I’m not a fan of the reversed black/chrome wheels at all. Apart from eBay and used wheels another option could be taking delivery and advertising the 2024 wheels as I’d guess there’d be a fair bit of interest from existing owners in upgrading to the new wheels - you might even get a perfect set of the original design wheels in part exchange? Considering the price of these cars and the flexibility the Americans seem to get you’d think there’d be more personalisation options. It may be worth speaking to Lexus Press office to see if they have any press cars with them fitted.

Lexus should be issuing an official recall to sort this on EVERY model affected - Steve E C is a typical owner who will have no idea his car is at risk. 30 seconds crouched down by the front wing in a car park while pretending to tie your shoelaces is all it takes. A faraday pouch or tin will not prevent this type of theft. Ghost, canbus immobiliser, steering lock or tracker with immobiliser will prevent or slow down theft but not before the car has had potentially thousands of pounds worth of damage inflicted on it. EVERY Lexus of this sort of age is at risk… but it’s only the RX that’s being given the solution as it’s the only one that’s ended up in the UK top ten most stolen.

I don’t know about the LS but Lexus have told me there are no plans to fit plates to the LC500 - I’d guess the LS falls into the same low volume category that won’t make the headlines like the RX thefts. Immobiliser, steering wheel lock etc at your cost are the only options I suspect. The only reason it is being rolled out free to the RX is because of the bad publicity resulting in it being in the UK top ten most stolen cars. As an LS owner you’re effectively top of the Lexus food chain - I’d hope they’d listen to you and sort something out but I’d guess you’ll get the same response I’ve had. It’s disappointing.

LS400 is a future collectible as the muricans would say. A decent LS400 is probably a very sensible buy - I think they’re going up in value?

Absolutely correct. Copper grease is far better 😎

LC500 V8s back to mid £40k by end of year?
eightk replied to Flytvr's topic in Lexus LC500 / LC500h Club
Bearing in mind the 20,000 miles left on the Lexus warranty it doesn’t really matter whether it’s a private sale or glass fronted showroom that’s selling it. I agree low 40’s is the right ball park, maybe an offer as low as 40 might take it - it’s treble the mileage of most other cars. Nice spec though! -
Loud clunk when braking (Everything is tight and looks good)
eightk replied to MrTrendizzle's topic in Brakes & Suspension
Try hard and soft braking to see if there’s a difference - if it’s just hard braking clonking and making the nose dive it could be suspension eg drop links or roll bar bushes or lower arms moving about… plus find a deserted bit of road and do walking pace forwards brake, backwards brake cycles to see if it’s the pads moving in the callipers. -

Boom! DtotheMs 79,000 mile yellow nemesis is now 47995. Watch all the other cars plummet by two grand over the next couple of weeks. Or not 😂 Lexus Cardiff have an Inspiration convertible that’s making me go all funny - an almost Structural Blue paint which must be the new ultrasonic colour, navy and white interior, and the latest touchscreen set up. Shame you wouldn’t be able to test drive it at anything over 20mph… -

That’s funny - now 52500. Nice work if you can get it. -
From experience less than 20,000 miles 😎 Most of the wear is probably the weight of the thing on bends rather than launching it from every set of lights - there’s no wheelspin no matter how hard you try. It’s clever but pointless really - where it is of real world use is lane changes, slip roads, getting out of a ‘situation’ etc - the safety aspect of the power is the most useful part.

Well, the talking down of prices has worked very well so far - that 80,000 mile yellow one has dropped nearly 500 quid in six months 😂 Meanwhile other lower mileage stuff has come, been reduced a couple of grand, and gone. They’ll go down - winters coming - but mid 40s still doesn’t seem to be happening for cars with sensible mileage. Seriously though, if you’re in a position to do it, DO IT. Fantastic cars. -

The only things really getting kicked in the nuts at the moment seem to be either green or knackered. EVs are not selling as expected, used ones are worthless from what I’ve read (and I speak as an EV owner since 2015), and then there’s the forced selling of non Khan compliant older stuff that’s dropping in value as the pool of potential buyers shrinks like a C40 mayors testicles on the eve of an election. V8s are where it’s at 😎 Buy now while they’re still legal… -
And if I’d read your original post properly and realised you were discussing the wear sensors not the pads I wouldn’t have wasted everybody’s time 😂

Ta-dah! 2018 Sport Plus V8, 62,000 miles, silver over red/black - £46,950. Cheapest ever?! https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202309121882099?sort=price-asc&advertising-location=at_cars&include-delivery-option=on&make=Lexus&model=LC%20500&postcode=M11ad&fromsra -
Just to add… it’s worth it 😀

If you have a plug in hybrid or just don’t do many miles with an EV don’t discount the granny charger on a 3 pin plug - we’ve had various EVs and 99% of the charging has been at a lowly 10 amps via a plug socket in the garage.

Your profile lists a UX as well as an RX - that could also be prone to the same problem as the RX (and my LC, Toyota RAV4s etc) - well worth pressing your dealer on a solution for the UX too. -

Cruel 🤣 -
Noise - completely agree. It's the soul of the car. I've had 2 x TVR Griffith, Maserati V8, supercharged AMG CLS55 V8, current LC V8, 1989 Merc SL V8, and a few straight/V6s but the sixes just aren't the same. I'd maybe like to try a V10 Audi at some point but the LC is all the engine I'll ever need I reckon. And there's always supercharger conversions... I think this clip deserves another BEHOLD! https://www.instagram.com/reel/CPY5SdrF_IT/

Quicker option than US imports may be front pads from Lexuspartsdirect - £121 a set. I'd assume they're genuine, plus there'll be P&P on top? https://lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/product/lexus-lc-front-brake-pads/ How much were the US pads? Don't need any yet (my squeaky pads were replaced under warranty) but it's worth knowing who you dealt with 😀

Cost of parts, risk of theft - I had to get a tracker to get insurance, plus everybody is seeing higher premiums probably because the FCA stopped the practice of new customers being offered better deals than long term customers. Meddling in a free market caused by politicians again and look what happens. I’m with classicline on a modern classic policy because I’ve been with them for years, only downside is no NCB accrual so I only gain NCB on my other car. Alloy insurance - they’ll take your money if you want them to but it’s only £200-300 per claim from memory, which on an LC won’t be anywhere near enough - my supplying dealer was honest and said it just wasn’t worth doing. And finally Lexus insurance should insure Lexus cars. No argument.

That GR Corolla looks pretty funky. -
Don’t forget since June we also have HHA - Heat Health Alerts! We’re currently at amber alert level as I’m wearing shorts. I assume a red alert means I’ll need a thong. Apologies for that so early in the morning. Try and find Ian Plimer on YouTube. One of his speeches came up and basically, when people say ‘global warming’ the key question is ‘since when’. We’ve been hotter, colder, had more CO2, less CO2, it just depends what time periods you’re looking at. Doom mongers cherry pick time periods and tell us the sky is falling in. I’m not so sure. The UK produces 1% of the worlds CO2. Total CO2 is currently 0.04% of the air - that’s 400 parts per million (400ppm). It’s not a lot! CO2 was as high as 9000 ppm millions of years ago, if our scientists guesses are correct. Fine, have a go at reducing our impact, but not at the expense of hamstringing our economy when other nations (and natural causes) are having a much larger effect.
