  1. After about six months of ownership I thought I would pop some of my thoughts down. I came from a Mercedes GLC, I wanted to go cheaper so tried to get a Suzuki vitara. I didn't even get as far as a test drive, both the dealers in my area are that bad! One completely ignored us fo half an hour so we left. The other had a hand scrawled sign on the door stating "out, back in about 5" so foiled again. I then wanted to look at the Volvo xc40. Booked test drive, arrived to find they hadn't got a petrol model but could have 10 minutes in there diesel one!!! We left. Then onto the Lexus dealer, what a difference, " yes of course you can put your dog in it, treat it as your own, what's the point in only driving a short time etc".

    We ordered one.

i like it very much. A couple of things the GLC does better, when in reverse and the wipers come on it wipes the rear and the camera pops in and out so is always clean. Also the kick to open tailgate I'd like on the nx. Other than that I prefer most things on the Lexus.

In summery, good move if not what was intended!

Works well in the RC but then I don't have intelligent lights just plain auto dip.

Are the NX lights intelligent, whereby individual LEDs go out to mask the car in front?

Yes, they have an array that switches various ones off. They just seem to be a bit slow coming back up to full beam from full dip. When following a car they are great, there's a distinct cut off around the car.

As good as it looks I've decided on the latest and very classic looking Toyota Century. Only problem is it's only available in Japan, and only 600 are made each year.   It'll be hard to convince Mrs G to move to Japan just so I can buy a car I can't afford in a language I don't speak.  Still, for better for worse eh?!

I had Vredestein Winter tyres on my Accord a few years ago after reading good reviews (Wintrac Xtreme). Worst tyres I've ever had...poor grip, poor wear performance and got very noisy very quickly as they wore. Replaced them with Falken Eurowinters which were far superior in every respect, and quite a bit cheaper.

I won't need 'normal' tyres on my NX for quite some time, but when I buy Winter tyres I'll be going back to the Falkens.

Thats interesting, l had them on my freelander and on my mini all4 and I found them great that's why I thought I would go for there all season on my GLC and they were also great, on our trips to the Alps I have never (touch wood) had to don my very expensive chains.

Why do you think it would take 4 days??

There is a website called https://abetterrouteplanner.com it lets you plan any trip around Europe/US using Tesla superchargers. I use it quite a lot and it's pretty accurate though the range estimates are on the conservative side, I nearly always arrive with more % charge left than the website states.

We are going to France this summer in the Tesla with our 2 year old, I have no worries about charging, and looking at a route to Interlaken, suggest only need 3 20 minute stops once your in Europe (Actually if you stopped for 40-50 minutes at Nancy to get 100% charge that will get to Interlaken with no future stops, but you can play with the website for your self and see)......Though I do understand there is a group of people that want a car that can drive 500 miles non-stop for 12 hrs and thing less isn't good enough ;)

That's a mighty good average speed you are doing there! 62 mph nice.

How many times do you have to wait at the super chargers, I guess the more cars  they get on the road the more they will put in.

do you keep to around 200 miles per charge?

  6. How hard would it be to have removable power packs? Drive in, car wash style, battery's drop out, moves along, new ones in.

i know all manufactures would have to make a common size and fittings but it can't be impossible.  That's the only way I could have all electric, we drive down to the Alps and although it's all down hill till we get there! I don't think a four day there four back would be much of a holiday.
