hockeyedwards replied to hockeyedwards's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
White, red interior, was put back on original 16 plate. So not mine, soz. The previous owner of yours is probably on the forum 🙂 -
A couple of odd exhaust questions
hockeyedwards replied to ubersonic's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Prepare for spiel.... 😛 Yes IS F can pass MOT test without secondary cats on the emissions side. Here lies the problem, officially the car SHOULD NOT pass an MOT without its secondary cats. The guidance was updated some years back that if 'factory emissions equipment' had been modified in any way, it was deemed a failure, regardless of emission result. So your questions surrounding the primary cats, would yield the same answer 'technically' speaking, should be a failure. Whether an MOT tester however is up to scratch on whether your car should have primary/ secondary cats, is your grey area and where most would just rely on the emissions test result and call it a day. The only other point would be the secondary cats are much more obvious at a quick glance under the car, so would primary cats be less likely to be spotted as 'missing' - who knows?! I don't want to open a can of worms regarding exhaust option, as everyone and their dog has an opinion. Some would tune with OEM equipment until that is the limit, then if you want more you start modifying. Some will modify equipment and then tune to 'maximise' results from the offset. Less cats = more noise and less restriction and I'll cut my comments there 🤣 -
Update for the thread, located a windscreen from Silver Shield Windscreens, based in St. Ives, Cambridgeshire, confirmed via car reg, part number and tint! Went and picked it up today alongside a new chrome strip for the top of the screen, mega chuffed! Recommendation came from the LS owners on facebook and Simon who responded to my emails couldn't have been more helpful. The next hurdle of course is, getting it fitted (and will it?) 🤣🤞

Interesting, will be following this as I am about to take my seats apart for cleaning and some potential DIY leather repairs. None of my heated seats work either and had heard the elements are likely to go with age. I haven't done any testing fuse wise etc so will start simple and maybe reach your stage along the way!

All it makes me think of is this instagram reel of a guy looking at an old X3 and it is literally decked with M badges wherever one would fit, even under the window switches. Had me in stitches as his Russian (I think) accent and over pronounciation of power as 'Powwwa' is gold. Maybe the money tree will sprout by the time the meet is organised and I'll have an F again 😞

RCF Exhaust upgrade
hockeyedwards replied to NickRCF's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
There was a blue RC F @Cezar B that also had a GTHaus but I believe he sold it separate from the car when partin ways. Believe I had the only GS F one. My car was up for sale with Lexus Swindon, so maybe it is out there somewhere booming away! -
RCF Exhaust upgrade

Had it on my GS F, it was an absolute monster! SUS midpipe and Titanium back boxes. Pretty sure it registered on the Richter scale on cold start haha! -

I also sought clarity regarding warranty when I had my exhaust. As outlined by the dealership - Warranty will be fine as long as any future faults cannot be linked to the afternarket part installed. If you have a brake based problem that could be rectified under warranty, can hardly be linked to having an exhaust fitted and as such void! I would have to say that all the options available offer a level over OEM, just depends how much V8 you want 😛 and how much/ little you care about your neighbours 😉 -
Thanks again for the added info. I am going to try UK options first, have also been given some contact details for another firm who may be able to help. If the UK fails, I shall start to branch out into EU and US 🙂 Once a solution has been found, I shall update the thread. Further suggestions still welcome in the mean time, good to have back ups A-Z!

Thanks peeps for your input. I had looked at Amayama, although they don't list the Lexus one, the same part number appears in stock when searching under Toyota, this was the one coming from UAE, which seemed pricey and hadn't even gone through to getting a shipping price. I will email the Dutch company and see if any good. I have been given a contact for a UK company who had stocked some of the later models screens, so have emailed to see if they have stock or could source mine. Rear screen looks very new and had definitely been broken in before my ownership, removal of the interior revealed a few hidden pockets of glass shards.

Sooo car is currently in for paint and the windscreen ideally needs to come out - no problems there as it is delaminating in each corner and would require replacement. Had the idea to have the windscreen replaced whilst it was in for paint, body shop more than happy for this to happen and recommended their go to company. After a phone call, was disappointed that they were unable to source a windscreen. Now this puts me in a spot of bother, the car is not currently insured, so I can't go through insurers. After some mild googling, haven't been able to come up with much. The current one has a Toyota stamped one, which I can find in UAE for an unholy amount of money and I am aware that screens are just made my 3rd parties and stamped accordingly, so any known companies I could approach to find a windscreen? The bodyshops windscreen guys are quite happy to fit one if I can source it, so here I am twiddling my thumbs and scratching my head looking for solutions. Any suggestions on sourcing a front windscreen for a 96 LS400? TIA.

