  1. Oh. So my kitchen scourer and Fairy Liquid isn't good enough? I always rinse it out well before using it on the car. It's very effective on bird poo and it leaves that lovely matt paint finish that's so popular these days.
  2. Actually, it's quite funny having come from TVR and Maserati forums, heck, even Tesla, Merc & BMW areas - my lights being (in my humble opinion, not the Takumi craftsmen!) slightly temperamental is a conversation piece. I'm used to exploding flywheels, seized engines, Titanic-like corrosion, unfathomable electrical faults, piles of trim falling off... I LIKE my Lexus 😂
  3. Definite flash of the lights and a hand over the eyes - standard Police transit type van. Or more likely it could have been a 'wow I love your Lexus' flash and a brief salute to my tastefulness.
  4. Yes, I get the green lights on symbol. Dappled light through trees and I can have the lights on the whole time. I'm wondering if mine's more sensitive - I'm going to try it for a bit with the sensitivity set to +2 (currently -2) and see what happens - you never know, it could be arse about face. I wouldn't expect it to be with Lexus though!
  5. That is this week's Man Maths Award winner 😁 Do it!
  6. Thanks for fiddling Brian, it’s already set to -2 which I assume is the least sensitive setting. It’s not a major problem, it just annoys me I can’t control my own bl**dy lights! I was driving the Honda yesterday and was flashed by a Police van, almost definitely because the led headlamps were momentarily on in broad daylight.
  7. In variable weather or going under trees and back out into brighter areas the headlights are far too sensitive, sometimes switching between dipped and running lights as often as every few metres. I have been ‘flashed at’ by oncoming traffic a couple of times - the LC dipped beams are quite bright and it’s very obvious when they’re on during daytime. I have the same nanny state problem with my wife’s Honda E. Simplest option if all stalks are the same is to put it into sidelight mode every time I start the car I suppose.
  8. Calling early LC owners (or those outside Europe). Do you have an option to switch your headlamps off? Mines a 2021 and I have the options of sidelights, headlights or ‘auto = flashy flashy onny offy in cloud, dusk or when crossing a leyline’. It’d be really cool to be able to actually switch them off. Anybody with an early car - can you do this? If so, I’m tempted to see if I could ‘upgrade’ to a grownup headlight stalk.
  9. And a shout out for the LC owners would be hugely appreciated too! My local dealer haven’t had a response to my LC canbus plate questions from Lexus UK yet. Pressure from as many different angles might help. Hope the fitting goes well.
  10. I bought a Tesla like that before they realised. Citroen dealer selling two almost identical Model S forgot to include the ‘P’ when they typed in P100D into their valuation price guide. Big oops. Buy that convertible quick, it’ll be 80k by the weekend… New entry on autotrader- 67 plate red sport plus coupe, 56k, black/ red interior and hud - great spec. It’ll sell but a non main dealer might slow it down a bit. Mid 40s is still a while off I suspect. It’ll happen, but the LC will be less affected by interest rates, mortgages etc than more oversupplied stuff.
  11. Shineeeey 😎
  12. I agree - that’s why there’s currently sod all for sale under 64k that isn’t yellow! Might change due to economy and/or autumn but recently buyers have bought - and fast. Mid 50s or thereabouts and they’re a bargain. The stuff that sticks has issues - colour, wheels, spec. If it’s right, it sells. Buttons to run, still warrantied for years to come, brilliant dealers, sounds and looks amazing, and nobody else has one. Heck, an early one probably doesn’t even have luxury car tax on it now?
  13. As previous post mines a genuine one, all one thousand pounds worth. It works very well. Draught is noticeably reduced to the point my wife (who has MUCH more hair than me) is more than happy in the car with hair and roof down. Nice quality catches with rubberised non rattle ends - you can slide them and then flick them up to fix them into the unlocked/removal position which makes removal and refixal (new word) a doddle. I’ll say yes, recommended, but the price is completely ridiculous- honestly if I was actually spending money separately on one I’d get the cabriosupply version although I agree it looks like it sits higher than the OEM one. Check eBay out and select European sellers as well - much cheaper at £434 plus postage - I’ve no idea if tax would be applied on import.
