  1. Lexus Stockport had a green over tan hybrid demo car, plus there was ONE green/tan convertible that I know of that was up for sale a few months back - he was on instagram with it when he owned it. Looovely.
  2. Family AND fun? Like, together? Nope, you've lost me...
  3. C'mon Lexus, get on with it.
  4. Well, duh, OBVIOUSLY - what else is there 😁 What did you try?
  5. JLR have spent in excess of £10 million sorting their 'issues' plus have pledged £1 million to UK plod. If we're expected to pay for our 'solution' I will not be impressed. I've already spent £500+ on a tracker, immobiliser and steering wheel lock but at least I'd get the software change mentioned above. Yay.
  6. Furious? Yes! As far as I know only two LC have been nicked so far. The thieves are far too classy and go for the RX every time 😉
  7. A free tracker is lovely but it doesn't stop the car being stolen. There'll also be ongoing costs to keep it live. Rewriting the canbus software isn't happening - it'd cost £££ and take even longer. A proper circuit-disconnecting immobiliser is the answer, together with the tracker, provided it's not fitted in the same circuit or location on all cars. Hands up who else also thought of this bl**dy months ago?
  8. Just to add I had faraday pouches, but I tested them close to my cars and found they didn't work. I now have a faraday tin with a solid, tight fitting lid - zero signal leakage - on amazon for less than £20.
  9. If you’re in the UK you get ten years Relax warranty free as long as it’s serviced annually at Lexus. You’ve used dollars - if you’re in America I think they get 7 years but I’m not 100% sure.
  10. If your car is 23/24 chances are it’ll default to full EU nanny beeping on every trip. Older stuff can be switched off permanently - sadly 2024 EU rules don’t allow that.
  11. My ultimate solution would be a pair of Clifford vibration sensors mounted to the backsides of the front bumper or arch liner connected to a basic old school alarm and siren but I’m terrified of working on modern cars in case I break clips or other plastic bits. As soon as the bumper is tampered with they’d get an earful. Haven’t yet found an alarm fitter who doesn’t default to “ghost is all you need mate” unfortunately.
  12. I took my big ugly holders off, cut my front plate down and mounted the front plate straight onto the grille with two long stainless self tappers through the holes in the grille plus a few bits of 3m tape for added lexusness. Rear is full size plate and 3m tape. Looks much better!
  13. A shortened UK plate will cover them, just!
  14. Ghost themselves only do a canbus system immobiliser, so the tracker side will be something like one of these. Ghost is cheap, easy to fit and doesn't need much soldering or messing with the car's wiring like a relay inserted into a loom does. Downside : it's potentially not infallible - how accurate that post is I dunno, but my guess is a Ghost isn't hack-proof. I know installers are given a couple of locations to fit the thumbdrive sized Ghost unit - if found eg under the drivers door sill trim like on the Audi I had - it can be ripped out in seconds. Mine's a Scorpion S5 tracker with an immobiliser upgrade that physically cuts a circuit like the Cat 2 immobilisers from decades ago. More work, but harder to get around. Keep it old school 😎
  15. Might be light at the end of the tunnel - see here on the RX forum Oh, and from Watchdog's website... email watchdog@bbc.co.uk, tweet @BBCWatchdog or send a message on Facebook BBC Watchdog
  16. Bump! From this thread here on the RX forum we might have the long awaited 'April solution' Lexus mentioned after they crapped themselves post-Watchdog. Shame it sounds like an immobiliser and tracker that I already have... If anyone has any more info post it up!
  17. Rewriting the canbus system is next to impossible from the little I understand. Steel canbus plates are a pathetic solution that could be got around in seconds with a bit of practice... or they'll just find another access point. If they are proposing a proper Thatcham fob-type immobiliser that isolates an ecu, fuel pump, brake pedal light or similar that's what I've got on my LC (plus an S5 Scorpion tracker amongst other things), and it's what I've been suggesting all along, provided installations cover a range of circuits and locations - it'd be pointless every Lexus having the same immobiliser relay in exactly the same place! They could still get into my car via canbus, but finding which circuit has been immobilised would take many minutes if not hours to locate and rewire. And it's taken, what, 4 months to come up with this 30 year old 'solution'?! They'd better not be suggesting we pay for it.
  18. Note the LC front grille in the UK has two big holes in it for the plate holder mounts. I don't think the US grille has these. Not sure on JDM. If you're swapping bits from different market cars do check carefully that they'll fit.
  19. Mine's a '21 plate with factory carplay and I think all I can do is up/down tracks on the right 'wheel buttons - anything else is Lexus trackpad either working within apps or 'swiping' between apps. Doubt a 3rd party solution would offer anything over the factory attempt as there isn't the buttons to do it?
  20. That'd be my guess. Muppets.

    LC 500

Spotted near Stockport! A very shiny red LC coupe - we exchanged thumbs-up and grins - god these cars look good in the wild 😀
  22. Google ‘LC500 future classic’ and there’s a lot of views that it could be. It’ll soar in value in years to come… just after my executors sell mine probably.
  23. Very cool - 18 months ago this was not possible on UK cars. £550 is cheap to be honest bearing in mind the work involved. A gamechanger for some buyers I would guess, me included - using Waze and Spotify is a massive plus.
  24. Most definitely. 99% of people have no idea what it is - I’ve been asked if it’s electric numerous times! The other 1% absolutely ‘get it’… and they’re the real car enthusiasts. Roughly the same price as a knackered Mclaren or dancing donkey but there’s no negativity or OTT photography like you’d get with something more ubiquitous. Suits me perfectly.
  25. Milenco here too!
