    I don't have this on mine, but probably not a bad thing to have, to avoid obstructions the sensors might not pick up. I high kerb for instance.

    A good idea, although there are already a lot of videos already available on YouTube covering various aspects of different cars. The only problem may be that there are usually variations within a particular model of car. Something you find when looking through the manual.

    The only thing I use the voice function on my BMax for, is when selecting tracks from the USB stick. It might be handy when using the navigation in the IS though ?

    Thanks. Only having just bought the car, I have a years warranty anyway. I shall weigh up the options next year.

    What's the period of your warranty ?

    You did well to get that work done under an extended warranty. A lot won't cover much more than the engine and transmission. With most of the other bits coming under "fair wear and tear"

    One of the reasons to use your air-con all the year round, not just in the summer. Some people never turn it off.

    To be fair, most cars today are pretty reliable. Although makers such as Nissan and Daewoo made a lot of European car manufacturers think again. They used to make a lot of money by getting people to buy the extras when purchasing a new car. Air-Con was always an extra, so were alloy wheels. Along with a whole host of items which were included as standard on cars made in the Far East.

    I am more of a Garmin person. Navigating to a postcode is usually OK, unless you are in London, or any other big city I guess. The Sat-Navs can get totally confused.

    There could be, and probably are a number of reasons for that. One being that the over 50's have more disposable income for spending on luxuries, such as expensive cars ? They are more likely to have inherited money from parents or relations, or have very good pensions. They aren't worried about the badge on the front, or how quickly their car will get to 60mph. They just want a comfortable reliable car.

    I had my renewal notice last week from the Co-op, they wanted £492. I have changed to AA, they quoted £300.

    Was this the warranty when you bought the car, or an extended warranty ?

    I've thought about this myself, will think again after the 1 year warranty expires. You do have to look at what the extended warranty covers, and what it doesn't..As far a I am aware, items like shock absorbers come under "wear and tear" and wouldn't be covered. In general Lexus engines and transmissions are pretty bomb proof, so you have to work out you will be covering yourself for.

    I'm of a similar opinion. I believe a lot has been written about the lexus Sat-Nav. Personally I find it pretty awful I would rather use my Garmin .

    Before we bought our 2015 is300 recently, I looked at quite a number of reviews. What struck me, was that nearly all of the Auto "experts" compared the Lexus to BMWs, Mercedes and Audis. Having owned a Civic hybrid for a number of years, without any major issues, I wanted to stick with Japanes made reliability. Something which most reviewers seemed to overlook. Also to a man (or woman) they didn't like the CVT gearbox, again something I've never had an issue with. Why this obsession with comparing every car with German makes ?

    Thanks for the additional answers chaps. It's a bit of a steep learning curve :) Getting there slowly though. We had our first decent run out today. Covering 85 miles it indicated 51mpg, which isn't bad considering it was up and down hill on "A" roads. I did notice a fair bit of road noise, depending on the type of road surface. Probably down to the fairly low profile tyres ?

    Thanks for the replies. On a similar subject, this is the first car I've had with paddles on the steering wheel. I'm still not exactly sure what they do.

    I'm sure this question has been asked before, but I couldn't find it on a search. I have only recently purchased a 2015 IS 300h with just over 21,000 miles on the clock. I was wondering what sort of fuel consumption I should expect ? It won't be used for driving around town, shopping etc, mostly for longer runs. I am not a foot to the floor boy racer. On my previous car (Civic Hybrid) I would get just over 50mpg on a run, and something like 38 around town. I've seen a figure of 60mpg quoted for the IS, but that sound optimistic.

    Please excuse my ignorance chaps, but I was under the impression that it wasn't necessary to polish modern cars these days. As they were coated with a glaze finish. Although this may be an option which not everyone takes up, due to cost ? I had this on my previous Civic hybrid, and never polished it.

    Thanks Vlad. Yes the system on my Ford BMax works quite well. That makes me feel a lot better by not having the function :)

    Thanks for reply anyway. I also have a Ford BMax as a runaround car. That has a limited voice recognition function, which I only really use for selecting tracks on my USB stick.

    I have recently bought a 2015 is300h Executive.. I was a bit miffed to find it doesn't have speech recognition. Only the ability to us voice tags for phone. It's not something I would use a lot, but is handy for choosing music tracks, if nothing else. I wonder, would it be a software upgrade to get it, or is it more involved ?