  14. To be honest yes I did call them and yes it is convertible. But 22,000 miles - double any other convertible I’ve seen - still super cheap. If I was in the market at any level that’d be a no brainer even borrowing money to up the budget. Full spec, ten grand cheaper than any other I’ve spotted.
  15. https://used.lexus.co.uk/approved-used/lexus-lc-500-convertible-5-0-v8-sport-plus-auto-euro-6-2dr-jthfpaay60a100564 Cheapest convertible EVER I think. KE70UCN sport plus red over tan, ml and hud, 69995 with 22k miles. Cheeeeeep!
  16. Early stuff - there is now zero for sale apart from the two bananas. If you want an early non GPF exhaust and don’t like yellow you’re kind of knackered 😂 Everything else is 2019/2020 and newer. My guess is people are catching on. 2017/2018 plate coupe for mid 50s with granite build quality and potentially 5 years warranty left on that N/A V8? Find me something else that compares? Anything decent under 60-70 doesn’t seem to last for long. Today there are 17 V8s on AT. Orange over tan ‘vert down to 95. If you don’t like yellow and want non-resprayed wheels the cheapest uk price is 64 grand. Nothing cheaper on the market anywhere. BARGAIN - Hatfield have just advertised a 2020 sport plus convertible, red over tan, hud and ML for 69995. Ad says convertible, my spidey senses say coupe at that price. Reg is KE70UCN . If it’s a soft top it’s a steal! https://used.lexus.co.uk/approved-used/lexus-lc-500-convertible-5-0-v8-sport-plus-auto-euro-6-2dr-jthfpaay60a100564 Edited cos that is confirmed by Lexus as a convertible. Bloody hell that’s cheap!
  17. Mine's the red one 😎 When I bought it I was told it was ex-Lexus HQ - before I went for it I checked every roadtest I could find to make sure it hadn't been given to journalists for donuts and track use. Recently I registered with mylexus or whatever it's called and the service history list is full of 'Press & Public Affairs' entries each a few hundred miles apart, with 'Carry out Press check' as the 'service'. Then I emailed Lexus Press office to ask about it, they replied... and that's my car in the photo outside Lexus UK. It was used for media photos, internal director/VIP use and also for Top Gear - fortunately just at the start and end of an episode!!
  18. I think we need some photos!
  19. Snap! My dad had an IS and I probably heard the same LFA as you revving at Chester. Instantaneous like a motorbike. Incredible.
  20. I use a 10”x3” solar panel charger on my 12v lawnmower battery over winter. The panel is propped up against a north facing window. It starts ok in the spring but I don’t know how well it would work on a car with EV batteries alongside the 12v system. Also got some Optimate battery conditioners which work brilliantly on ‘normal’ cars but they need mains power. I’d guess conditioning the 12v battery would allow the hybrid battery to be maintained via the 12v system? Oh, and 4 months avoiding the UK winter. Jealous!
  21. You can check by looking at the bhp - 471 are pre GPF and louder, the newer 464 lost 7 bhp due to the GPF and will be quieter. Crossover was 2018-ish I think. It’s only EU cars that went silly because climate - I think the US still get proper exhausts. Mines a GPF car but it’s a convertible which does help with the noise compared to the coupe I drove. There’s a difference with the GPF but it’s not night and day, plus you can always add an exhaust valve controller from Etsy or pull the plugs off the two exhaust valves. I have an Etsy controller but I’m not convinced it works…
  22. Just checked my front boot and it appears some errant Takumi craftsman has stuffed a V8 in there.
  23. That was one of the reviews I read too. Less than half the base price of the others (even before the others get tens of thousands of pounds worth of options) - the very definition of the LC punching above its weight.
  24. Good point but a fair few private sale LCs do seem to disappear fairly quickly then reappear on dealers forecourts to then sit at a much higher price for a much longer period. Orange convertible a current example. Hybrid makes total sense as a daily driver, not my thing personally when there’s the option of the V8, but I can definitely see why they hold their value as well as the petrol cars.
  25. The voice of experience speaking there I think, sums it up well. A potential owner rather than just a test driver is much more likely to pick the LC. Except nobody does. Still can’t work out why there are so few LCs in the UK.
