Looking good @MattDH
What's the reverse camera like?
Be good to know what the minor issues are?
Can you still access all the normal Lexus settings as normal?

Looks like its been announced in Australia already:
https://www.drive.com.au/news/lexus-australia-recalls-more-than-14000-gs-is-and-rc-models/
I'm sure the chances of anything happening are low but its one to get done asap I guess! I wonder how quick Lexus will be able to get these done. Best call them first thing Monday and beat the rush to get it booked in.
The recall notice, uploaded to the Lexus Australia media website, says: "The involved vehicles are equipped with a fuel evaporative emission control unit (also referred to as fuel tank vent tube assembly) that is attached to the fuel tank by a flange.
"The fuel tank vent tube assembly prevents the fuel vapour that is created in the fuel tank from being released directly into the atmosphere.
"Due to the design of the flange, there is a possibility that a stress related crack could develop on the exterior surface of the flange. The crack could expand over time and, depending on the size of the crack, could eventually allow fuel to leak from the crack.
"Depending on the amount of fuel that escapes from the crack, and if it is in the presence of an ignition source, this could increase the risk of a vehicle fire."

I can’t make out if the car is a 90-92 or 93-94 model as no clear shot of the odometer.
Car was a December 1992 registration so may be the later series II with the bigger wheels and better front brakes.
Its a 90-92, the Overdrive button on the 93-94 is on the side of the gear shifter 🤓

Interesting paint job...I wonder what the story is behind it!

Thanks Mark, I should have searched on the forum. I remember reading about it now.
The car does look nice thanks, I'm searching for a decent set of alloys that came with with car to refurbish. The DHP alloys look great but I want to put the originals back on, might take a while to find some though. If you are looking to offload the DHP alloys in the future do let me know

In your current setup can you replace the Audio section with the Climate section, that way Audio is not shown anywhere. Then go back in again and see if it then allows you to make Audio your main screen.
In my IS, if the option is already in a selected on the display it doesn't allow you 'move' it, you have make it unselected and then it allows you select where you want it to put it.

On the lookout for a set of DHP alloys, let me know if you are willing to sell, thanks.

Does every Lexus dealer do the visual check for free? Must get my LS checked by them 😀
A lot parts that are not available or are a crazy price, not ideal although I guess not that surprising.
-
If they go for the going rate then it will make it too expensive for me with postage and customs charges (thanks Brexit!), but will register interest at least.
I sent a message to see if they will post and if they are on the forum, that was a good idea to see if eBay can be avoided.
-
Please nobody else bid on these so that I can get them cheap 😀

Does anyone else think that car has done more than 15K miles? The steering wheel looks very worn, and the center armrest / seats don't look great either.
-
In my 93 there's one in the boot, on the right hand side there's a little compartment which holds the kit.

OK, so I think the strut rod bushings are still good so will refit.
Will check the drop links, hopefully its that. If not then UCA is the next bet, and expensive one!
-
I've been getting a clunk in the front suspension. After some investigation it seems like the strut rod bushing was a common cause. This morning I took them off for a look, pretty easy job which is nice. However I was expecting to see a lot worse in the regards cracks in the rubber. What does every think of the these? Are they due replacement?

Thats a pity it didnt work. Any idea what the harness you received is for? Is it just that its for another Lexus model or a different generation of the LS ?

Just a quick shoutout to @ambermarine who sent me a few bulbs in the post (as dealers no longer stock this part) and now I have a working door open light, happy days 🙂

So the door open warning light/bulb is gone on my dash. This is one of the lights that project down from the top of the cluster. Lexus/Toyota dealer have said this part is no longer available.
Anyone know where I could pickup one of these or if they have a certain type/name I should be looking for? Could ask a breaker to post me a out one for a few quid I guess.
Its part number 84999-50270

Looking forward to this, sometimes I think I have white smoke but not noticed any power steering fluid loss yet.

Did you manage to get any further on this Richard?
Looking to add Bluetooth to the LS and the Denison seems like a good option. Was also thinking of the Parrot kits but that doesn’t seem possible (or at least straight forward!)

I know theres a bit of love for a burgandy LS400 here. Had a pretty good MOT history until the last few years when rust and suspension gets mentioned more than you'd like...

Theres something about the shape of the camera that makes it look a bit odd on the outside. They seem too thin for the size of the car, I'm sure you would get used to them very quickly
They are in the new Honda E (where they look a lot better outside and inside with the screen), things like this will become more and more common so we might as well get used to it.
I hope you buy one with them.

This should be of some help: http://importarchive.com/lexus/ls/1995-2000/paint
6Q7 = Imperial Jade MICA (thats the main code, the upper body)
I think UCAB0 is the lower paint code according to that website...
