New to RC F, hi all
hockeyedwards replied to Badger s's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Welcome fellow F-er 😉 You'll likely get more people come up to you and discuss/ ask questions in car parks etc as few know what car it is. There are a few exhaust options out there that may satisfy your sound requirements 😛 I see you are Hampshire, where abouts? 🙂 -

Lexus PHEV end of 2021 and full EV in 2022
hockeyedwards replied to DanD's topic in Lexus General Discussions
Apologies, my statement wasn't very clear. I wasn't arguing synthetic fuels to be more/ less harmful. More so, that if they could create them, manufacturers that currently have 90% ICE sales are likely to push hard for synthetics and retain development of ICE's over BEV's 😛 -

I kinda agree, I do believe ICE do contribute to environmental change/ damage, but yes, on a much smaller scale than largest industry in whatever country you may be from worldwide. It is a bit like the energy saving lightbulb phenomenon, sod the factory down the road pumping out toxic waste of every orifice, my A+ rated bulbs will cancel that out! And our latest crusade is microplastics, my reusable metal straws will combat the tonnes of fishing equipment dumped into the ocean every year...😆 Also would love to see the stats on the % difference of pollution caused by industry making ICE cars vs. BEV's? -

Just to throw a spanner or two 😛 in the old works (wouldn't be me if I didn't), but think of it as food for thought 🙂 Porsche are looking into synthetic fuels, imagine if that succeeds... EV's dead in the water? I also think a current oil giant is also looking into this alongside or possibly separately. Do we really think the oil big boys are just gonna roll over... Toyota's CEO (or someone equally high up) discussed that BEV's are a 'phase' and that the true new direction of future cars is yet to come to fruition Hydrogen seems to slowly be gaining traction - I can't comment on how good or bad it is, as I haven't read enough to form an opinion I would also say I agree with it being a mindset change to have an EV full time, but people are entitled to not change their mind. Whilst I think I could adapt to having an EV as a main car in the household, I personally don't want to... 🤷♂️ I also think that it is a valid point about affordability of high range EV's in the current market. -

Now I'm gonna have to go round and check all my trim pieces... 🤣 Congrats on the sale @ColinBarber, nice that it was painless! New owner and I have already exchanged words regarding exhaust options 😆 @F.A. if you do go the Lexus GB route, would you mind updating with what they respond? I think we can all agree that this isn't acceptable considering the ages (and we don't abuse our interiors) of the cars. -
Hi and Help 😀
hockeyedwards replied to Pebisit's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
I don't ride myself so it doesn't make any sense to me but my dad has since he was in single digits so maybe I'm not explaining/ phrasing it correctly - unless he was very good at falling off! 😆 -

Funny that, my dad has one - sportshift II, his description was you had to treat it like a motorbike gear change, back off throttle... change... reapply throttle. Having said that, he has some work done by Bamford Rose to 'moderately' improve performance and clutch operation and said the difference is magnificent! -

Although I am a Lexus enthusiast through and through, I would unfortunately disagree with one thing, the 8 or 10 speed boxes are fine for auto modes and general cruising, but when in manual mode and wanting to blip up or down through some gears, it can occasionally 'stutter' or 'lag' in changing, I would say I've learned how to effectively avoid this scenario, but I would personally say it is night and day between ours and DCT types... however, Toyota discussed why they decided on torque converter auto's over DCT's and it simply came down to reliability and knowing that problems are likely to be minimal, I'd have ours over a DCT. Having friends in newer cars with less mileage, with DCT's - nothing but problems from our German counter parts, which I think is then further reflected that the newer cars being made by these manufacturers are now going to torque converter autos... almost as if Toyota were right 😛 Hope to hear of your successful purchase soon though and some pics to go with 😉 -
Lexus PHEV end of 2021 and full EV in 2022
hockeyedwards replied to DanD's topic in Lexus General Discussions
Had actually forgot about this, one of the OG's haha! Also in general, i'm not disagreeing with you in terms of where the market is at, but the SUV demand must be there, especially for manufacturers to warrant sticking their performance engines in them as well as offering the average joe spec? Also agreed that none of them are in general 'feasible' hence why I have 3 cars with combustion engines (albeit the NX is hybrid) because you are correct, the range isn't there for me to warrant any interest in an electric car (for now). However, not everyone wants 300 miles range. The lack of range for me is secondary to charge time/ charging experience. I couldn't do business where I had to plan by day around charge times/ queues to get a charger, would drive me insane. I could cope with 100 mile range if the recharge time was the equivalent of fueling up, but infrastructure takes time, planning and investment (lol at UK government accomplishing such things!) I knew that, was just playing devils advocate 😛 -