RZ 450 delivery
hockeyedwards replied to John Adams's topic in Lexus RZ Owners Club - All-New Electric Lexus
Sat at Lexus Guildford this morning waiting on the wifes NX to be serviced, always have a walk around to see what is lurking in the back corners. A silver exterior with a very posh blue-ish/ grey interior RZ is sat over the back in its wrapping, I wonder if it will be their demonstrator? The Silver isn't for me, but that interior is rather sexy. Wife's NX comes to the end of its finance later this year and it will either be an RX or RZ from Lexus or as @F.A. mentioned the GV70 from Genesis! -

What a rollercoaster! Glad it has been found, should you get it back, I can't recommend highly enough an immobiliser. We had a few cars stolen overnight on our estate, although both were BMW's, it gave me a little bit of the fear. I had a Starline fitted and I know a few members across the forum have Ghosts fitted. Will definitely be following this thread, so please keep us all in the loop as to what plays out 🙂 -
GS F up for sale.
hockeyedwards replied to hockeyedwards's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Apologies on my behalf, been a bit busy and had planned to track the cars journey with the forum. Things coming to an end with current battles so should be a bit more active. Initially went to Asim at Monza, who was more than a gent and made the sale as smooth as possible. It then went to Lexus Swindon, who we all know love their F cars! The advert has disappeared from AT but I haven't checked if it is still on Lexus' website. Just to rub a bit of salt in the wound, I saw 2 GS F's on my journey to Scotland at the end of March 😂 and it is still weird looking out the back window and it not be there! Ultimately the sale was the right thing to do, has also made me put some love into my LS project which has been neglected so I will still be swooning around in a Lexus for the forseeable future, as will the wife in her NX! If it has a new owner, hope they pop up on here! 😄 -
4 years in. Well nearly.

@Killysprint Amen! Having sold mine, I've seen 2 on the road recently, ya know, just to rub the salt in the wound! 😂 -
WANTED - GS F
hockeyedwards replied to haith's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
No red ones made it to the UK as far as I remember, does look quite nice and I am not a red car person! -
Was all a bit of a rush to get the car back to rolling, so didn't stop to take pictures of the subframe all freshly powder coated with its new polybushes. Did everything up hand tight for now as I need to replace the rear upper control arm ball joints as they seem a bit worn out and as they didn't arrive in time, sadly, have to do some dismantling upon its return from paint. Thankfully most of the bolts got replaced as they were seized in place and needed cutting out and a generous lube before putting everything back together should ensure a simple dismantle! The only picture I got was of the car sitting on fresh DHP wheels and rubber, but missing front n rear lights, grill and under the wheels, all 4 callipers that are currently being painted. I had aftermarket wheels as a temporary solution, which were nice, but my god the DHP wheels look sexy! Interior is all out in the garage for a thorough scrub and maybe I'll have a bash at some DIY leather repairs.

@Shahpor good to see your system is up and running, the glory months are just around the corner! After install last year, September ran 90% off grid, winter months have been 'tough' and due to sub optimal roof position and lack of sun, was pretty much reliant on overnight charge, but still better than running from the grid for the day! Plus the government grant was pretty much covering my expenditure. Recent weeks have seen 6kw+ being generated, so more to come in sunnier months! I have set up the Eddi to force discharge power from the battery in the morning and evening to heat the hot water, regardless of surplus from the panels. Heating will soon be completely off and will be much less reliant on grid charge overnight. Small bills here we come! Enjoy watching your apps like a hawk haha!

It has been all go for me, all 5 DHP wheels are off for refurb alongside new rubber, have dismantled the 2 front corners aside one corroded bolt which will get cut and replacement already ordered. Full bush kit has been ordered and the car goes for a full repaint and Artisan Spirits lip kit at the end of the month, subframe due for powdercoating end of the week, so that came out today. Captain crusty! Will spend tomorrow taking diff and control arms etc all off. I can already forsee some bolts needing cut! Have to say it really didnt fight me aside the support bracket nuts had all but disintegrated, no impact gun needed, all done by hand, the dog enjoyed watching me have near aneurysm on one bolt though 🤣
