years with a CVT, and now the is300h. I have no complaints with it at all.

My first Ford was a MKIII Cortina....That was an absolute pile of Poo. The one I use for running around locally now, is the BMax Powershift.... The problems with the Powershift are well documented. Apart from that, it's had a number of niggling faults. When it's working well it's a decent little run around. Fords are not generally known for their reliability, but the dealer is only a couple of hundred yards from home, so not too far to go to bang on the counter.

That may well be the case. It depends on how clever the computer is.

If there are cameras about, I go by the speed indicated on on my Garmin sat nav. Which isn't much help when for instance when going through road works where there are 50mph average speed cameras, and a long line of cars doing 45mph. Then again, by and large I keep to the speed limits. It lets me concentrate on my driving, rather than constantly having to look for cameras, or unmarked police cars. None of my journeys are so important that it matters what time I arrive at my destination.

I'm glad you said that and not me. I was told that was a fallacy. 😄😁🤣 😁 It is a fact though, that every speedo on every car indicates that you are going faster than you actually are. Assuming the car hasn't been modified in any way. This is done deliberately, and complies with regulations......This video explains how it works in Australia and the US. It's similar here.

Having previously owned two Accords and a Civic Hybrid, I would love another Honda. Next year they are bringing out a CRV and a Jazz hybrid. The Jazz is too small and I don't do 4x4 tonka toys. My other car is presently a BMax, but I would definately not buy another Ford. I wouldn't go for any German made car, so possibly a Mazda.

Getting a little off topic, but hey. In my experience, a lot of problems are caused by people trying to establish the pecking order when driving. The cars most likely to be tailgating are big German cars, or big 4x4s. Very rarely do I get another Lexus on my rear bumper unless it's a 4x4 variant. It's as if people are saying "My car is bigger and more expensive than yours, therefore I should be in front of you ".... even if it means breaking the speed limit by a considerable amount.

Believe it or not, but I can assure you that in my case it's true. Of course there are time when we need to put our foot down to overtake. I have a friend who says his car has got him out of trouble many times because of it's acceleration. Although the way he drives, he tends to often get into damgerous situations more often than most.

In about 50yrs of motoring 0 - 60 times have never been a consideration for me. I drive within my, and my cars limitations.

Show that you have done some research into the company you wish to work for. Look up their history etc.

I had a similar problem with an exhaust shield on an Accord. It made a hell of a noise, but onle at certain revs.

No, Lexus wouldn't do it. This was from a local shop who install radios, cameras etc

Lexus as first car, like others I think not ? If you buy an older model privately, maintenance cost could be high. It of course depends on why you want to buy him a Lexus. Is it because as you already have one, and your son likes it, that's what he wants ? Or is it (hopefully not) to impress friends and neighbours so you can say.... "look what car my son has". Although you would lose brownie points on that unless he had bought it himself. I have friends who try to engratiate themselves by the achievements of their children.........Not trying to be rude or cynical, but that's the way of the world, I've seen it so many times. In the end though, you will make your own choice, irrespective of what advice you are given

Have you checked the voltage on the battery with the engine running ? It should be about 14 volts (if it's like any other car)

I think I know what you are getting at 🙂 I love driving my Lexus, for all sorts of reasons. I also like our Ford BMax, which although a year older, has a lot of features the Lexus lacks. When I drive the ford it's like putting on my favourite cardigan, it just fits ! When I drive the Lexus it's like wearing a dinner suit, it makes me feel different, and I drive accordingly.

Sounds brake pad related. Does it happen when driving in straight line or when cornering. ? I'm sure someone on here will know. Some of the bigger Citroens had a terrible problem with squeaky brakes.

Congratulations. We bought ours in April, and are very pleased with it. Although I didn't realize there was such a range of specs for the IS300h.