hockeyedwards replied to Pebisit's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
there is a 'track pack' which you can put on the standard car which would include these wheels and then their is the 'track edition' which is all the *coughs* 'weight saving' bits and unique paint options and the carbon fixed wing - probs some other differences but i cba to look it up 😛 -

Superb audio quality Literally couldn't be without this, slips into card slot in my wallet which is always on me anyway, beats jamming a key in my pocket. Have forgot to have it on my person and tried to open the car behind the house 😛 also couldnt be without as journey to and from work involves dual carriageway with rush hour dopes, but sometimes feel it makes me lazy to not 'double check' before making a lane move at non peak times. -
Lexus PHEV end of 2021 and full EV in 2022
hockeyedwards replied to DanD's topic in Lexus General Discussions
Yeah i think this is correct, 450h+ is the likely engine name, with the + denoting plug in capability, wondering if they will still offer a non plug in hybrid alongside? Also the battery/ motor providers that Toyota have partnered with are somewhat exciting too. Intrigued to see how it all pans out. The Lexus concepts are always a treat and production cars are close in likeness, so perhaps some super futuristic looking models to come 🙂 -

Porsche Taycan (kind of) Audi e-tron GT Polestar 1 Very old but Mercedes SLS electric 😛 I realise none of them are Lexus/ Toyota products but they are examples... Some jap manufacturers are just starting to come forward with more BEV options other than city cars or SUV's, so maybe exercise some patience and you may be rewarded 😉 I know you love to say another boring SUV, but if that is the market demand, why would they make anything else and considering the market is still very much a combustion engine one, the small % of BEV vehicles MUST be a popular type, otherwise, why would they bother? Also us 'petrol heads' are a minority, so our % market share of cars purchased is finite compared to your average person/ household. If these 'boring cars' start the EV interest and that eventually moves into coupes/ GT's then so be it. -

*Rubs hands together* haha! My only comment would be (and it may be to your taste), you have to sometimes really push the engine hard to get 'fun' out of it? 4k+ revs to really get the juices flowing! Amen! -

What can only be described as some ancient beaten up old can that could only be found in the depths of my fathers garage and sworn by through the generations! 😆 I've honestly forgotten its name but I had never heard of it before, will report back if I remember. -
ISF rear calipers
hockeyedwards replied to RichGS11's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Took a week of spraying penetrating fluid once in the morning and once in the evening into a few seized bolts on my LS400 before they came off. A few on my dads mk1 golf required heating and then 'cracked' with a decent socket and bar. For one on the LS we had the car up on quik-jacks, one of us laying on the floor pulling down and one above pushing down as we could only fit medium sized socket and bar into available space. I'd keep trying every few days, take worst case scenario of needing to replace the calipers - anything less than that is a victory and if you are in no immediate rush, patience might save you some £££. -

Sounds very ominous 😆 I thought you had sold the F and moved on! Good to see it's still kicking about 😉 - the wrap looks mega, goes well with the wheels too! Are you still planning to lower it? Be interested to see it in the flesh once we're allowed! -

I don't think you are far off, had been watching the ISF's on and off but they've been swept up in recent months. The fact you have all the new bits recently fitted and have the parts for all 4 corners makes it a good buy. There are a few other members that were keeping more of a keen eye on the market so hopefully they'll post in due course. Just gonna see if I've got the money under the mattress or scramble it together from the centre console change, always liked them in grey! -
