  1. I've only done 500 miles in mine so far. Must try harder. Funny, my school teachers used to say that a lot.
  2. I have this little one which inhabits my garage, only comes out to play in the summer months.
  3. I got the Porsche bug a few years back. 1st was a lovely cobalt blue Cayman S 987. It felt special every time I drove it. 2nd a Boxter S 981, then a Macan GTS for the missus. I was so in love with the Porsche product I got the green light from the missus to have a brand new Cayman 718. We went to Porsche Cambridge to see Don, it was meant to be a very special day, custom speccing/ordering a new Cayman which I planned to keep forever. Until I heard it start. I instantly decided they'd ruined a special car, it didn't sound like a Porsche should. So I left disappointed and confused as to why they'd changed the engine. Bought a new TTRS instead, I wouldn't say that sounded glorious, more like very angry. But as the OP says, it made me feel like a kid again.
  4. Paul, it seems we have some things in common. Although my Transit hasn't been very busy of late lol
  5. Just a quick note to lighten the thread. I'm looking forward to driving the Rcf tomorrow after a month of sorn. Not sure I could ever feel the same about an electric car.
  6. My two pence. The biggest crooks out there don't even wear masks anymore. Whatever happens the government will extract every penny out of it, all in the name of saving our planet etc..... These smart motorways that government are saying is all about safety? Pull the other one, they wouldn't be spending all that money upgrading to smart motorways in the interest of our safety. Pay per mile will soon be here, and a very nice sideline with a great income will be zero tolerance speeding detection. If they phase out petrol they lose a massive income from fuel duty, so it'll have to go back on, and it will. Electric cars won't be the cheap option everyone thinks it will be. So back on topic, sorry for the rant. I don't think they'll phase out petrol, not while they are making 80% in fuel duty. So I say more than 20 years. And I'll be happy if I'm still around to be proved wrong.
  7. My guess is that they are just trying for a high price to begin with? Dealers will often try to push prices up when they have a rare car, so as you say, they'll probably be able to do a deal if someone shows an interest. Also there's the power of a forecourt. Some people will just buy a car of a forecourt without doing any internet research, simply if the car looks nice. I think the ISF's are a lovely bit of kit, it wouldn't surprise me if values did firm up a bit. Have Lexus been getting more publicity lately on youtube, car forums etc? This can create more awareness and desire and help with residuals?
  8. 30 thousand? Will it sell for that? Looks like they're holding value well if it does. Makes my Rcf look like a bargain.
  9. In the old days if someone got so clearly ripped of like this the punter would get some very scary friends together to go and see the dealer and politely encourage said dealer to refund the customer. I miss the old days.
  10. My friend has a Golf R that he's just had remapped. One word. Awesome.
  11. 0-60 times used to be a fair guide to how quick a car was. Not any more. 4wd, and clever launch controls, have given many cars a fast 0-60, but midrange is similar to many other cars that are slower to 60 So it's not that important to me as I'm too old for racing people away from the lights. Good pub bragging rights though, and this will continue to sell cars.
  12. It's such a shame, I got all excited back when I heard they were coming out in RHD, I so wanted one with a loud exhaust. Lots of modifications available for them also. C'mon Ford, surely you can knock a bodyshell together that doesn't corrode within 2/3 years? Maybe the newer ones are better?
  13. Wow, an M760. I didn't even know they made one. I've loved every M car I've driven, nearly went M2 instead of my TTRS I haven't driven a newish M3 or M4 yet, I only went Rcf as I have to have a rare car, there were only 166 TTRS's in the UK when I got mine. I'm not sure how you'd choose between the above two? At 100k and 148k I'd be too concerned about the depreciation I think. My motto of "we only live once" might not work with the missus on those ones lol. I think if I was spending 100k it'd have to be an R8 V10 plus, they are down from 150k with good spec to 100k now. I can't see them dropping much below 70k ever now, as soon one won't be able to buy such a car. I read about the new Mustang bullet edition today 47k, my cheque book is wobbling, just a shame about the build quality, seen too many late Stangs with rust bubbles. My next expensive toy will be 60k on an R8 V10 manual in convertible form. Now the new ones are DSG only I reckon the last of the manuals will hold value, or nearly, just have to find one that's been garaged over winter as they suffer with corroded oil pipes etc... with age. Too many nice cars out there, we are so so lucky at the moment, in 5 years time will we be able to buy such cars new? I think maybe not.
  14. There's a lot going for the older, cheaper, lightweight cars. You can get a really lovely example for £4000 to £6000 and they aren't loosing heaps in value. Mx5's can rust really badly so need careful buying, but I keep coming across Z3's that have been garages all of their lives. For me the best thing is driving something back to basics, no computers to learn, simple controls, road noise, a raw feeling that modern cars just don't have, it's actually really refreshing. Buying a lovely holiday home and leaving a roadster there sounds like a great idea, you've got me thinking now lol I love my rcf as a luxury GT car, but I love my other toys also and they give me just as much enjoyment but in other ways. Just as a few have said here, ideally we all need three cars. Just wish sometimes I'd stopped at three. Too many nice cars out there.
  15. Each to their own of course, but I had loads of fun in my Z3 earlier this year doing the NC500
  16. Yes, it is consistent. For a country blat I'd chose a lightweight rwd, an MX5 or a Z3 to have fun.
  17. You can do an awful lot to those turbo Vag engines, I had a 1.8 Turbo with 347bhp recorded at the wheels. Also stripped out to weigh less than 900kgs. Fun in a straight line, no fun in corners. I think Flytvr started the thread asking if 400+ bhp is suitable for public roads. It's a very good question, you really are in licence losing territory using all that power. Take any modern 911, stick your foot down once rolling and you'll be doing 100mph in less than 10 secs. You really don't need high power for fun on public raods. I occasionally drive my mates Clio thingy, it's a 200cup or something. It's much nicer round the country roads than my Rcf, I'm waiting for him to sell it and it'll be added to my collection. Just cost him a shed load in repairs though, even at a low 38,000 miles. If I was still into fast driving there's no way Id have the Rcf, I bought it as a luxury GT car with a nice interior. No ones mentioned the Mx5's yet, such a nice motor for country lanes.
  18. 100% yes. I had a 70mph spin in a VX220 and survived by pure luck. I sold it a week later.
  19. I don't drive fast anymore so doesn't matter to me which wheels are driven. So before anyone says it, Yes, the RCF is a little wasted on me. But I like rare cars. For fast road use the best car I've had by a long way was the Audi TTRS People say they're boring, soul less etc but for a usable car that you can get the power down where others can't, it's a clear winner. I think the RCF is too big and heavy for tail happy driving, for me that job would go to a Toyota GT86. I learnt to drive in AE86's So it's a good question/topic Flytvr, we should maybe take a bit less notice of magazine articles done by racing drivers on race tracks.
  20. Agree with that. The orange and whitish seats just doesn't work, in fact I'll go further to say that looks awful.
  21. I'm near Cambridge if you don't find anyone closer.
  22. Lovely looking car. And a great number plate.
