  1. I’ve watched the 40-odd minutes of the car guys video and he bloody loved it. I wouldn’t be surprised if Damien buys one. As you say, they know their sh!t, despite a pre-disposed fascination with shonky Fiat tat. Thing is, the LC kind of is THE BEST CAR EVER - apart from the weight (it’s not a sports car), the infotainment (heck, it’s at least 30 years ahead of the 2014 Maserati I had), small boot, and errr, errr, the erm, pfft yeah, it is good isn’t it. But I’m preaching to the converted. Add on 10 year warranty, n/an engine, and literal concept car looks. That’s why there are so few for sale. If only it had a BMW M-effort badge, it’d sell in the thousands…
  2. Very nice! I didn’t know red and white interiors existed - looks very 😎
  3. It really does work. As it should at that price!
  4. I don’t think a barried-up 3 series is comparable to my Toyota but that could just be me I suppose. If 30% of the entire 650-thingy stock is up for sale that’s not a good thing. Compare with 11 cars out of 250 ie less than 5% of all LC V8s for sale. That does suggest nobody is trying to sell. I can understand why 😎
  5. I didn’t know there were any orange convertibles… bet it looked awesome. I still haven’t seen yellow or orange in the flesh.
  6. Using the wasted space by the amp is a good idea - that looks a neat solution.
  7. A silver non sport has gone, a black/black Lexus dealer (Newcastle?) car has finally gone and a red sport convertible vanished in days. Those are the ones that stick in my memory, could be more. Meanwhile the long term ads remain, probably due to condition or miles or spec. There’s 11 used V8s on autotrader right now. Not exactly a liquid market!
  8. Useful stuff to have recorded on here especially the parts list. I had a windscreen done on the drive a few years ago - all seemed good until the next time I cleaned the car I realised the sheet they’d ‘protected’ the bonnet with was so full of shards of glass from previous jobs it was as good as sandpaper - both mirrors looked like they’d been attacked with a Brillo pad.
  9. White and red is a good combo! Looks lovely.
  10. No they’re a dealer option. I negotiated mine into the deal (mines a used ‘21 convertible) and the uk price is approx (sit down!) £1200. Comes with a bag and fits in the boot ok. Theres also a company called cabrio supply who do a non-OEM one for £600 but it looks a bit more agricultural. It works very well - my wife is hairier than me and is very impressed.
  11. I’d also recommend channeling your inner Miami Vice and going for white jeans if possible. Slip on loafers optional. My last car was cream, almost white and blue jeans were a nightmare..
  12. Where do you work - sounds like you see the cars before the owners do?!
  13. Just take your shoes off before getting in and the carpets will be fine…
  14. I can’t see any decent garage being willing to fit eBay parts supplied by the customer, especially not safety critical bits like suspension.
  15. 6? Wow, I’ve only had 2! What colour LC are you waiting for? In an ideal world mine would be yellow with black interior I think, instead of infra red and black. First world problems 😀
  16. Oh yeah! Looks fantastic. Sheep won’t know what hit ‘em 😂
  17. It’s a good choice - I think I saw the ad for yours. There’s only two options apart from colour and trim - heads up display and mark levinson stereo, not essential I suppose but nice to have. Vast majority of convertibles seem to be ex demo - mine was too. The folding hood operation is about a century ahead of the Grancabrio, it amazes me every time. Portofino is a steel roof I think? probably the same speed as the LC but I know which I’d rather have out of warranty 😂
  18. I think you could be right in that they’re too rare to be nickable but it’s still worthwhile making it difficult for them. I’ve never heard of an LC being stolen, whereas german cars and SUVs like the RX and any range rover seem to be disappearing quite regularly.
  19. Hi, thanks for that - I understand how it’s been fitted now - it looks like your holder may have been cut down to match the plate width? Looks good anyway! I’ll admit to shortening my plates with a jigsaw rather than pay fourdot prices, although they do look very good quality 😀
  20. Welcome! My experience so far has been great, I’ve only had mine for a few weeks and apart from being absolutely terrified of scuffing the wheels it’s been all good so far. Last car was a Maserati Grancabrio and I had a TVR before that so the Lexus build quality is a new one on me. You’re not far from me if you’re in Lancs - I’m near Stockport. What colour scheme is it? eta Pics!!
  21. Problem we have is the canbus headlight method of theft. Crowbar wing bumper and headlamp out, hack into canbus wiring, start up and steal what’s left. The anti theft devices being considered don’t have any visible sign they’re there, so by the time they realise that the car won’t start (ghost) you’ve got a very broken car. If it’s a tracker with the optional immobiliser relay to prevent starting you’ve got the same problem. I’m thinking about doubling up with something like a Clifford alarm if they still exist - flashing led, stickers etc so the peasants are actually aware they may have a problem before they start with the crowbars.
  22. Go on - what’s the list of faults? Other than wheel damage and/or crappy refurbs, creased drivers seat bolster and some stone chips I honestly can’t think of a single fault with any of the cars I looked at. Actual faults would be covered for ten years with the relax warranty.
  23. My insurers required an S5 tracker - mines a scorpion track fitted by tracker team. I picked that as it was the cheapest overall cost including lifetime subscription. The app is good, you can see your speeds and routes on every journey so the tracker side definitely works but it’s not an alarm so there’s no visible deterrent. Not sure I’d bother with a non insurance approved version although a ghost as well as a S5 tracker would be the ultimate protection.
  24. I’d guess because some are second/third cars, some are owned by elderly/retired types and some are ex-demo or showroom models. Mine is august 2021 and only had 4,000 miles on it after 18 months as it was owned by lexus head office. The previous owner of the yellow 79,000 mile example needs to be congratulated though - good effort!
